    Custom Map

I'm all for a different map being put together, maybe when the game makes the switch to Arma 3, but I don't know if I care for the idea of allowing custom maps. People would just create farm-fests for them to get a bunch of loot on, then join legit maps to run around with their stockpiles. Different maps? Sure, maybe; but nothing that isn't specifically made by the developers.

    Fixing the zombie AI

Congratulations on suggesting something that Rocket is already working on fixing. This topic being resolved, I propose that we spend the rest of this topic talking about pancakes. I fucking love pancakes.

    Bounty's on bandits

Given that this is someone else's idea and not yours, how can you tell how he intended it it to work? That said, by all means set-up this bounty topic on the survivor's forum. No one is stopping a forum-based bounty system from working; though admittedly proof of the kill would be hard to work out, but I guess that's for you to figure out if you decide to do this. Until then, an in-game bounty system is completely absurd.

    Colorblind setting.

I'm all for a colorblind mode, but given the wide range of green-to-brown-to-red that the gauge gets, it shouldn't be something that trumps the regular meters. If hunger was shown as a number, everyone would just switch to colorblind mode for easier hunger meters; at that point it might as well be the default setting. Kinda like how you can tell that blood pressure will eventually be hidden (given that it's only listed in the debug menu); so many people don't even look at their blood gauge on the actual hud unless they want to check for bleeding that it's going to be a shock for people when it's gone and you can't rely on it to know your exact status. So again, all for colorblind mode. Just don't want to see it be something that's SO over-the-top useful that it might as well be a default part of the UI (unless Rocket decides that he'd rather it be how the hud works).

    Bounty's on bandits

And this bounty is just kinda magically known by everyone? Do we all share a psychic link, or something?

Died of dehydration... in the rain.

Did I stumble into the Suggestions Forum by accident? Why is this the second "the game should work differently" post I've read in a row here?
  7. Welcome to the zombie apocalypse post "the armies are all dead and only you and a few others are alive" world. If your argument is its suppose to be realistic' date=' let me count the ways game mechanics halt said realism.[/quote']No, his argument is that the game is SUPPOSED to be hard. A game centered around an infection that has destroyed all civilization, including the military, should be be easy. But I do love how people's default reaction to someone pointing out that an idea lacks the realism the mod aims for by going through and nit-picking anything they can. Hatchets are new to this build of the game. It's entirely possible that Rocket may decide to code the tree stump axes to be lootable as hatchets. By all means, feel free to suggest that zombies should be able to break your arms, thus rendering you unable to wield a weapon. And who's to say that they aren't strong enough to break bones? The infection could very-well have given them enough strength to manage that. An accepted unrealism, since otherwise getting a broken bone would require you to deal with it for about 3 months before it's healed. Anyone with a broken bone would just kill themselves at that point just to not have to deal with it.Just because there are some things unrealistic about the game doesn't mean we want to cram more into it. Any unrealistic mechanic is going to be a very hard sell, and even then would need to be a 100% vital mechanic to keep the game playable; and no, I don't just mean playable "to the PvP whiners". Zombie AI is buggy right now, there's no way of telling whether or not that's intended. Frankly, I have yet to be able to be anywhere near a zombie without him detecting me, prone or otherwise. Not really sure what you even mean by this one; though the previous answer about buggy zombie AI probably applies, mixed with this next answer. It's called a bug. Keep in mind that this game is still in alpha, so having to call-out a bug as something that's "unrealistic" in order to support your idea just smacks of desperation. Feel free, you missed a ton. Doesn't change the fact that game's aim is to be as real as possible, thus any unrealistic idea (especially some of the ideas that get tossed around on this forum that are just straight-up magic) is going to get shot down very quickly.

    Broken Legs. Worth the crawl?

I stubbornly refuse to die. Even if it's to the point where it'd be easier to just die and restart, I always play in such a way that it's the only life I have. So yeah, there was once where I was stuck crawling around for about two hours trying to find some Morphine (I was less familiar with the game at the time, so "just head to the nearest hospital" wasn't really a thought for me yet) until I finally found someone who was willing to patch me up. At this point it was a matter of trying to get some blood, but alas I was killed by zombies due to overly blurred vision and muffled hearing. So did I manage to save the character? No, but this isn't a game of poker, so I'll be damned if I just fold because I have a bad hand.

    The Pvp Problem.

How does being in a plane not give an unfair advantage?

    Zombies are just annoying

    Blood Regeneration and Food nerfing

I believe that Rocket already plans to implement this and just hasn't gotten to it yet.

    Tires are Heavy

Cars aren't supposed to be easy to maintain solo. One of the perks to working in a group is that if your car is damaged, it's easier to repair it with more people who can carry supplies.

My thought on a PvP fix.

It does' date=' actually. Say there's a pair of rival... "clans" (or whatever we wanna call them in this game). After a rough battle and a hard defeat, Clan A decides to run to a PvE server where Clan B can't do anything about them foraging for supplies. As-is, the best that Clan A can hope for is to server hop to a random server and hope that Clan B can't figure out where they went; though even then they have to worry about running into a different group of people. So there's always the threat of running into hostile players. So now Clan B wants to go scavenging so they can maintain their upper-hand, but now they'll have to resort to going to a PvE server, too. After-all, why should they have to deal with the risk of getting killed on their runs when Clan A doesn't? With your suggestion, the PvP might as well be completely removed from the game since anyone playing the game competitively would just farm on PvE servers, and only go onto PvP servers when they're ready to actually fight. It would completely neuter any sense of "I could get attacked at any moment" except at times when you're specifically geared and [i']looking to get attacked at any moment. Oh, and then there's tents and cars. Imagine you're on a PvE server and you see a tent? Free reign. In the game as-is, though, you'd have to worry about whether or not the owner of the tent is going to be back soon, or maybe someone was left behind to keep an eye on the camp. You don't know, sure you can forage through the tent and take what you want, but there's the risk that you'll get shot and killed for stealing supplies. On a PvE server though, why bother putting up a tent? Might as well hang a neon sign that says "Free loot here!". And imagine you finally find a car, get out to do some foraging, and someone just takes it. What are you gonna do about it? Come on the forums and piss and moan that people found a way to grief you on the supposedly "grief-free" server? Player interaction (be it cooperation, backstabbing, or flat-out hostility) is a core part of what the mod is about. Deal with it.

    How to make zombies scary

I still remember the first time that happened to me. It was in the middle of Electro, and I accidentally spooked a zombie, at which point he ran down the street. "Where the heck is he going?" I wondered, when I noticed that he was running down to the corner to cross the street. I guess even in the madness of the infection, at least the zombies make sure to obey the jaywalking laws. ;P

    Please wipe everything

Between the perma-death nature of the game, and the fact that it's currently still in the buggy alpha testing phase, at no point should anyone be so attached to their characters that it's a factor in whether or not everyone gets wiped.

    How to make zombies scary

I like the idea of numerous zombies, too; but keep in mind hardware limitations in rendering them all. Even the best computers can only render so many 3D models at once before they start to really chug.
  17. WhiteTigerShiro

    Please wipe everything

I still say once a week is a bit much. Consider that when the game goes live, it won't get wiped once a week, or even once a month, or probably ever. It's worth giving a little longevity between wiping everyone so that we can see how the game holds-up in the long run. If we wipe once a week, a change could be implemented that seems like a good idea, but after a few weeks or months down the road ends-up completely destroying the feel of the game. Again, I'm not against a wipe, just that there should be a reason for it beyond "just because". Say for example right now with people being able to dupe things. Exploit gets patched, player progress gets wiped, and we see how things go from there.

Solution for server hoping to gain position.

Anyone else love the irony in this?
  20. WhiteTigerShiro

    different starting backpack

No. It's bad enough that spawn points are randomized; adding random gear at spawn would only skyrocket the rate at which people will respawn' date=' because now they need to get to the right area AND with the gear they want. The early part of the game isn't about being a packrat. If you run so low on inventory that you NEED a backpack to stash some of the access, then it just goes to show that we should spawn without a backpack so that people can learn how to loot properly. Finding a backpack should turn into a privilege that lets you stash a little extra gear.

    Cooldown for Respawn Option

Not really a ban-worthy nuisance. Frowned upon, sure, but it hardly merits a ban.Frankly, I think the timer on the Respawn option is the best bet. Once you've spawned at the beach, you have to wait maybe 30 minutes before you can choose to respawn.

    how bout this for bandits

So if I (a person who has yet to get a single murder) need some Morphine or Blood Packs, I'll get gunned down by paranoid zealots who think I'm there for this drug that for some mystical reason you get addicted to without needing to take it in the first place. No. I rather think not.
  23. WhiteTigerShiro

    Please wipe everything

How's about you make your own game, put-out an open alpha, THEN you can decide how often a full wipe should happen. As for the initial suggestion, maybe after the duping loopholes have been patched out. Much as it would suck to lose what I've gotten so far, it'd be nice knowing that everyone's on a clean slate.
  24. Clearly you're new to the forums. There are going to be repeat topics. It doesn't matter what failsafe you put in place.
