  1. 7.62's sniper guns can have muzzle breaks put on if they want to. For the purpose of the game though, no, these sniper guns do not have the muzzle break. And I agree, I don't like the difference in damage done. If a bullet is the same then it should do the same damage. From a sound perspective yes, that redirection of energy is going to make the sound different at different area's. To the shooter it sounds like a cannon went off next to you. But to someone a ridge over, doesn't matter which direction, the sound is going to be different then if the gun did not have a break on it. It's kind of like when hunting someone may not even hear the sound of a rifle shot one canyon over, based on the terrain and how the sound moves through the canyon. The sound waves are affected. In game the FN Fal has this affect. People have noticed when standing behind me in game when I shoot a Fal that they don't hear much noise. But they get down range from me and the thing becomes a BOOM to them.
  2. Depends on the barrel configuration. Does it have a muzzle break? Etc etc etc....
  3. In real life there might be some truth to this. However, this is a game, and there has to be some balance to the game to allow for measured game play. If a player is fatigued to the point of not being able to move fast, would it not stand to reason that if zombies run that same distance, they might get fatigued as well for burning up what ever energy reserves they have left? They may be undead, but they would still be at the mercy of their body being able subject to movement, metabolism, energy, etc. Crying about realistic fatigue would affect zombies as well.

  5. I think this is horrible idea. Leave Bandits as they are. But if you want to give people incentive for people to go Hero then give them something to strive for. How about a halo around their head that shines really pretty? And some wings on their back so that they think they can fly and jump from roof top to roof top. In all seriousness, what makes this game so great is that there are NO LEVEL SYSTEMS. There is no L10 being able to beat a L1 just because he's 9 ranks higher. How you play as a player, your decisions, your reaction, your ability to assess situations, your ability to survive, that is what makes this game great. A guy with a hatchet can take out a guy with an LMG if the hatchet guy is highly skilled and the LMG guy is careless. That is how this game is supposed to be. The fact that someone gets sniped does not mean the problem is with the sniping guns. The problem lies with the player that got sniped and then complaining because they got sniped. That is the problem. This game gives no entitlements. Those who learn, adapt, evolve, and become better, are the ones that are going to survive the majority of their encounters (whether they shoot or not). If someone got sniped, heck just shot by anything, should try to figure out how and why they got shot and then learn from it. Stopping in the door way of a house facing a likely sniping spot is a good way to spawn on the beach. It is that lack of COMMON SENSE that has led us down these utterly pointless threads.

    People shooting freshspawns

Makarovs can be deadly with a skilled player. I've taken out some people with Maks who were better armed, and it's always a thrill. Some shots to the head will do wonders. Also, fresh spawns with maks could just go shoot other fresh spawns in the leg and then runaway. But then that other fresh spawn has a mak to and must learn to defend themself. People need to get it through their thick and empty skull that just because your a fresh spawn does not make you immune to being shot from anyone by anything. Learn to play appropriately.
  7. Fatigue should not be more of a factor in this game then what is already in the game currently. If you were to run a short ways and then suddenly not be able to run, then you'd have the zombies on you in a heart beat, making you bleed with one swipe, and breaking your leg on the second swipe, and then eating you to death while you try to crawl away, because you couldn't run very far. Let's just shoot the zombies you're trying to run away from you say? Bam! Great! Now I have 10 more zombies coming after me. Better shoot those to! Great another 10 zombies! Better shoot those! Boom! You've been shot in the head by someone near by who heard all those shots you just took! People need to get off this high horse crap of realism in the game. Realism is all well and good, but not at the expense of the playability of the game. If you want the game to be realistic, and us not be able to run for very long, or far, with a big honkin sniper gun, or LMG, then you need to take a look at all the other UNREALISTIC things we do in the game. Because all you're doing is complaining about SNIPERs because you don't want to learn the tactics to counter them. Unrealistic things in game that allow the game to be playable with the design of the game: 1. Average Joe being able to fix all helicopters they see. And in a record amount of time. 2. Average Joe being able to stuff up to two Main Rotor's in a large backpack, and one on their main inventory. You don't think that should prevent a player from even walking? Or the many other large items that can be put into your inventory and then run around without any impact? I'm sure Main Rotor's weigh hundreds of pounds. Engine's can way a couple hundred pounds, yet we're able to tote those around with no problems. Yet you want to complain about sniper rifles? Brilliant! 3. Average Joe being able to shoot Morphine into their system to fix a broken leg. How the fuck does Morphine fix a broken leg? It's a game design to allow you to have a fix for the broken leg, so that you don't always have to die and respawn just for a broken leg. You want realistic? Lets make it so that you have to splint your leg, and then you can only move at 10% of your original speed for 1 hour before it heals. Think that will go over well with the community? Why not? It's realistic! 4. Average Joe being able to give a blood transfusion to a buddy. How is this realistic when you can go to a hospital and find a bag of blood that has been sitting on the ground for.... how long? And not even in a fridge no less to keep it cool. No idea of the blood type and if it even matches the blood type of your buddy. 5. How about the fact that this is a zombie apocolypse! The game isn't even based on a realistic scenario. 6. How about the fact that if you die, you get to respawn! That's not realistic. If you die you shouldn't be allowed to respawn, because after all, you're dead. You should only get 1 life per game purchase. Make it count! Fact is, there are so many unrealistic things in this game that allow you to play the game in a way that makes it playable, and enjoyable. Fixing a helicopter would take a specialist, a specialized shop, and hours upon hours to fix, if not days. Yet we can get them working in the field, by just driving up with a car full of parts and less then 5 minutes of your time repairing. Then you're airborn. Did your character even know how to fly??? How the fuck?? He should of crashed! If you're going to complain about snipers, sniper guns and their weight, then lets complain about you toting around that engine that's supposed to weigh 100x heavier than that sniper gun I got on my back. And for the record, I can run a long ass ways with my hunting rifle and backpack full of gear. I've done it before where I had to run over a mile non-stop to get into a shooting position on a deer before sunlight ran out. And I was still able to take to calm myself enough to make the shot count. If I can do it in real life, shouldn't I be able to do it in this video game? After all, you're preaching about realism!
  8. Feeling bad for playing a video game the way it is meant to be played? Maybe you should play a game that doesn't have any confrontations, like tetras.

    People shooting freshspawns

So let me make sure I have this correct. DayZ's over all rule is to survive. You spawned and ran straight to a medium military value ATC. Upon getting to the ATC tower, you are shot. You failed to survive. That is what I took out of it. So you're a fresh spawn. That suddenly makes you immune to being shot at? This unwritten rule of don't shoot fresh spawns is just that... unwritten. If DayZ didn't want fresh spawns to be shot and killed then a system would have been put in place that prevents it from happening. But guess what? There is no system in place. Fresh spawns are at the mercy of the DayZ world, just as everyone else is. It is not going to take into account how long you've been playing that life for. You, crybaby, should have taken better precaution upon entering a KNOWN area that can be dangerous. Just because they shot you does not mean they are "dicks". Just because you got killed does not mean it was their fault. Seems to me like you failed to survive. Seems to me you failed to take precautionary steps to avoid being shot. Maybe they were just in a fire-fight and you came along. Maybe relaying information to teammates. Maybe there was a gun in the ATC that they couldn't pick up, or were in the process of getting ready to move it. And you came along and they didn't want to take a chance of you finding said weapon and turning it on them. MAYBE PEOPLE SHOULD STOP EXPECTING TO LIVE, AND BE LEFT ALONE, JUST BECAUSE THEY ARE A FRESH SPAWN! MAYBE FRESH SPAWNS SHOULD ACT LIKE THEY HAVE NOTHING AND PLAN THEIR APPROACHES ACCORDINGLY! Of course that would be common sense. And these people who cry about being shot as a fresh spawn seem to have none. Seems to me like they were NOT sitting on the beach waiting for fresh spawns to come in and shooting them. Big difference in my valid opinion. Maybe you should go play a different game that does not have any kind of confrontation.
  10. Would I shoot a fresh spawn on a beach? Abso-freaking-lutely! Why? Because they are not part of my group. Because they pose a potential threat that I would rather not have to worry about at that point in time, or near future point in time. However, the situations will dictate if I will actually do it. I don't just go running down the beach looking for fresh spawns to shoot. But if I happen to be around that area and come across one then yes, he may bite the bullet. But if I spot him farther out and he doesn't know i'm there, and he seems to be moving away from me, then I would probably let him live. My goal is survival and PvP. I don't want to shoot until it's necessary. If i'm stalking someone I don't want to shoot someone who is not an immediate threat and give away my position. Depending on the situation though, I may go axe him a couple questions.
  11. I agree wind would be a great thing in the game. However, it can't become so burdensome, or over the top, as to make sniping completely irrelevent.
  12. Unfortunately it seems like whenever I forget to hit the record button is when I have my best fights. All my recorded fights are nothing to write home about. I did just have my best sniper shot ever in this game last night though... but it wasn't recorded. So on a Panthera map I frequent I was in the North mountain range just South of the North airfield. I was moving to an industrial site to look for some parts for a heli I had found. As i'm running I hear a truck driving below me. I get in a tree, and kneel down. Suddenly the truck starts coming up the mountain about 300m out. I put the CZ500 scope on him, and with a quick estimate of 300m started to lead and elevate on this moving truck. He was moving up hill, quartering away from me going from my right to left. I aim, I lead, kept it smooth, and took the shot at the driver (was the only person). Saw blood come out about the height of where his head would be. He tumbled from the vehicle and promptly died. I was shocked I had made that shot. I'm a good shot, but that shot was a lets just see if I can do it. Surprised the heck out of me. I don't know if he was hurt already, or if I actually did pop him in the head. But my feeling is head shot based on how high I saw the blood appear. Kicked myself for not hitting record.
  13. Useless tactics? It amazes me how many people cry about snipers, yet they don't take simple steps/approaches to avoid being sniped. 1. Shot difficulty goes up for snipers on moving targets. The difficulty goes up dramatically on moving targets the farther out that target is. Moving at 90 degree angles to the sniper is always best. And be random in your movements. 2. Players moving in and around buildings without stopping make it extremely difficult for the sniper to line up a shot. The same thing can be said with tree's and brush. And be random in your movements. 3. When stopping to pick up loot, situating oneself that limits your visibility to anyone is simple and helps increase ones survival against any nearby snipers. 4. Always assume a sniper is nearby. Just because you don't hear any shots doesn't mean no one is around. Good snipers will wait, and wait, and wait, until just that right moment that you give a shot presentation. And it could be a very small window. But limiting that window is key to your success against snipers. I've only been sniped a handful of times. And of those times I've been shot, only 1 was stupidity on my part. I had setup on a lighthouse thinking no one would expect me there. After my only shot, taking a guy out, I was promptly dispatched. What I thought might be a decent setup due to not being expected, turned into a hey, here I am shoot me setup. All the others were snipers that took the only shot they had. And due to either great skill on their part, or extreme luck on their part, took me out with an extremely difficult shot. I tip my hat to them on those shots. Move move move when in town. Don't doddle. If you stop, stop in areas where your visibility is reduced, LOS is reduced to likely sniper spots. And never get tunnel vision when looting.

    Is using teamspeak 'cheating'?

Maybe you missed the part where I stated that TS does not add, remove, or alter anything in the game mechanics (code). Adding an aimbot is adding to the GAMES CODE an ability to pick up where players are and SHOW them on your screen through the USE of the games code. Tell me where TS, as an outside program, adds anything to the mechanics of the game Of course TS impacts the game. But it impacts it through the use of COMMUNICATION with teammates. Are you saying that we should not play with teammates? If you say yes, then HOW THE FUCK are you supposed to communicate with them to find out where they are, what server they are on, etc. Telephone? Snail mail? Thank you for stating TS is not cheating. YOU think it detracts from YOUR game play. I think it ENHANCES my game play. This is opinion, and thus is not fact. Thus it is not cheating to use TS. You may prefer to simply shoot zombies and loot. I prefer to loot and hunt players. No way is wrong because fun is determined by the player. I have fun playing with friends online. Therefore my fun involves the use of TS. I sneak up on players all the time. Whether or not they are talking makes no difference in what I am going to do. All that matters to me is that the person I snuck up on is NOT someone of my guild. Sneaking up on players just to listen to their conversation seems like a boring thing to do. I'd rather sneak in and then take them out. Maybe with an axe. But that's me, and what I determine to be fun. I don't travel with people who are not in my guild or on my teamspeak. If you're not someone I can trust (starts by being on our TS) then you get a bullet to the head. So this scenario does not happen to me. Now how are we supposed to coordinate then? Handle signals? This isn't real life dude. You ever tried to make an organized raid on a group of players that are unaware you and your team are around? If you didn't have any communication you'd blast your friend in the back because there is no way to distinguish friend/foe other than communication and disciplined situational awareness. Take a simple spotter for an assaulter. Assaulter goes into town while spotter stays on hill and provides sniper support. If the assaulter doesn't let the sniper know his position through the use of communications (TS) then there is a decent that sniper is going to plug his friend because he was unable to discern his friend from foe. This is your opinion, not fact. I disagree with it. I have plenty of fun while playing with my friends on TS. That is your choice. But have fun trying to find your friends while only using the PROPER in game chat. If TS is no good for you, then side chat should be no good for you. Now riddle me this... If TS were cheating, why have the devs never said it is? If TS were cheating, how would you enforce people to not use it? If TS were cheating, how would you be able to play with your friends in game? To me this one screams for you to play the game as a solo player, hoping to find a friend in that gaming instance, and never keeping any friends for longer than that gaming instance.

    I have a question

Skin does not make one a hero or bandit.
  19. Tek (DayZ)

    Is using teamspeak 'cheating'?

I have morals. I don't cheat. I don't hack. I don't exploit. I don't glitch. I play by the mechanics of the game. The game does not allow me to jump, there for I don't jump. The game does allow me to shoot, and therefore I shoot. Whether it is zombies or players makes no difference to me, though i'd rather shoot at players as they're more challenging to shoot. Using Teamspeak, or any other voice program, is not cheating the game as it is not part of the game. It is an outside program that does not impact the mechanics of the game. Hacking and exploiting directly impact the game whether they are an outside program or not, ie running scripts, spawning items, teleporting, etc. Talking on an outside program does not affect the mechanics of the game, therefore no cheating. You people (yes i'm generalizing the fuck out of that) that claim those who use TS are cheating should learn to understand what cheating actually is. Communicating with teammates is not cheating, it's smart play. Now if I were to use some outside program that allowed me to fly around like superman with a looted AS50... then yes, I would be cheating. Go cry to your mommy about cheating, because everyone else thinks you're a tool.
  20. Tek (DayZ)

    That moment when..

If you're worried about losing your skin to kill some people who don't have bandit skin who is shooting everyone, then you are no hero. The skin does not make one a hero or bandit. Personally i've seen hero's who are complete dicks and bandits who are friendly. Now who really is the hero?
  21. Tek (DayZ)

How do you fight players in CQC?

Separate debate, but using TS is not cheating.
  22. Tek (DayZ)

How do you fight players in CQC?

I'll give you that my first instinct is to take cover. But when you get enough experience in PvP fights you learn to over come that fear and react based on what you know about the situation. Granted there are times when you get ambushed and all you can do is run like a little girl and hope you don't get shot, using cover along the way. Just because i'm shot at doesn't mean i'm going to go diving behind the first rock I see. Depends where the shot came from, how close it was sound wise, did it actually hit near me, or was it just a random shot. I react tactically, not fearfully. I know other people play that way as well. And those are the ones where you have a challenging and fun fight on your hands.
  23. Tek (DayZ)

How do you fight players in CQC?

My first thought is, why would you shoot at a person 600m out if you do not have a gun that is effective at that range? Did he spot you? Was he in a position to shoot? Were you in the open? Or did you have tree's you could run through? Or buildings to run through/around? What kind of long range gun did he have? Was it a sniper rifle? Or was it an M14 or an FN Fal? If you have a gun that is not capable of downing someone at 600m, your best bet is to not shoot. Shooting with that gun is tactically unsound for a number of reasons. 1. If he didn't see you, you just gave away your position and your surprise. You now have compromised your ability to get close to him. 2. Even if he did see you doesn't mean he had a shot. Unless you stay still and let him shoot at you. 3. Even if he did shoot at you doesn't mean he is going to hit you. 600m is a long shot. If you're moving that 600m shot becomes even more difficult due to lead time for bullet speed, and the angle you're running from. Not to mention his ability to get a smooth lead if you're running through tree's or around/through buildings. 4. Maybe that person has buddies near by, where as you opening fire with no ability to down, has now alerted him, which he then relays to his buddies. Who then come over from different angles and catches you trying to get close. 5. Even if you did fire at that player, to try and keep his head down, doesn't mean that player is going to just stay hidden so he can't see. Smart players make reasoned decisions to allow themselves to get information. If he knew you were 600m out and saw you shoot at him with an M4, I wouldn't even worry about taking cover. I'm going to set up so that I can take you out at best, or at worst deter you from coming close. A player moving at you is a lot easier to hit than an player running at 90 degree's to your position. Low angle, less lead, only have to think about bullet drop. 6. That player 600m out has plenty of time to change position in relative safety. He could bugger out, or he could reposition and ambush you from a position that you never saw him move to. Just because you see someone, whether they are close to you, or at range from you, does not mean you just start shooting. Smart, tactical thinking players are going to take all the conditions into account to make their decision on when, and even if, they should shoot.
  24. If there are no anti-material sniper guns then why even have vehicles? There comes a point when realism has to take a back seat to dynamics that allow the game to be played in a balanced setting. Anti-material sniper guns are good weapons to help counter act vehicles, especially choppers when you catch them hovering or on the ground. These AMS guns are not everywhere, despite what everyone would have you believe. You can't just go to any barracks or crash site and find one.
