Should Rocket go sooner rather than later?

And we should all take your word for it as you won't provide sources.

poor soda cans into canteen / bottle

If you don't mind me asking what military were you in that issued metal canteens? Just out of curiosity. I only had real use with canteens back in 2008 during my initial career training and basic training before being issued a cambak at my first duty station. The canteens we had were made of hard rubber and had "Drinking water only" molded on them. Some of my fellow students added the drink mix from MREs to their canteens and were instructed to buy new ones at the exchange by the cadre. Those that didn't had a very hard time trying to clean them out. I remember one young entrepreneur who tried stuffing an entire pack of instant noodles and the flavor pack to his 2 quart canteen thinking it would be edible by lunch. I remember him tossing the entire canteen during our meal break and being called out by the cadre for his initiative.

They can blame all glitch deaths when going up stairs on anomalies or poltergeists.

Sugar crystallizes. Purification tables will not remove the build up. There is a reason military canteens say "Drinking water only". Also you want to treat canteens like ammo cans or pelican cases. Ammo cans are meant to hold ammo and do so in the game, Pelican cases hold items for safe keeping and they do so in game, canteens are not designed to hold other liquids and do not do so. The up coming mess kit might do what you want to do with canteens. http://dayz.gamepedia.com/Mess_Tin So you want to hold several items to save yourself from holding three soda cans? A screwdriver will not reach ever surface in a canteen, and a bayonet won't fit the entry point without damaging it.

Because there is a major shortage of water? Such as the common water pumps and common can spawns? A better idea would be to have the IV bag bring up hydration as thats what IV bags do IRL.

That same short sightedness gets you diarrhea or at a best case a good waste of limited cleaning tools and a sticky canteen that smells like the token smelly 18 year old fresh out of AIT.

Buy a canteen for $5, fill it with cola, then try to see how easy it is to clean it. Even if you fill the vessel with disinfectant leaving no unaffected areas, you then have to purge the disinfectant and dry it before use, something that is very difficult, given it's shape and narrow point of entry.

No, you are the minority, go cowadoody elsewhere. Enjoy missing out on most of what the game has to offer.

That wouldn't work unless you poured the water into a new container, thus making the contaminated vessel useless. Because your container is now useless, and the carbonated beverage will turn flat within an hour. Cleaning a canteen is very different than a normal container such as a vacuum flask. In the military (before the introduction of camelbaks, though the principal remains the same) less educated personnel who added cola or juice to a canteen would have to replace it or risk getting sick.

No, pouring liquids with sugar into a canteen ruin it and make it a haven for bacteria.

I think the devs are big boys and don't need you defending them on the internet. Several posts have already stated they have no ill towards rocket, but feel the game development has taken a less than perfect path.

Yeah SA's model of having to use 3+ bandages due to guaranteed bleeding and only use an axe weapon as all non axe weapons are useless to kill a zombie effectively is superior. And say goodbye to that shirt you were wearing and anything in it. Implying the zombies in SA that run through walls, respawn like legion, and never appear in numbers greater than 4 is better. Because Breaking point isn't a mod or anything. Incorrect, the guns in ArmA 3 use fantasy space names to skirt IP use. BP guns are reskinned or renamed to real world counterparts. They also shoot farther than 50 meters unlike the firearms in SA. Place holder, originally items spawned in the ground but had to be reworked for IP issues. Because no one playing SA has been killed by walking up stairs or a zombie attacking them on a different floor in a building. It's ArmA 3's interface, you can't blame the BP devs, as BP is a mod for ArmA 3. Comparable to the same repeated towns being added in to the SA map to "expand" it without increasing overall map size. The difference is the team designing breaking point did it for free and released a working model before the Standalone and made it a very enjoyable experience. Right now all the standalone has going for it, is fans can type "Its an Alpha" to defend it's short comings and a more detailed clothing system.

    Reskin the Russian Calibers

I think we could all agree that we need more Russian calibers, namely 5.45,9x39 and 9x18 for weapons like the AK-74,AKS-74u,RPK-74,VSS,VAL,Groza and Bizon.

Should Rocket go sooner rather than later?

Yes, right now the only way to "expand" the map is to add more towns and at this point it is just repeating the same buildings and narrowing the areas in game suitable for base building. If the map was Altis sized then this would be less of an issue. When server space increases (from what I understand it is planned to be up to 100) it will hinder the experience as well and perhaps lead people to camp out dead servers for bases and migrate to populated servers for player interaction, which I feel is a negitive. 60 slot servers in Breaking point do well as there are areas that are still suitable for player bases but still allow the player to get that paranoia that he/she may be in occupied territory when in a town or city but can be put at relative ease when in a forest or island off the beaten path.

What's the current hacking status like in DayZ:SA?

The easy answer is for BI to threaten legal action as these sites that are selling exploits for their product are illegally profiting on it. If they offer it for free then there is no legal issue, but since this is a pay service they are profiting on copyrighted material without consent.

Should Rocket go sooner rather than later?

I was under the impression that a lot of the time taken to bringing the game into open alpha was impart to get a bigger map and a polished engine. To my disappointment the devs decided to cannibalize as much as they could from Arma 2 and adopt the problems in doing so. While Altis may be "Bland" it is a better foundation than Chernarus as it is bigger and features from Chernarus could have been ported in while having a whole new library of resources such as buildings to use. Does it make me bitter? Yes. Is it wrong to want more than the ArmA 2 map with minor differences? No.

POLL: What if DayZ was made by a different company?

Bethesda? The same ones that crapped all over the established lore of the past two fallout games before three? Obsidian would be better.

Should Rocket go sooner rather than later?

Are you implying the current build of SA or the mod ever "ran well"? It's clear the engine is struggling, but you are right in the sense that we have to "deal with it".

    Ruined T-shirts to ruined rags?

I don't see how the zombie "swing arms lazily up,then down while howling like a monkey" attack annihilates your rags to the point of uselessness.

POLL: What if DayZ was made by a different company?

Not him, but even a simpleton knows "zombie stuff" sells and would have given a project that was receiving good word of mouth anything it needed. Lets face it, if this wasn't a zombie survival game and lets say some other genre of game, it would have been dead on arrival.

Should Rocket go sooner rather than later?

http://www.crydev.net/viewtopic.php?f=355&t=86359 Not bad seeing how Dayz+ map size is 225x225 km and looks for lack of a better word, shittier. Becuase while BIS may know the engine well, it is limited and dated. It would have been better to use the newer Real Virtuality engine found in ArmA 3 and built a new map from scratch to match the size of Altis, rather than recycle the map from the mod. As far as "spend a sizable chunk of their budget" I'm sure the profit so far far out strips production costs.

Should Rocket go sooner rather than later?

I don't think anyone here is attacking him as a person. However there are several people here that think he has been a less than successful Dev. He may be a nice person, but his priorities have often been in the wrong place. Such as the dev blog post where he shows off the progress of the standalone in per-alpha and fiddles with a compass lid, something that really adds nothing of value to the game experience, or the fact that M4 carbines are enhanced by fancier polymer furniture, something as a military vet, he should know does not effect weapon performance. People aren't wrong criticize when it is warranted and it will be more constructive for the devs to read and learn what their community thinks they are doing wrong (such as the strong opinion on this forum against the devs limiting ammunition types to make the game easier to players to lazy to read the in game item description) rather than hang out on reddit's r/dayz and read countless "You guys rock, take your time, lel awesome work" comments.

That is the stupidest thing I've read here in awhile. I have you been a politician? No? Than you can't criticize anything regarding politics. I also guess you were wrong to complain about hackers last week since you aren't a hacker.
