Those are put-in by YouTube*. Bandwidth isn't free, you know.*I assume they are, anyway. I have yet to upload a video myself, so I don't know what all it involves, but I'm pretty sure that the ads are put-in by default.

    How is thirst/hunger calculated?

If you full-on sprint (standing up and running), it'll consume food/water faster, but I guess I don't know how by how much. Over-all though, unless you're really hurting on food/water supplies, you don't need to worry about it.

No prob. Half of what I know about the game was from those videos (the other half having been somehow cobbled together from before you started doing them). Just a question of whether or not the mods are willing to sticky this.

As the saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words, so imagine how many words a video is worth. And it isn't so much that people don't want to write anything anymore (in fact, a lot of guides will read from a script they wrote ahead of time) as it is that people are more likely to watch a video than to read a bunch of text.

Keep in mind that pretty much all of these are are less than a couple minutes, I will make a note of any longer ones if you want to make sure you have time before watching them. Please let me know of any broken links, or missing videos. I'm subbed to Guidez, so I'll try and have any new videos I see him post up as soon as possible. A big thanks to Guidez for putting all these together for Day Z players. Installation and Set-up (About 8 Minutes) (About 5 Minutes) Location-Specific Guides (About 40 Minutes) Inventory and Controls Weapons M107 Tools and Deployable Items Medical Supplies and Survival (Chupisco's noble sacrifice shall not be forgotten) Vehicles
  7. Or shoot, at least lie about it. Because on hind sight, it was clearly Chuck Norris, and definitely not a girl. Edit: In fact, anytime I tell a story about how I got killed from now on, Chuck Norris did it. Maybe Clint Eastwood.
  8. And replace the ATV with Unicorns! You repair them with magical horseshoes instead of tires, and instead of gasoline you feed them Skittles (because everyone knows that Unicorns are powered by rainbows).
  9. Unless the devs themselves are contributing to the wiki, there's no guarantee of accuracy to that page. It's entirely likely that you can get knocked-out by a zombie at any health level, and it just becomes more likely as blood gets lower; even the point where above 9k it's so rare that people testing the mechanic just never happened to get knocked out unless they were below 9k, and just assumed that was the limit.
  10. If you can't handle the idea of the game being buggy/laggy because of its alpha status, then wait until final release. Private hives counter-act the biggest part of why he went live with the alpha in the first place. Just because you're too lazy/can't be bothered to use the forums to meet-up with people to play the game with isn't a fault of Rocket's hive.
  11. Yes, but how much of that boost in sales did Rocket actually get? Rocket's paycheck is for his work on Arma 3 (and/or any other games BIS assigns him to work on). Day Z is not a BIS game, it's something Rocket does with his free time. Thus, it doesn't earn him a paycheck.

As long as I didn't hack it in right?

No, "basically" you won't be globally banned by Battle Eye, but you CAN get banned locally if the server admins see you using the hacked gun. If you have a gun that you know was hacked, use it strictly at your own risk knowing that someone might catch you with it and ban you (and no, they won't ask, nor care, if you hacked it or found it).
  13. Because the main reason why Rocket put the game into an open alpha was to test HIS hive and see how it could handle capacity. The more people playing on private hives, the fewer people who are using Rocket's hive, and thus the less data he has on what it can handle.
  14. Because heaven forbid that a game which is developed on a person's free time and doesn't earn a paycheck isn't moving forward with the speed and force of a bullet train.
  15. Maybe you just don't know anything about programming. It is a LOT easier to say "we're working on fixing this" than it is to actually fix it, especially since some bugs can be hard to fix without causing other (possibly worse) bugs. Heck, World of Warcraft is over 5 years old, but it still has a couple of (minor) bugs from Day One; is it because the devs are too lazy to fix them? No, it's because in fixing the bugs they noticed that other, much worse and very hard to fix bugs were caused ("very hard" in this case meaning "damn-near reprogramming the entire game"). So, rather than have programmers completely rewrite something that took 4 years of development time to write the first time around for things that maybe less than 0.001% of the player base will even notice, they just left the bugs in there. Now granted, the vanishing items bug in Day Z is far from a "minor" bug, the point of my anecdote wasn't to imply that it isn't a big deal, the point was to explain that it can take a LOT of effort to fix a bug, and that's after already taking a lot of effort to find what's causing it in the first place. For all we know, they still haven't figured out why items are disappearing, or maybe they have but it's a very hard fix, or maybe it'll be easy to fix but cause other nastier bugs, or maybe it's a problem of the core game and thus not something that can be patched out until the game goes stand-alone. All I can tell you is that it's a known issue, which means that we've done all the talking about it that needs to be done. If it was something easy to find and fix, it would already be fixed. The developers have nothing to gain from not fixing something on purpose.
