I suggested this awhile ago. I think finding an MP40 behind some crates in a barn wouldn't be too immersion breaking. Places like Estonia and Finland are littered with vehicle husks that get rediscovered from time to time. That being said this German weapon would be a better fit FG42, chambered in 7.92x57, a cartridge in use with many sporting and military bolt action rifles and still in production today. It would be a rare unicorn of anyone's arsenal in game, but more feasible.

You can remove the kevlar inserts on most body armor, then just dye the shell.
-
I don't see why not. As long as the pouch pockets can't be altered as they appear to be sewn into the vest. I have seen threads on firearms forums about dying ACU vests and other accessories that are in less than desirable patterns. Could be something we use the barrel for.

Its a cool rifle. She is the mother of all modern Assault rifles, way ahead of her time. A lot of these are showing up in Syria and even in East Ukraine. Some StG 44s were built after WW2 in East Germany for their police. However it's ammunition is it's downfall. The few rifles chambered in 7.92x33 are even rarer than the StG 44. Seeing how the devs like to implement ammunition that can be used in multiple weapons, it's doubtful this weapon will interest them.

I think the game is falling apart at this stage. Interest is dying fast. Forum activity is down by more than half compared to 6 months ago, its harder to find high cap servers and issues from the last year are still in the game. No one in my gaming group or steam friends list play this group and suggestions of dayz bring up the same groans and (albeit valid) complaints of a project that is behind. This game was Bohemia's most popular title in their history. They should be doing their best to keep interests high.

Agree. We need a fallout 3/NV style gore system. I want to walk past former gunfights and find bodies that are torn open and dismembered from gunfire and explosions, with the body parts being feasted upon by zombies.

Just did night fire with the M4 carbine and some day fire. The muzzle flash in game is heavily exaggerated. Firearms equipped with a flash hider like the M4A1,AK-101/AK-74 and AUG will produce a smaller flash than firearms without one like the mosin nagant. I can post some photos later.

ChDKZ Rebels, Terrorist and criminal hideouts.

I mentioned something like this in the DPM camo thread awhile ago. This would be pretty cool. Finding rebel hideouts in mountains or under culverts would be cool. -
Craftable Dovetail Mount and Scopes/Sights
stielhandgranate replied to Bush_Wookieing_101's topic in Suggestions
I hope we're talking about installing prefabricated or cannibalized parts on firearms and not crafting sophisticated parts from scrap metal and bits of wire. I'd welcome the former. -
Molot made a small run of Mosin nagants and a few older Russian rifles a few years back to see if it was economically feasible.
-
So something like this?

Molot in 2011

It will be bullshit if you can't install a PSO on an AK rifle. The side rail is universal. You can even add a PGO-7 scope on a AK rail. I like the idea of a PSO being salvageable on a destroyed VSS or SVD scope.

I agree. A matte black finish would look better.

That airsofter could looks less like a slob and at least blouse his pant legs. I think we need a new store front that looks like a surplus store or Chernorussian rebel holdouts in civilian areas that could have milsurp uniforms.

I think people are over reacting. I could see collectors in rich areas buying one as a novelty pre collapse. The worst thing is it isn't chambered in .357. I have fond memories of berating a would be ambusher in breaking point after mag dumping his DMR and golden plated Deagle on my group and failing to score a hit on a group of over 10 people boarding a helicopter while no one was paying attention. If anything it can be a disadvantageous item, where it's perceived status and coolness factor is chosen over are more practical weapon by foolish players.

will there be a Boeing AH-64 Apache someday for Dayz standalone?
stielhandgranate replied to joshua barreto's topic in Suggestions
Too durable. Although I like the idea of coming across wrecks or abandoned AH-64s left on tarmacs or hanger bays that were left to the elements and beyond reuse. Would be a good place for some M9 or M11 pistols, one piece flight suits or two piece multicam suits or some helmets, nomex gloves or and aircrew chest rigs. That has potential. -
What clothing set/weapons would you add if you could?
stielhandgranate replied to SomeCallMeNomad (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
I like Azov's look.I really hope mulitcam OCP uniforms or a European equivalent comes in after MARPAT uniforms. Does the Ukrainian Negev use a non NATO round like their Tavor rifle? -
I would like to say the idea of consistent western spawns could maybe be extended to a type of embassy or consulate? It is not uncommon for a small security from the embassy's country of origin to be stationed there with their own weapons/uniforms/and equipment.

The FN FAL not a British gun. It was designed and made by Fabrique Nationale, also known as FN. From Belgium. The British and Commonwealth states used the L1A1, a version of the FN FAL that was built to imperial measurements rather then metric. Also the idea of it being restricted to helicopters is ludicrous. The FAL (or L1A1 if they use that design) should be found where Chernorussian red star insurgent caches should be located. It makes more sense that rebels were using it rather than the regular army of Chernorussia or Western/Eastern special forces. Sorry for the sidebar.

Seeing how zombies are infected with some type of hyper aggression disease, I think a class of zombie clutching rocks or melee weapons like wrenches or knifes would be an interesting thought that could be visited. It would diversify the types of enemies besides the the standard zombies and the suspended hopper. Some players could try to pick a fight with a zombie to recover it's weapon. There are cases of monkeys using simple tools like sticks and rocks so it may not be far fetched to see diseased human that turns them into feral animals using something to assist them when attacking someone or something. Of course arming zombies with a firearm or mechanical object is out of the question and they should be a minority in a cast of enemies. It would at least justify item and clothing damage better.

item 'ruined' state is broken IMO
stielhandgranate replied to anarky321's topic in General Discussion
I agree. System sucks. But hopefully it will get replaced one day. Zombie attacks me with his hands once,Your vest and everything inside of it is now ruined as if it was thrown in a industrial grade wood-chipper. Fuck you zombies. -
Hollywood bullshit. Landmines don't have a countdown or a two step pressure plate. Once you step on one it's game over. I do think a better way to implement them is to create random minefields at bases where a player can risk trying to recover one for their own uses.

Maybe its from wearing the MICH helmet for the part of 7 years. The British helmets just seem awkward and too wide. I'm sure its for impact resistance but sill seems goofy compared to other helmets.
-
Well we have "British assault packs" and "DPM" Boonie hats so Brits in country seems fine to me. Throw in their goofy helmets too.
