Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)
stielhandgranate replied to SmashT's topic in General Discussion
Welcome to the forums. The subject of the broken AI is a matter the Devs are working on. Just don't expect it to resemble a working model any time soon. Also: Only use axes and tazers as melee weapons. All other melee weapons are useless in the current game iteration. Turn any clothes you find that you aren't wearing or handing off to a battle buddy into rags. Empty item blocks not filled with rags? You are in the wrong. And keep rags in every compartment of your person (Shirt, backpack, pants) in case a zombie attack leaves one of your inventory compartments in ruin. -
The Community's List of Suggested Weapons for Dayz Standalone (Version: 1.29)

Actually the SPAS 12 makes a decent choice when you consider the fact that it has been out of production for over 10 years and the dev team wouldn't need to secure permission to use a true to life model and it's correct name. "But why not the Saiga 12/What does this gun do that the Saiga doesn't?" Although both are semiautomatic shotguns, one is detachable magazine fed while the other is tube magazine fed. One gun can accept accessories easily while the other cannot, while having a collapsible stock. Add both. -
Does anyone dislike the "no military stuff" agrument?
stielhandgranate replied to stielhandgranate's topic in General Discussion
This isn't a debate on the war in Iraq, don't make it one. Manchester and New York City do not allow the citizenry to possess select fire rifles legally unlike the Iraqi government, past and current, nor are they war zones where local and nearby governments would support Partisan movements. You're delusional if you think small arms are as common in the former. The Argument at hand is that weapons such as the ones depicted in dayz and often requested such as the Saiga 12 would be common place in the environment the developers selected. Had they wanted a weapons list restricted to single shot hunting rifles and wheel guns, they wouldn't have picked a location set in civil war with foreign military involvement. -

If we want shootouts to die down or get more intense, the devs should add empty magazines to the loot table, or just replace the loaded magazine spawn with an empty one. Helps make ammo scarce. -
Hopefully we'll see the shoe life cycle get extended.
-
I remember that Dev blog, I really don't like hearing "Yeah we fixed it, it should be more common now" two updates ago.
-
I dont understand the holdup on fixing the loot table for this. All I want is a SMERSH and to see that RAK submachinegun in action.

Manchester in UK, and New York City, despite assumptions that everywhere in the US has personal firearms rights, is very restrictive in the sense that that only the waethy and well connected can own pistols and semiautomatic rifles and pump action shotguns are outlawed. Chernarus is a fictonal location similar to war torn Iraq or East Ukraine, imagine if dayZ took place in Donetsk or Baghdad, would the anti military crowd still have a leg to stand on? I know late reply. 20 hour flights suck. -

Gone where? Where do these looters and military personnel go to turn in such gear away from the local area? Everyone equipped with a M16A2 and PASGT vest made it out of the area before getting slotted by a zombie or other human? -

Any of you guys wonder what time period dayz is in.
stielhandgranate replied to Azzerrrr's topic in General Discussion
It's clear you haven't researched anything at all and base your assumptions as fact. Chernarus is based on Czech Republic. Here is a source for you, something you use back up a statement or declaration: http://kotaku.com/dayz-developers-went-to-the-real-chernarus-took-pictur-506063198 http://dayz.gamepedia.com/Chernarus#Trivia Also for WW2 German uniforms and your claim that such an item could only be located in Russia, when you take basic world history when you get older, you'll learn that WW2 included more combatants than Nazi Germany and Soviet Russia. Or that basic commerce and transportation allows people of sovereign nations besides Russia to acquire such goods. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allies_of_World_War_II http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Axis_powers -

There were movies and video games that featured the SPAS 12 before COD. I don't like the idea of implementing it in DayZ, however I don't like the idea of adding in .22 pistols with integrated suppressors and double barrel rifles valued at 5k. -

It does not and you will never provide a source that says the contrary. -

Although I like the looks of the SPAS 12, it is a very flawed weapon. They had parts that needed replacement that were critical to ensuring the receiver doesn't get ruined with continued use. Compared to other shotguns like the Saiga 12 and Vepr 12 the SPAS 12 loses in weight, costs, accessories, maintenance and magazine capability. Almost every comparable shotgun such as the Armsel striker beat it as well. -
No Destruction of Certain Objects: Guns, stones
stielhandgranate replied to agouti's topic in Suggestions
Reminds me of this time me and a few buddies were laughing our asses reading a terrible website that collected call of duty fan fictions. One of the showcased entries had a Generic Russian badguy antagonist break an SKS rifle over his knee. Anyway certain items should just be scripted to not be damaged from hand to hand attacks, guns should be one of these items. Good luck punching any of the firearms featured in dayz to pieces. -
Breaking down an M4A1 into a lower and upper receiver would be a good idea. They pretty small when separated and could be stashed in a pack with ease.

The forum isn't a democracy. Just because you don't want to add something to your suggestion thread or it doesn't get approval on your polls, doesn't mean others aren't allowed to post their own thread regarding it. Participating in your thread isn't a dayz forum rule for suggesting weapons. Not that I agree with OP, but you can't clam everyone HAS to use your weapons thread. -
Learned that trick in AIT. Good idea. The more uses every item gets the better.

Let me add on this to try to re-rail this thread. I would really like to see places like the tent cities become the location for common NATO/UNFOR loot. Items like MICH Helmets and 5.56 rifles would be fitting. Perhaps a battlefield littered with vehicle husks inspired by the Iraq highway of death would be a good place for looters to scavenge for NATO equipment. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Highway_of_Death -

You do a good job insulting yourself with your ignorance. Also pretending to be better than an American, or any other nationality simply because you were born elsewhere is what simpletons do to raise their self esteem. Chernarus isn't a real place so you can't assume 800 USD is a lot to the region and even if it is these weapons aren't going to be in every household. Transportation is not a concern as these are not new production weapons being shipped in from the US and are being transported by ground from neighboring areas. 800 USD is not a lot for a working class person especially in Europe where the working class earns more on average than their American counterpart. SKS rifles cost even less and in Czech Republic (The same place this region is based on if you forgot) automatic weapons can be had legally for less than 500 USD. -

For someone that dogged Americans in a earlier post you are acting like a stereotypical arrogant American. Chernarus may have a poor backwater but so does every Superpower nation in the world. The Capital city, Novograd is not present in the map, and every city is laden with shops and utilities such as power plants and infrastructure like emergency services and factories indicating a large working class. Firearms on the level of WW2 and early cold war surplus is very cheap with common long guns selling for less than 1000 USD. M1 Garands in the US sell for about 800 USD and there are hundreds of thousands of examples overseas. Stop getting butthurt over the M1 Garand. The Blaze 95 makes less sense due to it's high market cost, yet I see little fuss over it. -

the price for a server is too damn high at the moment. Wait until you can change the loading screen backdrop or they allow server runners to customize the server experience outside of chat messages.

Getting back on track, I would prefer MARPAT and/or Multicam before BDU pattern. There is a confirmed data mined MOLLE plate carrier vest so that may be in the works. Seeing how the M4A1 and M203 are already coded in the game I would like to see another US weapon system spawn at crashsites such as the M14 EBR, M249, and M240b. The skins for the aforementioned firearms are available from ArmA 2 and 3. Also to address the whiners about how these guns aren't Russian, they need to remember the game isn't set in Russia or even based in Russia. It is based on Czech Republic, a place where Western and Warsaw pact firearms are commonplace. -

The established lore includes Operation Harvest Red, an Event where US Marines enter Chernarus. US UN involvement is irreverent. Also the French are not replacing their FAMAS rifle due to "lack of power" (All NATO 5.56 rifles run the same ammo, M855 or M193 so this "power" bullshit comes from video game statistics) but rather the fact that the French have a hard time getting replacement units and parts due to little domestic small arms manufacture capablities. That is, unless something changed recently and France is adopting a 7.62 battle rifle rather an a 5.56 rifle.
