    I think it'd be cool, especially if they had the backpack as well (which you could steal if you killed the zombie). Maybe a 90% chance of the default backpack, with a slight chance to see them spawn with a different pack (yes, including the 6-slot one =P ).

    Ghillie suits as a reward for survival

    Well then the suggestion should be for the option to create a ghillie suit, not for one to just appear in our inventory. Am I supposed to believe that my character's been playing himself when I shut the game down to make it? So yeah, the option to make a ghillie suit, sure. It should be difficult enough as to not trump it's value as a rare spawn, though. Having one just appear after an arbitrary amount of time? No. And Gandolf is the wizard in the Lord of the Rings saga.

    Suggestion: gun shots spawn a zombie

    I'm against this idea, purely because being aware of your surroundings is a big part of the game. If I know for a fact that there aren't any zombies near me, and I fire-off my gun (be it at a player or an animal), I don't want some zombie to be summoned from the nether. Hell, it's annoying enough when you're in town and firing your gun is a death sentence for your ammo supply, I don't need that out in the wilderness, too.

    Ghillie suits as a reward for survival

    So after surviving for this set period of time, does the ghillie suit just decent from the heavens above? Or maybe your character just dashes into the nearest phone booth and emerges as Ghillieman? Or heck, long as it's been established that we're just tossing realism out the window with this idea, maybe we can have Gandolf come and give it to us, but only if we first defeat Megatron to save Ponyville from his reign of terror. Hell, we might as well throw Skeletor and Goku in there somewhere.

    Yeah, a survival timer would be interesting. Though I think the debug menu is mostly there for testing purposes (The game is just in alpha, after-all), so I don't see why we'd need it there.

    Just because he brings up a point doesn't mean he's trolling. Yes, smaller wounds would clot on their own, but depending on what causes you to bleed, you'd need to do more than just wait it out. Perhaps have it so that a small enough bleed will slow down and plug itself, but if you take damage that causes a bigger bleed, then you need to fix it. As for other methods, maybe there can be a way to cauterize the wound. It would cause damage when you do it, so it wouldn't be ideal, but when you're out of bandages it'd be better than just dying to blood loss.
  10. Not against the idea of a character getting better at things as they perform a task many times, especially since it could apply to pretty much everything a character could do. Though I think it should have a few rules: 1) Every new character is a clean slate. No matter how good you were at something, when you get killed, he's dead. His knowledge (or even a part of it) doesn't magically transfer to a new person. Every time you respawn you're playing as someone else, base level skills across the board. At best, maybe you can pick a skill that your character is slightly better at, as to say that it's what he used to do before the outbreak. 2) It should be a hidden value. This isn't an RPG, after-all. You should just know what your character is good and bad at. Kinda like how I can't just check some character sheet to know how good I am at building computers, your characters in Day Z shouldn't have a list to reference to know who's the best at repairing guns in the camp. It'll just be a few guys saying "Yeah, I've gotten pretty good at it", and then you'll have to take their word on it. 3) The more skilled you become in one thing, the harder it becomes to get skilled in other things. Without some kind of diminishing returns on skill progression, a single person could too easily become a master at everything, which should be avoided. A character should be inclined to stay more focused on one thing that he can offer to a group.

    Queue the PvP whiners saying that you got what you deserved, followed by page after page of debating about the PvP in the game. Edit: But yes, this happened to one of my friends yesterday. Thankfully it was on a fresh spawn, so he didn't really lose anything except the time it would take to re-load the game.

    They didn't shoot you in the back for no reason. They shot you in the back so they could loot your baked beans. As for it being unfair... such is how things go. Stay hidden, and people won't find you as easily.

    There's already plans to implement a passive regen when your food and water are in the green, it's just not in yet. And filling a water bottle with rain isn't really feasible.

    So you're saying that if I have a run of bad luck and lose all my ammo, food and medical supplies, all I have to do is Alt-F4 and get it all back? What a great system. Oh, and Bandits wouldn't exploit this AT ALL to get their full stash of ammo back after a day of PKing. The save system is fine as-is. Not against your idea of the player needing to "go to sleep" or some other system like in MMOs where logging out is on a timer unless you're in a town (and simply hitting Alt-F4 causes your character to just stand there like you got d/c for a while before actually vanishing); but don't tamper with how the game saves.Edit: On the note of people who quick-log to avoid death: http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=8029 Quoth the Rocket: Gee, you mean that the current system makes the game more like how things would actually be if something like this happened?     It's worth noting that you DID start with a decent amount of starting supplies (food, a filled canteen, and a few medical supplies) in previous builds, and it was nerfed specifically because people would farm the beaches for freshly spawned players; plus some players would spawn and just start PKing other fresh spawns. Another thing to consider is that if everyone is spawning with the same things, then it removes any value from finding that item by scavenging. I already hate finding hatchets when I've already found my first one, but imagine if you just started with one. Nuts to that. It'd get to the point where what are we even going to scavenge for? I think it's fine as-is. You spawn with nothing but a bandage and the balls to dare and find stuff to survive on.

    You already ARE a lot more susceptible to bleeding when using a melee weapon, why make the melee weapons worse than they already are? That and people don't like "magical" effects in this game since one of the goals of the game is to be as realistic as possible.
