A few questions, thinking of buying this

Also, dont get to owrapped up in FPS either. This game seems to defy the usual connections between FPS as a numercical value, and what you actually see on screen with your own eyes. I have a silky smooth experience and yet Fraps reports 14 to 25 fps.
  2. I tend to text chat and voice chat - but if there is no reply, I'll shoot. I know it stinks, but after exposing myself by hailing, the last thing I want to do is then turn my back on someone who chooses to remain silent. If it is a bug - not my problem. If it is because player doesnt understand - again, not my problem.

    Your server of choice

I play late in the evening, so I prefer servers that have time shifted to day light hours. One in particular that is always reliable and fast is UK32 and I think it is run by 'latenightcrew'. I'd donate to them if they had the option on their site.
  4. Me and a buddy just got kicked from a UK server for the same reason. Never seen it before.

Glitchy zombies and no loot spawning

+1 for glitchy zeds since 1.7.2 They appear and dissappear at random. Sometimes they are just simply stuck in one spot. In a military tent, one glitched right on top of me and killed me instantly with a massive blood damage hit. P.S. this is not the usuall zed spawns - this is full on glitching.

    I'm Now a Deathmatch Player

The other night, a dude bought his zombie train up into the tower is hiding out in. All he had was a hatchet and I had an AK. He hesitated when he saw me, but he soon saw that I was covering his ass. I took care of the zombies and scrounged around for medical supplies. He could of hatcheted me from behind, but he didnt. He gave me morphine, I gave him water. We went on our separate ways. This is a typical game for me - I avoid conflict, but help where I can. Only occasionaly do I mistrust others enough to open fire first. Sometime I wonder what servers you guys use that have such wanton murder.

    What is with Direct Chat?

It's a shame that folk dont take time to understand DC, because lack of communciation is the one reason I'll take someone out. I don't like too, because I prefer to buddy up with folk. But no response - no mercy.
  8. I don't understand - 2 months is a typical amount of time to get bored with a game. Even if this game was everything you wanted, you'd get bored still.
  9. Well it looks like the latest patch is an attempt to make this game about survivors versus zombies again. At long last. A random guy took a few post shots at me in small town, and he attracted a horde to himself and got killed. It was hilarious. Thanks for the kit dude - Call Of Duty is that way >>>>

    Rocket's overall plan.

There's your problem, right there... see? you believe it is 'made'. It hasn't been made. It is still under going extensive development.
  11. This is not the first time I've heard about these guys. How shameful that they have borrowed the name of the most elite and honourable soldiers, whilst adopting this foul and ungentlemanly behaviour.
  12. He wasnt in the town - he was on the outskirts in the hills. I have been attacked on many occasion from these distances and the attacker usually gets left alone. But today, about 15 zombies just launched from the town and ran to him.
  13. 11 attempts at 11 different servers. Stuck at the same character creation screen. So in a nut shell - the update has caused problems. Quick question - is there a way to predict that the game will keep getting stuck before the loading in process? It seems odd to load a game in first, and then decide to check for problems.
  14. As a Brit - I felt a modicum of pride when I read this post. :D I would like to add that I have found Dutch players to be rather helpful and cool too. They are few and far between, but they are as chilled as ice.
  15. Thanks. I'll certainly look into that. Appreciated.
  16. I prefer Armarize hugely over Six Launcher - but I certainly give your one a look too. Good luck!!
  17. Just installed a SSD set up and would recommend it thoroughly. The whole computer speeds up, let alone the DayZ game. I have 8GB so I may try the Ram Disc if it isnt too much hassle. But right now, I have a slick running game so I'm more than happy.
  18. A suggestion to make PvP aspect of the game enjoyable for everyone. Read the whole thread before replying please. First off, this is most certainly not an anti pvp post. The pvp aspect of the game adds a terrifying edge to the whole experience and it needs to stay. However..... it has now become the only way to play the game. It is essentially the most rewarding way to play and reduces other game styles to that of simply one of always hiding. A balance need to be met. This is my idea...... Skins - yeah I know it has been tried but hear me out. At the beginning of the game, one must select his character intentions. Either good or bad. A skin is then assigned that is recognisably different, but only when reasonably close. Keep it subtle. " but hang on!! " - you ask - " why would someone look different just because they have good or bad intentions? " Good question!!. Here's the answer. In life we can make judgement calls based on our wits, experiences, gut feeling, and what we glean from the art of conversation. The Arma2 engine does not facilitate that. We are simply all given a cookie cutter skin that lacks any of the nuances we would expect in real life. But by implementing a subtle visual clue, this could be the games way of telling folk - 'this guys is not trustworthy.' " but wait " - you say - " say if someone selects good guy, but still PK's? " Another good question, well done!! Here is my solution. Bad players get to play as bad as they like, when they like. As said before, the only disadvantage is that there is a small visual clue that reveals their mean streak. Good players however, get penalised when they descend into a life of murder and greed. For every murder, they take on a psychosis that exponentially effects their sanity. They start to shake and perhaps hallucinate. They also start to involuntary talk to themselves, which others may hear. This can be addressed by use of narcotics that the players must scavenge like any other item. And a dependency can form too. A good guy turned bad will start having to hide his intentions from his party. Extended periods of peaceful living would also contribute to reducing the effects. This idea offers much fairness and facilitates many play styles, whilst sticking to an approximation of real life behaviour. * PvP matches can happens as usual. Those that enjoy * Anyone can change their play style when they feel like * Good guys can still be untrustworthy - keeping the paranoia element alive * Community spirited players can thrive and team up with a touch more confidence. Obviously - this is just a few ideas. I'd like to know what you think and perhaps find any bad points that I have failed to realise.
  19. I don't wish to provocate, I hate racism and have many American gaming buddies. It's just....well...... I am finding most pvp heavy servers are American ones. My XBox buddy ( an American ) pretty much seconded this to me. I have found a great little European server were PvP threats are balanced out with cooperative players. Other guys have hinted at this too. It's not the game - it's the mentality of the players.
  20. Thanks for your input. It meant nothing but have a sticker for 'trying hard' anyway. My suggestions were made 4 days ago and they haven't been mentioned before. Regardless, Specter has shone a light on them and I can see his angle. If the presence of a thread is concerning you, bumping it doesn't help.
  21. Specter - Yeah I see your points. But like I said, the game engine doesn't facilitate a method of folk being able to weigh someone up. A skin with a minor alteration would be a compromise, not necessarily an ideal solution. Regarding your points.... Looting is then made a 'crime' when it shouldn't be. Folk would walk past many dead bodies that they never even shot, to avoid being tagged a murderer. Also, snipers who shoot from afar and have no intention of looting avoiding getting tagged too. Plus, folk who have murderers intention from spawn but have yet to kill are also seen as good guys. One can play this game for many hours before having enough time to kill or loot. Thanks for chipping in. It seems as though a solution is far off that would encourage role playing elements rather than all out death match.
  22. I was crawling into large ish town with a broken leg. I hear a gunshot right next to me. I flick into 3dp mode and see someone on a tower taking pot shots at me as I crawl around. He was toying with me or a very very bad shot. I hail friendly and try asking for help. I just got a smiley face back in return. Then the stupid fool gets shot himself by someone else. His body lands across from me. Thanks for the morphine and stuff and dude!! I was out of there before the other guy showed up.
