I think collapsible stocks should shorten the space a rifle takes. The up coming weight system should balance things out.

Are we going to get dismemberment/gore?
stielhandgranate replied to UltimateGentleman's topic in General Discussion
Or maybe they don't die of exposure because they aren't living in the same sense as a normal human. Also the zombies running up hills is a coding issue as they don't have any scripts to tell them to slow down when approaching obstacles or other hazards unlike in the dayz mod where zombies would walk up hills rather than run or walk when indoors. I'm not sure there is a walk animation for zombies rather than run. -

I guess the writer of the twilight book series must be an undisputed literary genius simply because of the high volumes of sales and anyone who would disagree must be a troll. -

You compared my observation that the zombies would die of exposure to AI coding issues. The two are not connected. I don't understand the desire to disconnect the zombies as undead and rather rabid infected, but otherwise healthy humans. -

If the zombies in dayz are infected normal people, why have they not all died from exposure? No zombie in game is clothed to protect them from the cold. Also the "we don't need gore" argument is lame. The current blood spigot effect sucks and bodies hit with multiple gunshot wounds should tear apart like their real life counterparts. Nothing would be more unnerving then seeing your battle buddy get torn open by a DShK or PKM during a gun fight or dismembered in a car accident/grenade attack/gas station explosion. -
Few things with that. There are no vendors selling ballistic knives. Most people claiming to sell these things in the US tend to be phishing scams. They are very rare and many people possessing them are hesitant to sell them due to convoluted laws regarding their ownership and transfer. Even if such a device could penetrate a second chance vest, it may not have enough energy after defeating the vest to inflict a serious wound. This is an issue that comes up when using hollow point ammo on armored or heavily clothed people.

You face the problem that: 1) It isn't a item that is issued or mass produced and sold to the public, military or civilian. 2) Even if you had one of the 80s era examples that were sold in solider of fortune magazine ads, killing or disabling a human without making noise would be very difficult. They don't have sights, so you can't aim for a vital area with ease from a reasonable distance. Also thick clothing like a chest rig or even a toggle coat could prevent the blade from penetrating deep. I doubt the spring shown in cutaways of a ballistic knife could launch the blade with enough force to bypass these obstacles.

Its nice to see you don't play the call of duty series but you can not deny that ballistic knifes have gained notoriety from the video game in question. Also I was referring to calling a sniper rifle like the M24 a "sniper". A sniper is a specialist that uses the rifle in question. Calling a sniper rifle a "sniper" comes from video game slang to shorten sentences during online gaming.

I think for gunfire and explosions, fallout 3 style dismemberment would be fitting. Might up the rating in certain areas, but sales wouldn't suffer. -
Nah, they want it for it's popularity in COD. Look at how many people on the forums refer to sniper rifles and DMRs as "Snipers", or call magazines "Clips".

Smersh Vests: Holy grail? + Mi-8 crash sites in general.

Here is the video of Chris Torchia claiming the spawn was "fixed" and shouldn't have been so rare in the first place. -

the best part is how Chris T said the SMERSH wasn't supposed to be a helicopter wreck exclusive spawn. Who is fucking up the spawn coding right now? -
Shotguns, reloading internal magazines, and Chainsaw / power-tools?

The game needs a saiga 12. It shares the same buttstock as the AKM/AK74/AK101 and can accept a PSO-1 scope, as well as any AK side mounted optic on it's accessory rail. Despite it's menacing look, it can be a civilian/police spawn. -
The term bandit what it means now
stielhandgranate replied to gannon46's topic in General Discussion
Bandit and crazed murderer seem to have become one in DayZ. I think the fact that your character has more to lose in standalone has led to paranoia. Its interesting how the ownership of something like a rifle or vest makes your player so much more valuable than in the mod. -

Tell me about it. Breaks my heart knowing I'll never own a select fire M4 or automatic belt fed machinegun. -

We already have cowboy themed gear, and I really don't see a reason we can't have both Wehrnacht and Soviet uniforms. I would bank on the Soviet Officer cap being an indication that there are plans to implement older gear from the Soviet era. -

Images again of some reenactments in Czech Republic. Really hate double posting like this, but I thought I'd share some of the impressive images of reenactors with their kit. A point of interest is that Czech Republic seems to have more friendly laws than the United States regarding the ownership of automatic weapons, leading to a significant amount of WW2 era machine guns like the MG42 in civilian hands. -
Some ideas for weapons and additions.

Bumping my thread with a piece of unusual, yet surprisingly affordable milsurp: For the price of a new sports car you can be the owner of a fully operational half track (although not a authentic SdKfz. 251, but a post WW2 Czech copy). Such examples are popular with collectors, reenactor guilds and film sudios. http://www.mortarinvestments.eu/products/armoured-vehicles-4/ot-810-90#currency=USD Imagine a world where a clan of bandits roplaying as moon nazis engage a rival group in full Gorka suits as the Gorka faction bring up a DsKM equipped BTR-40 to counter a MG3 equipped OT-810. -
half implemented spinal injury mechanic the devs implemented by mistake. After a certain amount of over time, you will be one shot regardless of heath.

"Warning" Military Base - Death Pit
stielhandgranate replied to sobieski12's topic in General Discussion
doe that WIP concrete base even have item spawns besides the reused military buildings? -
There has been more than one time where I walked out of a gun battle and realized my helmet was ruined and probably saved my life. Not too sure on the MASKA, but the MICH is a life saver.

That server has one thing going for it. First person only master server.
