Morality problems, OP?

I hope not. My reasoning is based on how DayZ mod ended up. By giving extra tools, the ambition of the game withers away. Granting DayZ mod servers the ability to customise and in effect, modify their servers i.e . granting everyone an M4A1 and top loot, the mod was ruined. I hate how it deviated away from the very original. Maybe I'm saging, but the draw of DayZ is how raw it is. If you find good loot, you can often become risk averse and play more conservatively and this makes for interesting dynamics. By giving people the ability to customise and modify, you slowly but surely eradicate this dynamic. I rather the developers just concentrate on building the game before anyone is entitled any form of ability to modify or customise, so we can have a stable platform to play. I fear modifications at any stage during alpha and even beta would destabilise DayZ and alas, make it more difficult to identify and fix.

You're lucky you get error codes, I don't. £20 this cost me, over a year into development and there's continuous strands of error. I'm starting to think the development team are taking us for a ride and having a laugh along the way.

I've really got to rant about this update. To give some background, I've not played in a few months due to my laptop. Ordered a new one, bought a new copy. Installed. Whilst downloading, I read the .49 update list. -New melee hit detection - This is what's pissing me off the most, but there are others. Melee; this has to be a step back. I stood hitting a zombie 4-6 times in the head before it died, that's not including the amount of 'misses' I made. The melee system is ineffective, in fact you're more likely to die because of the melee system than any other cause of death because it's just......crap. What was the previous version, why did it feel better than the current? What's the reasoning for this? swinging things at less than a foot away will hit most objects, so why not in DayZ? Coming off the hit detection, is it me or do you bleed after one hit? Within 5 minutes of spawning, I have a black and white screen. I may be rubbish, I may not be. Irrespective, you are at a severe disadvantage; it's very difficult to get going. Supplies are limited, for obvious reasons and as a result you need equilibrium. I'm not asking for 10 hits before bleeding, but something needs to give. Do all survivors have hypothyroidism? Because I ate 3 cans of beans within 20 minutes and my character was starving. Within an hour and countless houses and areas searched, I later died of starvation. I want loot to be difficult to find, but this is silly. I appreciate most of this has probably been covered, and mods and devs are probably sick to death from hearing about it. But, DayZ sounds like it has taken a huge step back.

Hi forum, I'm currently a poor student who happens to have just got a job and now can afford to buy a laptop. Seeing as in my first year, I had no time to play games so gave my PC to my younger brother so he can play DayZ himself (it is fairly outdated now, he's upgrading it himself) however, due to my university work, I require a laptop. I cannot work on my essays from home, I must be in the library. However, the PCs there suck and crash a lot so I'd like something I can use MS word regularly. So, here's my tick list: -Budget: £600-750 (May able to go up to 850) -At minimum play DayZ on medium graphics -sturdy, I'm currently using a £400 samsung, and I can flex it...scary stuff... -preferably lightweight -inb4 get a PC it's cheaper: I need portability. Any advice or links to semi-decent laptops would be greatly admired. I'd give you beans or trousers as that's what the latest kids are into. I prefer beans. If you help me. Kind regards, Ross.

Because the mod has been engineered away from survival to full on PvP with the odd zombie. I personally blame those <17 I honestly hope the SA version will remove that.

Got back earlier from a grueling 12 hour shift at work, but felt I needed some chill time. I logged on to steam to start ArmA 2:OA Beta, but it said "missing executable". So I uninstalled, then reinstalled. But to no avail, done this 3 times. It is now saying there was an error updating it "disk read error". I've ran out of ideas on how to fix this. I hate steam.

I should add I'm based in the UK, so the bid can't be done. Thank you though, ill be patient and buy a new mobo and CPU.

Thanks for your advice, however the i5 3560 is an 1155 socket, and my i5 650 is an 1156 socket :( can't afford a mobo upgrade just yet. So may hold out until I can get some extra work to earn some pennies. Appreciate this, fellas :D

Essentially this. I also think the engine doesn't help, and the lack of understanding what 'beta' and 'sandbox' means.
