    RP servers?

Every server is an RP server, really. That's just how the game is designed. Actions are driven by the players' decisions. Now, I guess you could say that an RP server takes things a step further and forbids any 4th-Wall-breaking, where someone mentions "this server", and you act like you have no idea what he's talking about, and is very strict about when people are allowed to log out and such. That said, who's going to pay a team of moderators to keep an eye on that shit 24/7? If you want to start your own server, then sign me up for a shift. Just make sure the pay rate is decent.

A realistic way to balance PvP

I guess that's why people often take to the streets looting the instant any form of chaos breaks out? And that's just over temporary, short-term events. Imagine how much worse it gets for something as long-term as a zombie outbreak. When it comes down to a life-or-death situation, many people would sooner shoot a stranger than to risk getting shot by said stranger; especially if you've survived long enough as the people in Day Z have to know that that kind of thing is happening all the time. So wait... one sentence you're saying that there's no need for other people for anything, then in the very next sentence you're saying that a vehicle is difficult to repair solo, and kinda useless for lone wolfs anyway. Huh.... seems you just answered your own question. This game has plenty of incentive to group-up with other people, just that it's easier to whine about the PvP than it is to head to the Survivor's HQ and try to team-up with someone. There's already plenty of incentive to work together, you just prefer to ignore it.

Pistol spawn for '0 Murder' players

PvP combat is a big part of what Day Z is about. Why punish people who engage in it?
  4. WhiteTigerShiro

    So, Day:Z was a fail....

At no point in the design for the mod were players not supposed to fight each other. The why of PvP isn't important, that's up to the player; that's what the mod is about. You choose how to play it.

    Mechanic to lessen PKing

There will never be any mechanics to influence or discourage PvP in the game.

My Review Of The Dayz Mod

Typically you want until a game is finalized to review it. Just saying.
  7. Been looking for a group to play with, if you're still recruiting.

    Nani?

Me, My bike and the tents you own.

I'd say you're a douchebag, except that you're stomping exploiters gear (which is going to be purged with the next patch anyway), so carry on.

    Writing Recognisation

On the one hand, it'd be handy to have some voice commands not unlike in Team Fortress 2 or many other multiplayer FPS titles; push a button, and you have a list of inputs. Like Z-1 would be "Hello", Z->2 would be "I'm friendly", and so-on. On the other hand... it would probably be a bad idea for the intended atmosphere of the game.

    A fix for off-the-map hoarding

That's okay. There's about a hundred people on here I'd do that to for making the exact same god-damn topic every day. Sometimes multiple times a day. Ask anyone who enjoys posting/chatting on forums: Reposts (especially frequent ones) are a major pet peeve you'll find in common among them.

    Soda can textures and camoflauge

You know, as long as the pop is gonna be changed, maybe change this into a suggestion for some generic Grape Soda? I fucking love grape soda. Srsly.

    A fix for off-the-map hoarding

So you're gone for a couple days, and without even reading around you start posting suggestions?

    Soda can textures and camoflauge

The easy answer: Because the camo and ghillie were only meant as PvP bonuses. The technical answer: It's probably too hard (or impossible) to program the zombie AI to see you better or worse based on your clothing. So even if it's possible' date=' probably not worth the effort when there are actual issues to fix. [/quote'] Would be easier than you think. The system would simply calculate if you have a camo on, if you do then it would adjust your ear and eye symbol accordingly. Okay, let me be more specific, it's proably too hard (or impossible) to program the zombie AI to see you based on your clothing in contrast with where you're laying prone. You might be in an area where you feel you should be invisible, but oops! The game doesn't realize this because you're considered to be a different type of terrain than you're actually on, so the zombie sees you anyway. Besides, as I already mentioned, zombies can already get pretty damn close to you while you're motionless and prone. Even while moving during prone you have a pretty generous amount of room to play with.

A realistic way to balance PvP

I'll just pull a quote from another post I commented on (since these "nerf PvP" posts are a dime-a-dozen, I don't see any reason to re-type the same reply to all of them): "This game isn't about having a force-fed karma system. If you want to be a "good survivor", then it's purely for your own sake. The game does not, nor is it meant to, give a fuck about how "good or evil" you're being. So yeah, of course this means it's going to be easier to be a bandit. That's just life. If you want a karma system that makes sure that both the good and bad options are equally rewarding, go play Mass Effect; go play an Elderscrolls game; go play Fallout*. Go play one of dozens of games out there with artificially-infused karma systems. Day Z is not about forced morality for the sake of arbitrary rewards attached to a given play-style. This game is about survival. If your lives are part of what's keeping the average life span down to only 30 minutes, then you aren't a good survivor." In short, your idea isn't realistic as you want it to be.

Make KOS/banditing high risk to go with the high rewards

Yeah, well, I think that being a whiney crybaby should uninstall the game from your PC and auto-block all Day Z related links. Looks like neither of us is getting our wish.

Hatchets as a secondary weapon (pistol slot)

The hatchet is mostly just there to hold you over until you can find an actual gun. It isn't meant to be a long-term solution. That said, it's an infinite-use, silent zombie killer. Yes it requires you to be in melee range, but that just means there's pros and cons to it. Do I want longer range and much stronger PvP viability of a primary gun, or do I want a fantastic zed-killer? If it was a secondary slot item, it'd be too much of a no brainer. No one really uses pistols for PvP anyway, they use them for zed killing. So why have a loud gun when you could just use the axe long-term? Keep in mind that there used to be no melee system in this game, so we're lucky to even have the hatchet. It's fine where it is as a primary weapon, lest every pistol in the game be better off removed because no one would use them anymore. That said, Rocket has commented about wanting to build his own inventory for Day Z; but it's probably something that will have to wait until it's a stand-alone game, or at least until the Arma 3 port. So maybe he fully intends that we'll have a melee-specific slot, a pistol slot, and a primary slot. Until then, though, the axe should be a primary.

    Blood syringes

Strolling the woods and NOT hunting? There's already a solo method of getting blood back, we don't need to make hospitals more attractive than they already are.

    Broken bones and humanity

No. There should always be methods of doing anything solo. Teamplay makes things easier, but it should never be the only viable solution to things. This is why blood transfusions work as something that can only be done by another player; because it's easier than having to run out and find enough animals to kill to get your blood full. If you have a teammate, getting blood back is as easy as 10 seconds of idle time. If you run solo though, you'll have to make it a point to go out hunting asap so that you can survive if your blood gets really low (having to hunt on less than 3k blood is a MASSIVE pain, I've been there); and even then it takes up to 15 pieces of meat (depending on how damaged you get) to fully heal. That's way too much to keep on you at all times, so at best, when going solo, you have maybe a few pieces of meat to keep you out of the worst of it, but then you'll have to go out and find the rest of the meat the slow way. If Morphine becomes other-player-only, then there needs to be a secondary method of fixing broken legs.
  22. Oh, so we're gonna play the "Let's Quote Rocket" game? Because I can play that game, too. In fact, I can probably pull-up more quotes in support of telling people to quite bitching about the PvP in the game. Also, note that I didn't say that I agree with his wording, just that he's right about people needing to stop being babies. Could he have worded it in a less vulgar way? Perhaps, but that doesn't change the fact that he isn't wrong.

For the love of DayZ, fix zombie pathing

Please learn to use the forum search. It's very well-known that the zombie AI as a whole needs a lot of work. At no point was this NOT known, because it's been temperamental since day one. Keep in mind that this is a mod, which means they had to work from resources from the original game, which means that in order to get zombies in the game in the first place, they had to convert the pigs from the original game into zombies, and since the pig AI was nothing more than "stand there and move around sometimes maybe", they've had to do a LOT of work on the AI just to get it running as well as it does. Don't forget that this game is still in alpha. The devs know it isn't finished yet. So try to keep the suggestions to things that they can add, and worry about what they need to fix for when the game is at least in beta.
  24. dick Well' date=' he's right. People need to stop flocking to the forums like a bunch of pathetic children. Rocket isn't your daddy, and he isn't going to talk to the parent's of the kid who beat you up (aka: patching-in morality systems or other anti-bandit systmes). This game is not, and never will, hold the player's hand. If you want to solve the problem of bandits, work with other players and [i']solve the problem of bandits. This game is purely about PvP interaction; and that means players working together to kill known bandits just as much as it is about players sitting on the sidelines of popular destinations to snipe anyone they see. What this game is NOT about is implementing bullshit artificial rewards and punishments to encourage one play-style over another.
