Goggles would be a good idea. No in game effect, just flavor material. Russian Helmets seem to not have accessories sans helmet covers and googles, but some over more protection than their western helmet. I also would love to see both Russian Tanker helmets and Western Armor Crewmen helmets.
-
I like those Russian Helmets, but having both is a good move as the Western helmet could be modular and the Russian Cylon Helmet provide %100 protection of the head.

Humans make lousy armor. Rifle rounds and most handgun rounds will tear though one with enough force to injure or kill someone hiding behind their fellow human.

We Need a Gas Mask to Match That ZsH3 Helmet [Image]
stielhandgranate replied to Ethyn's topic in Suggestions
I am really liking that face piece, Would definitively fit in game. ?????? I have to wear my Gas mask with a helmet every time we run a MOPP 4 exercise. I thought it was disabled because of clipping issues. -
You're on the right track. DayZ could use some areas that play with players emotions, meat lockers, morgues, public bathrooms and large enterable aircraft crash sites like C-17s or 747s would be a good addition as seeing what green mountain has shown us, areas like the above will breed superstitions and legend, even if they are baseless. Such scares will bring a better experience.

Military weapons usually are issued with slings, and slings don't fall off easily. In a game where the devs are are coding incorrect ammo to guns to appease the casuals, I doubt this will be taken into consideration.

From Chris Torchia: Thoughts? In a game that aims for realism do we (the users) not care about guns being chambered in the right caliber?

Ammo Calibration : Poll & Discussion
stielhandgranate replied to stielhandgranate's topic in General Discussion
Yeah Call of Duty Generation doesn't want anything getting in their way of gunning down fresh spawns. Also can someone elaborate why reddit is put on a pedestal and lauded as a mature DayZ community? I visited the dayz subreddit to see if I could find some insight from the devs on this issue and it makes this forum look like a supreme court hearing. The whole reddit community is about trying to earn thumbs ups from other users and calling others to thumbs down opinions they don't like. -
Ammo Calibration : Poll & Discussion

I was going to add 9x39 for the Groza and VSS/VAL but I figured it would garner whines from the anti military items crowd. -
Ammo Calibration : Poll & Discussion
stielhandgranate replied to stielhandgranate's topic in General Discussion
It seems the anti ammo crowd has this idea that the argument is to have several hundred types of non compatible ammunition or a different type of round for each firearm when that isn't the case. What we are asking for is three~four calibers that fit in the region's settings and are comparable with several weapons: 9x18:Pistol round used in several Warsaw pact pistols and submachineguns 5.45x39: Rifle round used in several modern Eastern European rifles 7.62x54R:Rifle round used in Eastern European sniper rifles and machineguns -
I am fan of the idea of taking a gun apart. An M4 in a upper and lower receiver will fit in a small pack with effort.

Ammo Calibration : Poll & Discussion
stielhandgranate replied to stielhandgranate's topic in General Discussion
On 1: As stated before most guns have their caliber stamped on the receiver and those that don't can be figured out on the item description in the game inventory. If a player doesn't have to motor skills to click "Inspect" in the inventory screen, the game shouldn't spoon feed them. On 2: Why not? Many police and military institutions maintain cashes of ammo in several areas. And police forces are known to have more diverse ammunition types as officers tend to have personal preferences to certain firearms. No one wants to see hundreds of rounds in game but 2~3 boxes of different ammunition isn't unreasonable. The same could be said with the opposite side of the coin. Go casual on the ammo and the casual userbase will demand that all the blood types are reverted to the same type or that broken legs and the concussion mechanic gets removed. -
Ammo Calibration : Poll & Discussion
stielhandgranate replied to stielhandgranate's topic in General Discussion
Lets take a look at the pros of a mod style diverse ammo pool: *Encourages trade *Makes ammo more valuable and thus people less prone to wasting it killing fresh spawns *Encourages scenarios where players try to bluff with empty weapons *Allows for ammo weight to be a factor in later builds *Requires very little coding efforts Cons: ???? -
The Community's List of Suggested Weapons for Dayz Standalone (Version: 1.29)
stielhandgranate replied to alexeistukov's topic in Suggestions
Wrong. The US military still uses M16A2 and A4s. It is still a common weapon around the world. -
Ammo Calibration : Poll & Discussion
stielhandgranate replied to stielhandgranate's topic in General Discussion
Why are the devs so hostile about this? They imported a lot of ArmA's userbase from the mod days and act like they are asking for the impossible. Why are they so opposed to the thoughts of 9x18 and 7.62x54R? Also their attitude of telling disappointed people to "Just mod it" comes off as very hostile and rude. Also if the devs only offer an audience to reddit, why do we even have a dayz forum? Is the first quote from reddit from a dev? -

Have you ever fired your rifle without Earpro? It will deafen you. 5.56 not only has a longer casing than a .22 and thus more of a bang, but the birdcage style flash suppressor does little to mitigate noise. Videos are not accurate representations of being near a firearm being discharged. Even the humble M855 will deafen a shooter without earpro. http://www.freehearingtest.com/hia_gunfirenoise.shtml http://www.arl.army.mil/www/default.cfm?page=351 I'm not saying there should be a peanlty in game for using a firearm. What I am implying is a firearm should be very loud noticeable and not the current weak noise it is in game.

I agree. The Dev Team could go to a range that rents out automatic weapons like at Las Vegas or Czech Republic and fire live rounds (LIVE ROUNDS, not blanks) with recording equipment for a more authentic experience.

I want to eat the horse.

I wear a rucksack and a M4 with a 3-point sling all the time with no discomfort. Why shouldn't I in game?
-
Pretty much every red dot the military uses like the M68 CCO is already NVG compatible. The first few settings are only visible with NVGs.

Fuck yes Shemaghs. The grips, well it really doesn't "Enhance" gun performance, rather it's more of a shooter preference thing for comfort. I always love seeing new guys over pay for some blackhawk brand Shemagh when the local bazaars sell them at the same quality for 5 bucks. Also we should take advantage of the fact that Takistan boarders Chernarus, but maybe keep them confined to rare civilian spawns and not so rare/uncommon spawns for bases.

Military hydration pack / Leg holster / Military bulletproof vest
stielhandgranate replied to skully172's topic in Suggestions
In the US, over budgeted cops. -
I could see hydration being a factor when exposed to the sunlight in later builds.
