    Well,that sucks.

I really don't want to offend the OP, but it's an Alpha. You should be expecting to run into bugs, even losing your char. If that is too much frustration for you I recommend to wait for the final release, or maybe a later, more polished beta. I have lost several chars due to bugs, lost my inventory AND my main weapons and I don't care. Much. Just start new and start surviving again. It's not that hard.
  3. Turn the monster hatchet into an "axe", then give us back the old hatchet for cutting wood.

Here's what's wrong with your mod

Confirmed that OP is a douche bag. Also fear his mommy will be mad at him when she realizes he's been on her internets again.

    Zombies after patch 7.1.1.4

I started yesterday with a new character, I usually try to sneak my way around. My last char had ~250 kills in 18 days playing time. I ended tonight's playing session with 155 Zombie kills. 0_0 Zombies seem to notice you now over VAST distances and god save you if you're forced to fire a weapon. You'll pull every single Zombie this side of the milky way.
  7. Jeezus... If I'd post a "WTF!!!!!"-Thread every time I die or lose equipment due to bugs/glitches/etc. I'd spent more time whining on the forum than actually playing the game. It's an alpha. If you're unable to deal with the problems involved in being a tester than stop playing and come back once the mod is out of alpha/beta stage.
  8. Been playing for ~6 weeks now. Never found NVGs in numerous raids on the NW airfield and the two guys in our group that had some got them off other players. Found quite a few GPS in various locations though.

Be aware, I'm going to start banning.

A couple of buddies and me just have started hosting "our own" server and we plan on banning everyone disconnecting in PvP. Not because we're supercool playerkillers who love p0wning other people in serious internet zombie game, but because the DCers ruin the very heart of the DayZ experience. It's quite easy. Guy is spotted, fired upon, immediately disappears with the message "l33tsnip0r96 disconnected"-> ban. Sorry if your cat just pawed on Alt-F4 or if your dog pulled out the power cord or if your mom switched off the router.

    1.7.1.1 is to hard?

At least until the loot tables are fixed the game is too hard for those starting with new chars IMO. Food and beverages are extremely hard to find, you have no weapon, no water canteen, and it's fairly easy to aggro Zs with no apparent reason.
  11. I've just spent 2 hrs looking for either a water bottle, a coke or something to eat. Nothing. Weapos, ammo and other items seems to spawn normally, but all the food has gone.
  12. I have a couple of ideas I'd like to get your feedback for: 1.) Bring back/keep bandit skins (I know...just read on) 2.) Everyone starts with 2.500 humanity (same as now), at <0 you'll become a bandit/outlaw 3.) A player kill would cost you 500 humanity (much lowered "cost") 4.) humanity recovers at a rate of 50/hour (must be logged in) up to the maximum of 2.500. 5.) add the option to "befriend" a player (from close distance), the process should take 30 seconds during which your character should perform some kind of clearly visible, unique animation 6.) a "befriended" player will see your character displaying a name tag up to 20m distance to help with coop play. 7.) once you have befriended a player shooting/killing him will get you a massive hit to humanity, I'd suggest 2.500 for a kill. 8.) "friend" status stays until player logs out or "leave friend" command is given, again with a 30 second delay/animation What would these change do? One of the main complaints these days is that the removal of bandit skins will hurt cooperative play since it apparently will be FAR too easy to get killed by someone grouping with you, basically without consequences for the killer. These changes would make cooperative play safer while actually lowering the "humanity cost" of "standard PvP".
  13. Yesterday evening I logged out my 18-day character near the NE airfield with a group of buddies. Full health, no Zs or players around. I just installed the 1.7.1 patch and logged back into the game and my char started on the beach, all equipment/stats lost. Buggy main server or intended feature? I don't care too much about the equipment but "losing" a 2+week old char this way is...sad. :(
  14. Ok, thanks. Baaa... was getting boring anyway. Fresh start, here I come! ^^
  15. But shouldn't I get the "death" screen when killed during spawn? I chose a server, loaded the mission and was ingame basically instantly.

    How to put nametags on?

Just saying but... IMO nametags as they are currently are the most horrible setting to run a server with. You can scan for other players through fog, forests and even buildings at ridiculous ranges and no matter the lighting conditions. Totally defeats everything DayZ stands for.

    Global Ban a Big Success

Lovely. Stupid hackers' tears are most delicious tears. .
  18. A couple of buddies and me think about hosting a server. We greatly enjoy DayZ (and have been doing so for weeks) and get a bit tired of the daily hunt for a server with the "right" settings and ping. Of course, paying for a server doesn't make much sense when I can't actually play on it, and kicking players for admins is, according to the FAQ, a no go. So, would it be OK to "reserve" say 5-6 slots on a 40-slot server for the guys paying the bills? Is that possible with the ArmA MP architecture? Thanks in advance.

    Reserving slots

Thanks for the quick reply, Targett.
  20. OP is a moron. I've died several times due to bugs/glitches. I've lost my complete rucksack inventory. Yesterday the server I was on crashed and when I logged back in my silenced M4 had disappeared. Does that make me mad? Sure. For about 10 seconds. Then I shrug and think "Alpha". And for his "rape" comment the OP should be insta-banned because he obviously has lost touch with reality and needs to get out more.

    Griefers

The game was never intended to be fair. Get away from the coast ASAP and survive. Trust noone. When in doubt, shoot first. Good luck.

    What's the point in trying?

I'm on day 15 with my current char. I'm playing (almost) daily for several hours. I'm not hiding in the wilderness, I go raiding the NW airfield, Stary and Berezino all the time. Sometimes alone, sometimes with a group of buddies. It's not THAT difficult to survive. Yes, sometimes it's just bad luck, nothing you can do about it. But 90%+ of the people I've killed made it FAR to easy for me by being careless and/or simply stupid. Most importantly, few non-ArmA veterans seem to understand how important it is to observe your surroundings. And no, watching that entrance for 5 seconds it NOT "observing".
