  1. Let me stop you there. Items don't spawn on the pavement or in heaps next to military buildings in DayZ. You have to enter the buildings to get said items. The military bases in DayZ are direct ports from ArmA 2, which did not even have enough civilian living spaces in the cities and towns. The military bases need a face lift in the form of more admin buildings, Armories,messhalls,warehouses,fuel cells,firing ranges/range control towers and other infrastructure. Also as someone in the military I'll tell you, enter a living area of junior enlisted and you'll find shit scattered like LBV,uniforms,magazines,helmets,holsters all over the place in a disorderly fashion. Go to a deployed location or a military instillation on FPCON Delta, you will find gun racks filled with loaded weapons at various unit buildings,ECPs with machineguns to deter VIEDs or even rifles left in latrines or on bunks by their owners (it isn't supposed to happen, but yet happens often enough). Also weapons aren't autonomous and won't remove themselves if their master died or ran away in a panic.

    Yes, lets hope we get at least the "Big Three" of the battle rifle family and variations of them such as the paratrooper FAL, EBR and G3A3ZF. People whining about "balance" can go to games like COD where characteristics are altered and made simple for the causal crowd. DayZ is to be true to life, and like life, sometimes it isn't "fair" or "balanced".

    This was already done with the FNX45 and the tactical vest. There are several items in ArmA 3 that can fit in DayZ such as the Mk 18 ABR being a M14 EBR in function as well as the "Zubr .45" being a Mateba Model 6 (also giving the players another .357 weapon) and the "NATO Spec-ops helmet" being a Crye precision airframe helmet. Not to mention the flight suits, chest rigs and mulicam patterns that can be grafted on existing clothing to very easily diversify and expand game content.

    The EBR isn't some cutting edge technology, in fact it is more of quick response for the lack of purpose built DMRs in the US military, and it has several issues, such as weight. However it has earned popularity in military and civilian circles. In function it performs the same as a M14, but has Picatinny rails for accessories. DayZ already has the M4A1, MICH helmets, and American uniforms. Whatever entity brought that equipment over could have brought EBRs with them. Moving on, several of ArmA 3's weapons are "Space fantasy guns", but quite a few of them are existing weapons with different names. http://www.imfdb.org/wiki/ArmA_III It already uses an altered map from ArmA 2, and textures from ArmA 3. Not that there is anything wrong from that, as it gives the devs time to work on other things, such as making interiors for buildings and expanding the existing map.

    Several weapons in ArmA 3 are modern weapons with different names. The Mk 18 is identical to an existing weapon system, the M14 EBR. Cyre airframe helmets are in fact very real and are popular with police and military forces across the world. Also the examples I stated in my OP were altered to work with the DayZ skeleton.

    Wasn't West Germany already planning to replace the G3 with the G11 before unification? Also there is a very vocal amount of critics in the US that claim battle rifles are superior to their successors. On another note why is this even an issue? DayZ shouldn't be altering real world aspects of weapons for "Balance". Balance will come with the fact that a G3/FAL/M14 and their DMR variations such as the Mk 14 EBR/G3A3ZF-DMR: *Weigh more than an AKM or M4/M16 (and thus would take more item blocks in inventory) *Have lower magazine capacities *Bigger magazines (Again taking more inventory space) *Are harder to clear buildings or confined spaces with due to length *Have lower rates of fire than assault rilfes

    The Mosin Nagant and G3 fire different rounds. Also firing a battle rifle on full auto would have a considerable recoil.

  13. Keep it up, when uneducated people claim the userbase don't care about the subject of using the right types of ammunition, users can counter that claim with this poll as it seems to be very important to the majority.

    Have you guys never had your plumbing go out and have your spigot pour out a handful of water before going out? Something like every sink gives out one well sip worth of water per server reset would be a nice touch.

    This isn't Soviet Russia. Humvees,LMTVs,MRAPs,GAZ jeeps,Ural trucks and several other military vehicles are diesel powered. Also aircraft use JP-8 or JET-A.
  16. I agree with the sentiment that firearms (and their magazines) should be found with full or partial reloads. RNG should take effect as not everyone dies with and empty weapon and no magazine. I see a lot of contradictory statements with devs and mods about this game being "Non-causal". This should be the game where no one expects it to be easy to gear up and mow down other with a full combat load. Not to mention that ammo could be used for barter if it held more value and allow for player-driven instances where players try to bluff with non loaded guns or retreat to conserve resources. I think the devs took a very bad step listening to reddit, who wanted a colt python .357, a proprietary round just to roleplay as some guy from the walking dead and now are won't to add 9x18,9x39 and 5.45, non proprietary types of ammunition that are regionally available and can be chambered in various platforms. It is also disappointing as this means we may not see variations of existing ammo, such as M995 AP, or M856 tracer,
  17. Dress uniforms and PT gear yes, but I'm in month 3 of wearing OCPs (mulicams) non stop and find them pretty comfy.
  18. Milsurp is very popular for hunters,hobbyists,campers,survivalists as it is cheaper and in some cases better than civilian counter parts.
  19. I fear that several people voted for a dumbed down ammo system so they can get their cowadoody kicks. I really can't see a benefit in this game setting to have such a causal approach.

  21. Don't give up. Now is the time to voice that the devs are simply wrong on this matter. The game is still in development so it's not too late to get them to change their opinion. I think you might find that a large portion of the community strongly disagree with Chris Torchia.

    Can the people who cry "It would make the game TOO realistic" elaborate? There are several successful games on the market that do this and why should the devs aim to make the game easier and renege their mission statement of a difficult and realistic gaming experience.

    I think it is ironic that the Devs added .357 but don't want to add 7.62x54R or 5.45. I concur with the others that favor eliminating it in favor of a more correct cartridge.
