Combined Ops is just ARMA 2 and OA in one package, it costs more and you don't NEED it to play DayZ, you'll just have crappy textures. Personally I'd buy Combined Ops just to support BIS. But it ISN'T required.

The time it is in the country the server is in. Generally, when it's night in Europe, it's around day time in America. Don't take this as fact. Your best bet is either to research into timezones (it takes 10 minutes, tops) or just server jump till it's day light!

What the hell is this rumour that you get banned for picking up hacked weapons? You only get a ban if you hack it in, unless you mean a server ban, but then you just switch server and drop the weapon. I'd like a dev to 100% confirm that you can't get a ban from using a hacked weapon, only for hacking it in. -
Learn how to sneak around properly, try to keep out of wide open areas as much as possible and keep looking around you by holding ALT to look around. Cities are full of people, you need to be careful and take as many back routes as you can. There are loads of better tutorials for this than Yogcast, which isn't a proper representation of the game.

It is L. Have you equipped the flash light to your primary slot from the back pack? and it only works at night, just in case. If it isn't L, just rebind it and try that.
