Morality problems, OP? -
I hope not. My reasoning is based on how DayZ mod ended up. By giving extra tools, the ambition of the game withers away. Granting DayZ mod servers the ability to customise and in effect, modify their servers i.e . granting everyone an M4A1 and top loot, the mod was ruined. I hate how it deviated away from the very original. Maybe I'm saging, but the draw of DayZ is how raw it is. If you find good loot, you can often become risk averse and play more conservatively and this makes for interesting dynamics. By giving people the ability to customise and modify, you slowly but surely eradicate this dynamic. I rather the developers just concentrate on building the game before anyone is entitled any form of ability to modify or customise, so we can have a stable platform to play. I fear modifications at any stage during alpha and even beta would destabilise DayZ and alas, make it more difficult to identify and fix.

You're lucky you get error codes, I don't. £20 this cost me, over a year into development and there's continuous strands of error. I'm starting to think the development team are taking us for a ride and having a laugh along the way.

Because the mod has been engineered away from survival to full on PvP with the odd zombie. I personally blame those <17 I honestly hope the SA version will remove that.

An error occurred while updating Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead (Disc read error)
BannedOpinion replied to Holograph's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Exactly the same shit as I'm going through, except I never put the virus in the vault :( -
Got back earlier from a grueling 12 hour shift at work, but felt I needed some chill time. I logged on to steam to start ArmA 2:OA Beta, but it said "missing executable". So I uninstalled, then reinstalled. But to no avail, done this 3 times. It is now saying there was an error updating it "disk read error". I've ran out of ideas on how to fix this. I hate steam.

My theory on why everyone complains so much about DayZ
BannedOpinion replied to kingflip's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Essentially this. I also think the engine doesn't help, and the lack of understanding what 'beta' and 'sandbox' means. -
Devblog Friday anyone?

I wouldn't mind seeing rocket without his trousers. No homo. -
I'm sure there has been this kind of thread before, but sod it. Let's make a thread of our own personal reasons as to why we love this mod. Rules: 1) NO MOANING, whether that be about glitches, engine problems, hackers, bandits or whatever. Make your own thread about moaning. 2) No essays, let's keep this minimal. A paragraph isn't bad, but essays become TL;DR. 3) Give me your beans, just do it. No questions asked. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My reason(s) 1) This mod has tapped into everyone's Zombie Apocalyptic dream; a free-for-all, no rules with unlimited amount of scenarios. Name me one game that has done this before? 2) The mod is free (this is not including the standalone, which is considerably cheap anyway). All you had to do was purchase ArmA: OA then download the free. (I personally love the ArmA series, so have ArmA:CO) I didn't really play ArmA before DayZ, but having spent £25 on the combined operations, I gave the game a shot. And I love it, so you're getting 3 games in one package with continuous support from BIS and the community. Top stuff! 3) DayZ is BRUTAL, I have never found a game in which I have been apprehensive about meeting other players. I personally feel an attachment to my loot, I worked for that stuff. The idea of knowing I could be killed any moment for my stuff is both exciting and nerve-racking. You really have to make decisions. 4) The standalone version is looking good, and I for one am glad Rocket et al have decided to delay release to ensure the end product is as polished as possible. The video they just released was awesome, I cannot wait for it. All this has paid off, and the franchise can only get bigger. 5) Expect the unexpected, I often come across scenarios I'd be surprised. I made a thread a few weeks ago about me needlessly killing a survivor then facing the consequences of having a group of survivors teaming up to kill me. They did not rage, or complain. Instead, they formulated a plot to find me then kill me. What's your reasons, DayZers

ITT: STEAM PROBLEM! (Installation of ArmA 2: CO

Thank you, upon deepening my google searches, found multiple solutions and running through them now. Feel a little silly coming here after 5 minutes of google... -
Anyways I can improve game play with these specs?
BannedOpinion replied to slim jim445's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
I know ArmA 2 has always been an CPU intensive simulator, so that would be the thing I'd pay attention to. I get good frame rates out of my i5 650 but I am looking to upgrade that myself. -
ITT: STEAM PROBLEM! (Installation of ArmA 2: CO
BannedOpinion posted a topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Hey fellow players, My younger brother finally saved up enough cash to buy his own low-budget gaming rig, powerful enough to play DayZ, so I've bought him via steam ArmA 2: CO so we can chill together on the game when I ship off to university. But the issue is steam (FAO of everyone: I fu@king hate steam, always have) It keeps saying after verification of cache integrity '1 file was not verified....must be reacquired'. Now, I've tried uninstalling, re-installing...run as admin etc. I just don't know what to do now, but it's bugging me. And now my opinion of Steam is now a fierce hatred.
