something like ropes to attach guns and axes
stielhandgranate replied to irgamer's topic in Suggestions
Too much. Most long guns in military use will have slings equipped and most civilian firearm owners will own slings so they don't have to hand carry their long gun on extended trips. It shouldn't be overly difficult for new players to grab a tool like an axe, a rifle, then flee the city as in real life you would find a way to do the same quickly to avoid looters and other hazards. Need sting or a sling? Use a belt or a shoelace. -
It's only a matter of time before you randomly die.

The thing is broken bones that are set heal stronger than before. Of course this process takes months in real life, however time for your character is sped up. Hence why you can die of starvation in hours even if you ate a can of food recently. -

Don't items only take damage if someone is wearing or holding it? -
Man, we just won the 5.45x45 war not too long ago. Are we up to convince the devs to add another caliber?
-
We should be able to light trash cans on fire then feed them sticks, books and logs to keep the fire alive. In the mod, there were oil drums that could be lit to make fires with matches.

For those of you that have lost faith in DayZ...
stielhandgranate replied to pabloottawa's topic in General Discussion
Oh, you can't criticize dayZ unless you have developed video games? Lets apply that logic elsewhere: You can't criticize a politician unless you have a paid position in the Government. You can't criticize a TV show because you never produced one of your own. You can't dislike ISIS because you were never a terrorist/insurgent/partisan or self proclaimed "freedom fighter". -

What incentive is there for the game to be developed into a finished project? The "Early Access Alpha" already hit peak sales. Are we expecting a "DayZ completed product" to exceed prior release sales? Did ArmA 3 sell more copies on release or during development? -

At the moment the in depth mechanics are being implemented in a real shitty way. Bleeding,Hunger,Bone damage,Disease,Exposure,Weight,Stamina shouldn't be partly implemented partly then worked on at the same time. One should be the point of attention, then once that mechanic is in working order work on the next one. This bone integrity issue is a real upset for the fact that you can't delay or repair it. I see clans and two man teams killing each other to reset their character while the other sits on their loot. -
Is steam not updating my copy of dayz or are the servers down for maintenance longer than usual?
-
Get all your profit upfront for an unfinished project? I'm sure this isn't the last project to do so.
-
for some reason I only see experimental servers, why?
-
Yes but isn't it Wednesday and updates, even minor hotfixes drop on Wednesdays?
-
Decrease the child backback? Why? It carries as much as a high cap vest, doesn't seem broken.

Surplus Wehrmacht uniforms/helmets

Here is a reenactment taking place in Norway. Buddy feeding off of another's chest rig? Make it happen devs. Oh and here are some German Reenactors, In Russia. Some good points. I like the thought of someone looting a house with all other useful items pilfered and having to take something as old or tacky as a mulsurp uniform due to lack of options. Then something like in the end of the movie "The Pianist" where the main character almost gets killed by a Soviet patrol because he is wearing a German coat can happen as a game experience. -

The Soviet Union is long gone, yet you still see Soviet uniforms and equipment at places that had a less than positive relationship with them. Also dispute what they may think of your enemy, it is a common to see soldiers take items such as uniforms and helmets as souvenirs, with non damaged examples such as jackets, helmets, and weapons being valued for war loot. In the US it is common to see such items from Germany and Japan for sale at gun shows from collectors who inherited such items. Lastly repliecas are common with reenactment groups Europe such as Second Battle Group, who played as Germans in the movie Saving Private Ryan. T -

Here is an example of a German Camo cover. Interesting how the Spetsnaz gorka camo patterns seem to be a copy of German late war patterns. -

I think the dated Soviet surplus uniform hat might hint at further milsurp uniforms. So I think these would be a great counterpart. -
Due to engine limitations we will not have firearms using more than one ammo type. This is why shotgun slugs were deleted. I doubt the upcoming rework of RV will allow it.

Increase Chernarus size with the new engine.

Man this RV rebrand is pissing me off. Of course the Dev Defense Force are going to roll in and claim this "new" engine will do everything we wish but the reality is for all of the profit to input this project has they should really just license a professional engine like cryengine 3. RV and it's slightly tweaked variants are unfit for this type of game. -

The casual COD immigrants could be the death of this game. I remember being told that one complaint of the last yearly COD rehash was the PVP maps were too large. There is zero faults of having a bigger map in dayz. Takes longer to get to good loot? Good thing. Ground vehicles can no longer take you anywhere on the map in 10 minutes? Good thing. More of a bother to reach your buddies or recover gear from your body after death? Good thing. -
I love those clown masks. I remember one time running around in full kit (like to go full slav soldat) and some clown bandit tries to rush me with a fireaxe until he realizes I have a pistol drawn. As I pump the would be highwayman with lead I see "Please don't friendly" in the chat feet.

For those saying "hey they are going to use all that unused land nobody went to in the mod" you are dead wrong. The areas free of towns, bases, roads and land marks were where player bases were made. Once the player cap reaches 70 and there are vehicles, the map will feel very very small. where do you put your tent or truck when every area is near a town or a route to a point of interest? In order for the game to thrive with vehicles not being used to ferry freshly killed teammates to the NWAF to gear up in 15 minutes the map will need an expansion. In order for the map to support over 70 players without every grid square being occupied by several players we will need an Altis sized map. Breaking point for ArmA 3 was great in where even if your group was set up with a helicopter, getting a fallen comrade without risking your air asset at the fresh spawn area was risky and chances are recovering your teammate was going to take a few hours. Without transprt it might take half the day to make it to the east side of the map, let alone a point of interest. If we keep the Dayz map this size vehicles will become NWAF taxis and even without, getting your battle buddy will take 40 minutes tops. -
If this was a "spare time" project and they got that much progress on it, then hopefully the FN FAL,G3 and other "Spare time" items may make it down the pipeline soon.
