    KoS, an examination

That's great that you do that. And i'm not being sarcastic. You choose to play the game a different way, and that is your choice. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. But if another chooses to KoS then that is there choice and there is nothing wrong with that either. Everyone plays the game their way for different reasons.
  2. Tek (DayZ)

    Ethics of the common player

People aren't arguing "for" KoS per se. It's more along the lines of people can choose to play as they want. It is up to you to be ready for any and all situations that may arise. This may include a KoS player. Unless you bought Arma II for another player, you CANNOT tell that player how to play. So if someone wants to sit and shoot at people in Electro spawning, THAT IS THEIR CHOICE. You can then choose to run away, stand and let him shoot you, hunt him down, or make yourself hard to hit. The choice is yours. That is what a sandbox is.

    KoS, an examination

More like you fail to grasp the concept behind KOS. Those of us who do understand KOS understand the game better than those who are closed minded about it.

    Once again ...

So those who play the game differently from you now has personality issues? This gets better and better. Let me just set the record straight. You are a tool who has no idea what he is talking about. This "sandbox" game allows people to play the game as they want to. Just because I play the game for the excitement from PvP and not shooting zombies in no way signifies that I have a personality issue. I find the quite the opposite to be true. I understand that not everyone plays how I play. I can respect that. I don't enjoy just running around popping zombies and only fixing up cars just to go hide them in the woods. But I don't begrudge someone if that's the way they want to play. What really gets me ticked and hateful of players like yourself is you can't accept the simple fact that people who shoot on sight play the game a different way. No way is wrong. What is wrong is that carebears such as yourself try to force your playstyle on players like myself. If you want to go shoot zombies great. If I want to go shoot players in this VIDEO GAME, great. That does not make me a psycho or someone who has "issues". You want the game to go a certain way, then go play something that is linear, and forces the player into a type of playstyle that you want, where your choices are limited. I much prefer sandbox games where my choices are exponential. I can hunt players, animals, build a car up, fix a chopper, or run wild and crazy through the streets of Cherno with nothing more than an axe. I wouldn't necessarily do the last, but I have the CHOICE if I want to. You want to limit choices that conflict with your idea of what the game should be. Guess what. You're wrong. Do us a favor and go play hello kitty.

    Once again ...

So.... You got KoS, and say no problem. Yet you felt the need to post on the forums about you being killed on sight, and having no problem with it. And then you make the following statement. Talk about a hypocritical statement. If you don't like KOS just say so. Don't hide behind some made up face about how it's ok, but those people are inferior to you. Might I suggest a game called Hello Kitty? You won't have to worry about being shot by another player, losing your stuff, and crying about it. You won't even have to compete against anyone.
  6. In my opinion the two best maps are... 1. Lingor Island 2. Panthera I'm for the PvP and those maps I always get my best fights in. Namalsk is ok with the bloodsuckers removed, but other than that it's bleh. I recommend staying away from servers with bloodsuckers as it's just a joke. The bloodsuckers are invisible until they are within 5 meters of you, you can't out run them, and they don't die easily. Anyone who thinks bloodsuckers balance the game clearly has a poor idea of what gaming is supposed to be like.
  7. I am not against zombies getting harder. But it doesn't matter how tough you make zombies, to me zombies are just part of the scenery to the way I play the game. And that's PvP. Zombies are so easy to avoid that I run through towns and look for what I want as fast as I can. Sooner I am out of town the safer I am. But, it doesn't matter how "tough" you make zombies. With the AI of the zombies as they are now you can only get to a certain point before it breaks the playability of this mod. With warping through walls, phantom hits on you, you risk adding a negative impact to the game that doesn't necessarily make it more challenging. Just frustrating because of the AI. And my post you quoted was in no way related to zombies. It was more a long the lines of realistic/unrealistic things we are able to do in this game. IE repairing choppers/vehicles.
  8. This would be an example of a good realistic dynamic that would impact the challenge of the game. Adding wind does in no way change the playability of the game. I am not against the timer for eating per se. But there must be another means besides a blood bag to regenerate blood. This is a game play dynamic that would introduce a negative impact to the game. Not saying it would help with surviving, but there needs to be a means for a player to be able to get their blood back up over a reasonable amount of time then having to wait hours upon hours to eat steak. I am all for realism, but not at the stake of the ability to play a GAME. I love the challenge this game brings, but I also don't want it to get to a point where it because impossible to play. Would any average joe be able to run 10km's across the map to help a friend without stopping in real life? No. It is these kinds of things that need to proceeded with cautiously.
  9. Just because one gets a broken leg in the game does not mean that person has to suicide. I play with a small group, and while we're not always in the same location we are always ready to go help each other at a moments notice if needed. I run around with 2 morphine, 2 painkillers, and if available, 1 blood bag. Even when I don't have morphine the situations determine if it is better to suicide or wait for help. But you proved my point. If a broken bone were to take weeks, or even days in game time, to heal properly for your toon to run again, then you have added a dynamic that impacts the game negatively. With as easily as it is to break bones in this game that would put people off.
  10. I think people are forgetting a very KEY concept. While we all want the game to be as realistic as possible, there has to be some unrealistic features because this is a game. Playing a game is not real life and therefore you cannot have everything be so realistic that it takes a way from the purpose of playing a game. Yes, there should be challenges, and certain things should not be easy. But if you go overboard with "everything you do should be realistic" then you risk driving the player base away because the game becomes unplayable as a game. Yes, it is unrealistic to eat 10 steaks in a row to get back to full health. But it is just as unrealistic that anyone that finds a toolbox is suddenly a certified mechanic on every aspect of machinery and engineering. What percentage of the people in a country is going to be able to know how to fix a helicopter to be able to fly? It is unrealistic to just be able to fix a chopper to fly with no advanced training. Much less be able to repair any engine when it may require compression checking, new valve springs, or maybe even a new timing belt. It is also unrealistic to be able to take morphine to fix a broken bone. In real life all that does is take the pain away, but it does not solve the problem. So if we want the game to be as realistic as possible, why aren't people crying about morphine being able to fix broken legs. If you want realistic then a broken bone would take weeks to heal properly, and then a few more weeks to be able to do anything with it. Are we all suddenly doctors in game when we take a morphine that we can jump up from a broken leg and run full speed cross country? I think not. Fact is, certain things have to be unrealistic in this GAME so that the game is playable. Just because you want something to be as realistic as possible, and it sounds good on paper, does not mean it is going to be good in practice.

What is the problem of Dayz?

I agree. Private hives are the way to go. 1. You generally have active admins who try to promote their servers and kick off any hackers, cheaters, dupers. As long as the admins are good. That's why when you find a good private hive you put it in favorites. 2. You do get that community you talked about. You may not help someone you're talking to, but people learn who people are. I woudlnt' say that it cuts back on PvP, but it does help make the PvP better. You start competing against a group over a period of time you learn to respect them and also learn different tactics and strategies. I only ever play on private hives now. Mainly Lingor Island and Panthera. Both are much better than Chernarus. Now if we could only get the base building like in DayZ+ those maps would be even better.
  12. Tek (DayZ)

What is the problem of Dayz?

So because we choose to play the game a different way, that makes us selfish? This is a sandbox game that allows us to choose to play how we want. If I want to run through the streets of cherno with a hatchet, I CAN. If I want to steal a car and then blow it up, I CAN (or get shot in the process). You want the truth? The truth is the selfish people are the ones who think they have an entitlement to LIVE in this game when the point of the game is to SURVIVE. From both PvE, and PvP. The selfish people are the ones who cry about being shot because they were too stupid to pay attention to their surroundings; or run into a town that already has zombies out; or shoots up a storm in Cherno attracting every bandit around to home in on their location; and then cry about it when they get shot. Bandits selfish? I call bullshit. Bandits make you a better player. They're far from selfish.
  13. THIS IS A VIDEO GAME! Any real theoretical real world "this is what would happen" scenario's got checked into the dumpster at the click of the join button. Again, THIS IS A VIDEO GAME! Why people get upset over getting killed in a video game is beyond me. You see it all the time on these boards... someone crying about people who KOS, or kill in general... how they are immoral, unethical, greifers, or <insert favorite expletive>. I see it on Lingor island also, on the servers with side chat enabled... Someone dies and the next thing you see from them is A-HOLE!!! Or Hacker!! Or <insert crying expletive>! It's a VIDEO GAME! You may want to survive, and team up, and sing kumbaya next to a campfire. But I do not. You're not part of my group, therefore you are a target, and you will be shot. It doesn't matter what gear you may or may not have, how nice or mean you might be. We challenge ourselves by hunting survivors (geared or not geared) in this game. We find it challenging, fun, and exciting. It's a VIDEO GAME! When people understand this simple fact, that this is a VIDEO GAME, and that the only rule in DayZ is to survive, then people will have more fun, feel more free. You may want to RP someone who hoardes and gathers as many people to his side. I want to RP wielding that axe chasing you down, or AKM, or M24, or makarov. After all, THIS IS A VIDEO GAME!
  14. So if someone doesn't play this VIDEO GAME the way that you think it should be played then they have no integrity? Excuse me, i didnt realize that you were the shining example of how to play a game. You're lack of adjusting to WHY you are being shot speaks more to your ability to survive in this game than it does anything else in your selfish crying rant about INTEGRITY in a VIDEO GAME. After all, the one and only rule in this game is to survive. I do not know your intentions if i see you...

Learn to love death, not fear it.

Same thing with me! I hate losing because someone out smarted me. That is the competition i like in this game and why it has more depth to the pvp then other fps shooters. You have the whole environment to take into account when hunting someone.
  16. The great thing about this game is that you can play it how you want. Just because someone plays a bandit role and shoots people (whether fresh spawn or not) does not make them a bad person, or morally corrupt. This is a video game for crying out loud. Whether that player wanted to engage in PvP is irrelevent. He joined a game that has PvP at it's core, and thus accepted the risks inherent with the game when he joined a server. That player is participating in a PvP world, where a player has the choice to shoot or not shoot another player. It is not my fault if a player gets shot because they were not paying attention to their surroundings. It is not my fault if a player gets shot because they were standing on a hill side next to cherno twiddling their thumbs. It is not my fault if a player gets shot because they stood on a roof looking around. It is not my fault if a player has no sense of fear that they make themselves easy targets. A player has to play as if someone is near them (whether they like it or not) and act accordingly. I laugh at all the people who complain about being sniped and want sniper guns taken out. I have only been sniped in this game once (was my fault) because it is so easy to avoid. Now, I have been killed up close many times... but I never bitched and complained (unless it was due to a hacker) because I put myself in the situation to get shot. So I made a mistake somewhere along the way that gave my enemy the advantage. Learn from it and move on. Carebears can go cry themselves to sleep for all I care. I will never have any pity for carebears wanting to change the game.... they have 50,000 other games they can go play because they've already ruined them.
  17. Tek (DayZ)

they should make non PVP servers!!

Yup.. that's because we're just out to ruin other peoples day by shooting them.... in a video game no less. I get the feeling that a lot of these people who are against pvp (or want a choice) never played any organized sports (there are exceptions of course).
  18. Tek (DayZ)

they should make non PVP servers!!

It doesn't matter that you want a "choice" put in on the type of game you play per server. What matters, and what you fail to comprehend, is that it is the fact that you want to change a key design, probably the single biggest aspect of the game, that makes DayZ what it is. The fact that you want to change this design because you don't like the original design is where people get upset. Why can you not play the game as it was meant to be played? If you can't, and don't like the fact that you "could" get shot (PvP), then you need to GO PLAY ANOTHER GAME. One that is actually better situated to your desires of PvE only. May I suggest one of the other MMO's that have been ruined by your groups selfish desires for no PvP. Leave this games core design alone. No choice, play it as is, or go play another game. It's a simple choice. Carebears ruin games, and you want to do the same to this one.
  19. Tek (DayZ)

they should make non PVP servers!!

He wants a game where he doesnt want any fear. Where he can do what he wants, when he wants, how he wants. He in affect wants to change the way the game is played. Those kinds of players have ruined a lot of games because they were so butthurt over being killed by other players. He is a carebear.
  20. You seem to forget this is a VIDEO GAME! And one that is open world for people to play as they like how they like. If you don't like the pvp in the game then may i suggest hello kitty online? It might be more your style where you don't have to worry about confrontation or competition.
  21. Tek (DayZ)

they should make non PVP servers!!

Its a video game! What difference does it make if you died from zombies or died from a player? Dead is dead in this VIDEO GAME!
  22. Tek (DayZ)

    Sniper overdose?

Thing is... I dont understand why certain people get sniped so much when others can avoid it so easily. Avoiding being sniped is so easy that it baffles me. Ive sniped people many times and each time it was a shit they could have avoided. Dont stop in open areas. Dont stop in doorways. Run from cover to cover. Dont draw agro to yourself with zombies. Dont draw attention to yourself by shooting freely. Zig zag when moving through open areas. Think about where snipers would sit to get shots, and plan your route accordingly. If people actually think tactically there would be less sniper kills and less whining. And for the love of god, its a video game! I dont care if you die in a video game!
  23. Tek (DayZ)

What would you have done in this situation.....

It always amazes me how many people get so bent out of shape over KOS, or being killed in a VIDEO GAME. I want the firefights. I want people to shoot at me. This isnt real life, this is a game. Have fun with it and try not to have an anuerism because you got shot or had to shoot someone.
  24. Tek (DayZ)

What would you have done in this situation.....

I would have shot him in the water and be done with it. If you're not part of my group then you are a threat. I shoot first and ask questions later.
  25. Tek (DayZ)

    Boredom

Interesting... I didnt know this game could be beaten. Do you see credits scroll by when you win?
