  1. M249 (it self a version of the Minmi) would be better as I don't think the mag well for 5.56 magazines is standard on all versions of the Minimi.

    Liquor Stores and 6 packs.

But thats wrong. Alcohol prevents your body from retaining water. If you notice while inebriated your urine will be clear even if you aren't drinking water along alcohol. Part of the reason you get a hangover the next night is because you are dehydrated. In the military, hungover drunks often petition medics for IV drips. IV units will hydrate you and offset the hangover faster.

Beer should dehydrate you. It should be a "bad" food item like rotten fruit.

I gotta remember that to prank some new guys. "Hey guys we need you to pick up 20 combat loads of JP-8 at the fuels compound for our M240s and M249s."

I like the idea of a store counter top that is bullet resistant with a reenforced drawer so a player can make an improvised store.

    MICH 2000 Helmet Cover

I happen to be in the military. In fact I am currently in Afghanistan and in my six years I have never been issued or seen a helmet in use without a cover outside of basic. Once they are on, it is very hard to detach as they feed into the harness straps. Improvised ones can be made out of cutting out the back section of a uniform jacket if needed. Even after the military and police fell to zombies the helmets would still be around. Its not like the zombies could eat them or destroy them with their hands. Your notion that everyone will take these helmets is false. I have engaged groups at NWAF and Balota that wear different headgear such as boonies or cowboy hats and my group sticks to Chernorussian berets and bandana wraps or painted pilot helmets if we can find enough for identification purposes. Head gear of all types should be massive amounts and perhaps spawn in piles so groups can use them as uniforms.

    Grenades Functionality

I like this. In the Soviet Afghan war, the Russians experimented with grenades that detonated on impact: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RGO_hand_grenade The booby trap with a frag is an old trick and is still in use today with irregular forces. I also like the idea of a individual using a grenade to try to guarantee his or her safety when talking to strangers.

    MICH 2000 Helmet Cover

It should be noted as well that in some element of US military training, receiving a helmet cover was a rite of passage at an entry level of training. They are required equipment for deploying forces and hence why you see so few "naked" helmets in stock photos of military forces overseas.

    MICH 2000 Helmet Cover

Helmet covers are standard. Its not special forces equipment. If players don't want to look like a cowboy or civilian then it should be their choice. They shouldn't be forced to look like a fedora wearing hipster because apparently a common and sturdy item with police and military forces would just disappear in a zombie crisis.

Average civilians? Where is this stated? You don't need special military training to slip on a helmet cover.

DayZ Development progress makes no sense

Fair enough but what about the ArmA 2 ballistics mechanics? For example the M4A1 has a reach of about 75 meters in DayZ when it's real life counter part has an effective range for a point target at 550 meters and this range could be achieved in ArmA 2. Arguably ArmA 2 had the most true to life representations of weapon ranges in a video game sans the ACE mod. Why was it not carried over as the only thing missing from range mechanics was the effects weather have on projectiles in flight? It seems the development team started from scratch and now have to work up to a product that will be comparable to ArmA 2, only to then catch up and build on that rather to start from that stage.

DayZ Development progress makes no sense

Wow, dialog with a developer, I am honored. What Blizzard did while developing starcraft 2 was import resources from it's predecessor to use as placeholders or build upon them. But why was this not capitalized as BI did grant access to use resources form ArmA 2 and ArmA 3? Surely there were weapons, clothes, camo patterens, food and medical equipment skins that would have sped up item implantation, or at least use the old AI for zombies from the mod as the current AI seems to have a lot if issues such as hit detection? Another thing that boggles me is why hasn't BI asked to use intellectual property form weapons companies and military suppliers except for CMMG? Surely companies like Trijicon,Crye precision,Colt Defense,Fabrique Nationale, Berreta and Česká zbrojovka would allow free use of their IP as they have profited from free product placement in video games in the past. Such companies had no problem with their IP in use with ArmA 2. It would add another level of immersion.

DayZ Development progress makes no sense

Oh wow a mild attempt at an insult from the "Never question the development process of this game under any circumstance" fanboy crowd. Maybe if you read the post I quoted the analogy would be clear. Of course maintaining control of an Armory is different from developing a game. However the user I quoted made a comment claiming that anyone providing anything but a positive analysis of the development of the game could not hold down a profession. A silly declaration. On your first point, what you are implying is ridiculous and ignorant. BI isn't some volunteer group of amateur coders trying to design a game from one of their buddies garage. This game has already cleared multimillion dollar sales, has received nothing but good word of mouth from video game review websites, magazines and blogs, and has received mainstream media attention. BI may not be at the level of power as Blizzard Activison, but they are no small family owned business trying to compete with walmart, and have cornered a market where others have failed. Further more the game is part of the zombie craze, which is something easily marketable and profitable.

DayZ Development progress makes no sense

I really don't agree with the idea that we have to go to reddit to get dev news, also from what I understand although the hacker and duper issue has spanned months, the devs have only taken note of it recently. I don't expect an instant fix to all problems, but the zombies have been broken for several patches while the devs seem to harp on the idea of refining the loot dynamics as if that is the most pressing issue at the moment. Public announcements on current issues (perhaps including them in the "WARNING,ALPHA" screen) would put minds at ease.

DayZ Development progress makes no sense

Not the argument. You assume this is the argument of OP. The Argument is the "Open Alpha" and how the devs are implementing the elements of the game in a haphazard and erratic fashion. For example, spending over 8 months getting the lid on a compass lid to open and shut and not worrying about working zombies, hit detection, a new engine, hacking player caps, map size ect ect Garbage argument. Are you a career politician? No? Then never criticize any politicians. I'm not claiming to be a video game developer. Just like how people can criticize the actions of a police officer when he throws a flash bang in a babies crib without having prior experience in Law Enforcement or the mass beading by extremists without being an extremist or being raised in the third world. BIS employees make an aboveliving wage for their work no matter how many mean comments are made on their forums. I Am not fixing bugs in a video game. I just patrol a compound in my current deployment while being informed I will be extended and be away from my wife and family for a longer time than anticipated. Two different backgrounds. Do I blame them for being worse off? No? Do I blame their lackluster development since I departed my home station as for some reason DayZ is the only game in my steam library that I can play on this fisher price tier internet connection with my friends? Yes. No, I am complaining about the lack of development and failure to even import the existing AI from the mod as a place holder until they get their shit together or using a game engine that was never intended to run this type of game and several other faults that I can post later. Devs fuck up? They still get paid and at worst they have to go to bed knowing someone out there wrote a negative comment on the internet about their short comings. I fuck up? Best case I have administrative action taken against me or I am discharged form the military before my contract. Worst case I go to jail because during the failed inspection because several M16A2s and HEDP grenades are missing and I threw the idea of keeping inventory on the back burner or three untrained personnel die because they failed to head space and time an M2 before attempting to fire it during an ambush and the gun failed to operate because I thought they should learn how to drive an MRAP first. The point is I may not be a video game developer, but I am still capable of comparing their action to that of other game developers and find faults then call them out for it. I am also capable of calling out fellow forum members who spammed the beginning of this thread with child like and pathetic posts like "LOL didn't read, I'm going to assume what your argument is and call you dumb, rocket is good fuck off".

DayZ Development progress makes no sense

Right because constructive criticism is never valid. I guess you should have "read the fucking disclaimer" and waited for the game to be finished when lobbying about the direction the devs were taking with weapons. If you would have taken the three minutes to read the OP, would have taken note that he does have some valid points rather than it being another generic rant thread, compared to the development of other games like Starcraft 2, it is very haphazard. I complain a lot and have a professional Job, the military. Lets see how my conduct would read if I acted like a dev- Staff Sergeant, did you complete the weapons parts inventory? The inventory is in alpha, I know you were expecting by XXX time, but I I'm going to need about a year and a half to finish it, I got the letterhead and about 1/15th of it done, can you approve my leave? Staff Sergeant, teach these three personnel how to use an M2 machinegun in three days After three days, I can safely say these three individuals can drive and operate an MRAP. I know you were looking forward to seeing them be proficient on an M2 and hopefully in about four months we can get an M2 team ready for mobility. Staff Sergeant, when can the Armory be ready for it's annual inspection? Its been great working with you sir, after a satisfying career of six years, I am ready to receive my full pension. Good luck to you.

    Has the battle been won?

We both know installing a new gas break on an AK pattern weapon is an involved procedure. More involved than installing a RIS. But a "flat" break and a "slant break" are pretty distinctive and can help people tell the two models apart.

    Has the battle been won?

This is why I was excited and misread the retexture as a reskin. What they could do is give it a flat gas break, railed dust cover and a different muzzle break in game to avoid confusion between both models.

    Has the battle been won?

Well, it would be welcoming to see weapons that fit the locale like the Galil or the RK95 Tp. I think some of the others see the AK-101 as fitting as one of those AR platform sporter rifles chambered in 7.62x39, that is not well at all. I don't disagree, however and there are weapons besides the AK-74 that would fit in the game, its just that the AK-74 should be part of this game for several reasons and not be dismissed.
  22. stielhandgranate

    Has the battle been won?

Let me backpedal and rephrase as "lost opportunity" as the aforementioned weapons share more accessories and parts than their nato counterparts and would fit well in the location. Tis counters the issue of having to loot for extended periods without finding usable equipment for your shooter.
  23. stielhandgranate

    Has the battle been won?

To be fair none of those nations use the AK-101. Some of them use 5.56 is significant numbers but use other 5.56 weapons like Galils,G36s and M4A3s. It is a weapon with no major buyers at the moment. While I don't mind it's presence as it may no longer be seen as a "replacement" for the AK-74, its commonalty is as logical as a Remington ACR or Beretta ARX 100.
  24. stielhandgranate

    Has the battle been won?

A real fault on the devs is not rolling out several AK pattern weapons that aren't rifles (or course they may still do that at a later date). For example if there was a Vityaz,Saiga 12,AKM, AK-74, and AK-101 in game then we have a family of weapons that can be used in several different roles and various calibers, but accept the same accessories such as the PSO,KOBRA, and share buttstocks, handguards, and in some cases muzzle breaks. This is not including picatinny rail mounted optics, flashlights and laser aiming modules.

    Has the battle been won?

No it is necessary, this game was marketed as a hardcore experience and an "anti game", not some causal garbage like unturned. If ammunition authenticity is "unimportant" to you then it would benefit you to try some other causal games that won't make you think too hard. Furthermore, to use a cliche phrase, its an alpha, the morphine mechanic is a placeholder and may be adjusted or made more difficult before release. I would bet having to find a compatible blood-type to make a transfusion is really difficult in your gaming experience.
