I'd love to see some of these rusting in the forests on long treks. Maybe a good idea, clump them all together with some T-34 and Su-series tank husks WW2 era highway of death to make a unique location on the map:

I will work This hammer is heavy May I have some shoes? There are no more supplies to carry I guess I should help Do not hurt me You change your mind often

I think we can both agree that "hackers could use it" is a bad reason. Hackers isn't something we should accept in this game's long term and hopefully we can see some better anti cheating measures in game.

Anything useful is a target for server hoppers and hackers. This argument is invalid. CoD does not have useable mortars. Too military like? Welcome to a game based on location littered with military involvement.

You're wrong. The SKS and mosin nanant hasn't seen professional military use in a very long time and are cheap and popular rifles in civilian circles where people can get them. Just because you don't like the fact that they are convenient and good weapons doesn't mean you can claim they are military weapons in an attempt to get them marginalized. This isn't the brady campaign forums.

As critical as I am with the devs, one real nice feature of this game is the ability to cut down certain weapons and trade advantages and disadvantages for it.With two weapons that have this feature already in game I believe the M79 is a suitable third. What is the M79 for those who aren't weapon aficionados? It is a single shot, break action 40mm grenade launcher that has mostly been replaced with the M203 and M320 series grenade launchers in the US military. It currently still sees limited service due to the fact that it has a longer maximum effective range and can accept certain 40mm grenade rounds that are too long for the M203. Apparently Special Forces groups have taken to cutting down the barrels and stocks of M79s to make compact launchers called "pirate guns" by their operators. How could this all fit in game? Well 40mm rounds are confirmed and the M79 in it's current configuration could be an alternative to people using M203s and having to locate leaf sights and a compatible rifle to attach them to. Cutting down a M79 will have you lose a lot of the range and the sights, but offer you a compact weapon you can still use in certain situations and conceal from others in your garments. Here is an image of a sawed off M79: And here is a image of a unmolested M79:

TL- This isn't your local peaceful neighborhood, its the site of civil war with several nations involved militarily. Look at Iraq and Ukraine, military equipment litters the place and the locals make great use of it. Add zombies and people you can't trust then yes, I'll take a military uniform and vest over canvas shorts and a cloth sack. Not to say there should be no civilian loot, but Military loot should be in as much in abundance and variety.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hirtenberger_M6C-210 Light mortars, short range, weight, takes skill to fire accurately (seriously ask anyone who used one in the military). Would allow player made events. Imagine shitting yourself in a city hearing one of these things land a few blocks away.

Potental sawed off-able weapon: M79

Grenade launchers have been in use longer than you have been playing cowadoody. -
Surplus Wehrmacht uniforms/helmets

Medieval swords have been confirmed. Nice to see some retro stuff make it to the game. -
shemagh: why and an easy way to implement it

Just as common as Cowboy hats. These things are commercially available in East Europe. -

I would love RPG-7s, but M203s are confirmed and they both utilize the same ammunition. The M79 has the advantage that it can be sawed off like the Mosin Nagant and double barrel shotgun. -
The People of DayZ (What Makes You Special?)

Name: Soldat Spurdo Passive Bandit Story: Soldat Spurdo Was the president of the Chernarus Defense Force anime club despite his lowly rank of Soldat and his several reprimands for "acquiring" and hoarding a high amount of spetznaz helmets, boots and gorka uniforms with the intent of equipping fellow club members. Young Spurdo abandoned his post with his fellow anime club members during the first stages of the outbreak to download and preserve their favorite animes and video games before the inevitable collapse of the internet. Spurdo and his colleges spend their time looking for exotic firearms like PM 63s and M4A1s and the elusive SMERSH vest, a once common piece of military equipment now worth it's weight in platinum after the Chernarussian Defense Force high command ordered all vests loaded onboard helicopters and shotdown for unknown reasons. -

Remove random laughing as a side effect for cannibalism please.
stielhandgranate replied to Jhunt7507's topic in Suggestions
No, keep laughing and crying as a side effect. Devs are on the first steps of making consequences to actions that are realistic. Good job Dev team for this. -
Really? People wouldn't think "Man I need a gun, the nearby abandoned military instillation might have some". Thats like saying people don't crowd to police stations or military instillations for safety during riots or social collapse or local crisis such as earthquakes, which they do.

Things like fleece sweaters, gortex jackets and crye combat pants are comfy and inexpensive. Many verterans of Afghanistan and Iraq retain their gear for this reason or offload it to surplus stores where it meets people who want it. Its unrealistic to think no one collects such articles or would use them during the end of society.

Attaching scopes should require a tool as well as "sighting in".
stielhandgranate replied to Aimex's topic in Suggestions
How about something like this. You attach your long range scope on your rifle. Its off sight. You can kentucky windage it or scroll wheel it and "Zero in scope" option appears. If you select this option when outdoors your character shoots at an object in the distance, after RNG takes no more than one magazine's worth of ammo, you get the message in the feed "I have zeroed in my weapon". -

You're playing the wrong game. You can freeze to death in game and need a can opener to open tin cans without penalty. This game isn't for casuals. -

stielhandgranate replied to Aimex's topic in Suggestions
If I gave you an ACOG and an AR-15 I doubt you could guarantee to hit targets past 50 meters without zeroing it. -

Which does not mean merely finding an optic and a compatible rifle finish your endeavor. Should blood types be removed because finding a donor and a blood kit is hard? Or repairing vehicles when they are implemented? -
So a look on https://twitter.com/ctorchia shows the new model for the Streyr AUG. Looks good, seems like we might get interchangeable barrels, But it appears to be the A1 version. Why does this matter? Well if we had the Steyr AUG A3 we can use the STANNAGs/P-Mags already in game for the M4A1 and have cross compatibility with the ACOG and M68 optics. Thoughts? Here is the AUGA3. As you can see it can accept P-Mags, and thus STANNAGs. As well as a Picatinny rail on top for optics such as the ACOG and M68. Here is the AUGA1, the same model shown on Chris Torchia's twitter. The magazine well is not compatible with STANNAGs or P-Mags. The optic is not rail mounted, and this means non compatibility with the ACOG and M68.

Steyr AUG: Use the A3 and not the A1 version
stielhandgranate replied to stielhandgranate's topic in Suggestions
Thats not the cod route bud. Thats the modern military route. Just becuase something happens to be featured in call of duty doesn't make it the same level as dual golden tiger striped desert eagles. Picattiny rails and compatabily with STANNAGs help more than hurt as the Aussies, Irish and Kiwis below show. -
Skinning other players (hot topic obviously)
stielhandgranate replied to 11tw's topic in Suggestions
Lets not put anything too crazy, like stealing blood from others, force feeding them rubbing alcohol and Windex or gunning down unarmed players, or else little billy's momma isn't going to buy him a copy of dayz for Christmas.
