Makes me wonder if painting an empty mag will produce a full polymer mag.

Mosin-Nagant "Obrez" Modification? [Torchia Tweet]
stielhandgranate replied to Katana67's topic in General Discussion
Balance? This isn't an arcade game. These is nothing wrong with multiple weapons filling the same role. This is a great addition. Now thrifty survivor groups can gather even more type of shooters for their pals, even if its a low performing cut up shooter. -
The reason why no one uses the .22 and other civilian weapons with detachable magazines is the fact that the magazines only spawn at military buildings. A later update should fix that.

Create two seperate military loot tables
stielhandgranate replied to stielhandgranate's topic in Suggestions
Does that mean it should only spawn in police stations? Several western military organizations use them. Also according to the wiki, the MP5 and it's magazines spawn in military prisons. -
Create two seperate military loot tables
stielhandgranate replied to stielhandgranate's topic in Suggestions
I agree on the hunting backpack. If you look at my post I did not include it. Nor did I include civilian weapon magazines or accessories. Please do not debate the idea of creating new civilian gear here as the subject pertains to handling military loot tables. -

AK 101 mags sure are uncommon...
stielhandgranate replied to Ransurian's topic in General Discussion
You think thats bad? Try using the damn thing when your mags run dry and there is no loose 5.56 anymore. -
What would be a better idea is to scale back the new settlements, yes scale back and expand existing cities like the in the south. Most of the new villages are uninspired, repeat the same buildings and do not spark curiosity, Novo being the exception. The defaulted settlements from the mod were too small to begin with and the new podunk villages will erode player base building efforts as it will be harder to locate an area off the beaten trail and this will increase when vehicles are implemented. If there is a dev department that will be underused as a result, then their efforts should be to expanding the map with engine limitations being lifted soon. Anyone who played Breaking point for ArmA 3 can attest to how very large scale map enhanced the experience. Trying to hunt player bases in the remote island chains or break player made blockades at the land bridge to safer lands or the satisfaction of sending someone back to the spawn area from the western sector were very fun moments. Such events could be recreated in standalone, imagine trying to scale a mountain to cross the Chernarus Takistan boarder or boarding the beached wreck of the USS Khe Sanh on Utes Island.

[M4A1] - STANAG 60 round magazine should have to be reloaded after 30 rounds
stielhandgranate replied to zippit's topic in Suggestions
Replace the model with a 60 round surefire magazine. No issues on the self reloading jungle mag then. -
Does carrying a sporter 22 make you a more 'friendly" player
stielhandgranate replied to HeroAtDay BanditAtNight's topic in General Discussion
Only a bandit would need a high capacity assault clip and an assault weapon with a pistol grip and shoulder thing that goes up. -
The idea of finding plates without a carrier is interesting. I could be fashioned improvised armor on vehicles or strapped in backpacks as a improvised carrier.

Here is what I have to keep on it for 14 hours a day minimum. Body Armor can carry a lot, and while heavy, many would carry such kit if they could secure it in a situation where people in clown masks are running loose, armed with hunting rifles are out to kill you or force you to eat rotten kiwis. Edit: sorry for the double post, It would not let me attach more than one image

After the dev statement about not wanting to add the AK-74 because it uses the 5.45x39 round, I think it is time that they reconsider. There are several variants of the AK-74 chambered in 5.45x39 that would be welcome in game and fit in the setting. The AKS-74u, are personal defense weapon designed for vehicle crews comes to mind. As does the RPK-74, a squad support version that replaced the RPD. In game both of these variants could have their advantages such such as inventory space, rate of fire and integral bipods. This is game is set in East Europe and the idea of these weapons being absent in a crisis is very unseasonable. Furthermore, the idea that new players wouldn't understand why these weapons are chambered in something different is an insult to their intelligence. One thing that draws players to DayZ is the idea of a challenge and a degree of realism. The game has several different blood types and intends to have several diseases in the future. 5.45x39 won't turn players away, if anything most serious, long term players will welcome it.

The Community's List of Suggested Weapons for Dayz Standalone (Version: 1.29)
stielhandgranate replied to alexeistukov's topic in Suggestions
We know the Chernarussian military used Soviet era small arms and not AK-101s, a weapon that picked up no buyers or the that RAK is a version that did not gain any buyers as well. And the colt python was a request from r/dayz, probably because of it's status in the walking dead comic/tv show. If weapons like the Python,Longhorn or Blaze are in game a Striker is not too far fetched, considering as you say, Chernarus is a fictional country and you don't know its excact specifics like gun laws, such as importation. -

stielhandgranate replied to alexeistukov's topic in Suggestions
There are several weapons that would never exist in in Chernarus or even exist in such large numbers as they are currently depicted in game. If anything the Striker could be a nod to the STALKER series like the 5.56 pistol from the fallout series is a nod to the movie blade runner. -
Reconsider the AK-74 and 5.45x39

Adding 9x39 is a whole other battle, but one worth fighting for. -

How about both? An imperfect weapon shouldn't be dismissed. A internal mag shotgun like the Striker is one that doesn't need five hours of mag hunting. -

The Community's List of Suggested Weapons for Dayz Standalone (Version: 1.29)
stielhandgranate replied to alexeistukov's topic in Suggestions
I think that has more to do with legality issues. To own one in the US you have to have a $200 tax stamp and it is import banned. When other "Combat" shotguns like the Saiga or Vepr are available in larger numbers for lower costs the striker loses popularity. -
Reconsider the AK-74 and 5.45x39
stielhandgranate replied to stielhandgranate's topic in Suggestions
An AK-74 fires a distinct round, 5.45, not 7.62x39. The fact that neither are battle rifles does not dismiss this fact. An AK pattern weapon with a AK-74 profile chambered in 7.62x39 is not an AK-74. There are many AK variants in use across the world, right now we have the most famous and numerous variant (the AKM) and an export model from Izmash (the AK-101) that secured no overseas buyers and is not in use with any police or military organization. These weapons would have different ranges, weight inventory space, rates of fire and spawn points. Such values would be supplemented with a different caliber and thus prevent one weapon being completely superior to others. The fact that all automatic weapons behave like the spread gun from contra and are accurate to 20 meters in game leads one to hope that their values are a place holder and will be adjusted to work like weapons in ArmA at a later date. If all guns were to work the same way, then there would be no point to having more than one type of weapon in each class. -
Reconsider the AK-74 and 5.45x39
stielhandgranate replied to stielhandgranate's topic in Suggestions
At the cost of over simplifying the game. With persistent store making it's way into the game, players can now store surplus of unneeded ammo until they find a weapon compatible with it. Also an AK-74 chambered in 7.62 is no longer a AK-74, but an AKM variant. The argument is as faulty as cambering an AR-10 in 5.56. -
Reconsider the AK-74 and 5.45x39
stielhandgranate replied to stielhandgranate's topic in Suggestions
I would love to talk about the merits of 5.45x39, It is you that picks apart comments and words and invite derailment. 5.45x39 is one of the most common military cartridges in use in East Europe, it should be a entry caliber and the AK-74 should be a entry tier select fire military rifle, like how the Mosin Nagant is the entry tier civilian long range rifle. AKS-74us are issued ground and air vehicle crews, it should be found near wrecks and be a common weapon used to be concealed in vests and backpacks when trying to fringe being a unarmed person. One good benefit of the AK-74 family of weapons is the magazine compatibility, as magazines are rare at this state in the game, the game would greatly benefit from weapons that accept the same caliber and magazine. -

Are you of Middle Eastern or South West Asian Decent? If you aren't I think it's rather rude to speak on their behalf. Although the word "Jihad" has origins in Islam it is a noun in Arabic and is not in exclusive use with Muslims.
