  1. It's been awhile since I've been around these forums. If you dig deep enough in my post history, you'll probably find that I posted one of (if not the) very first server advertisement threads for a DayZ mod private hive. Back when the mods weren't even sure if it should be allowed or not due to private hives being a very new thing that Rocket did not like at the time. A lot has obviously changed since then, but here I am with another BMRF server advertisement post. I would like to liven things back up again and hopefully build a community as strong as it was in the lifetime of the mod. So I've purchased a private shard. Connection Info:From the server browser, click remote and enter the following information: Host: dayz.bmrf.me (75.127.1.122)Port: 2402 Here are some of the things you can expect from our server compared to others: The forum integrated BMRF whitelist.Your loot is unique to this server and we'll never restart to recycle loot.A custom BEC setup hosted on our own machine that doesn't force dumb GSP branding spamA sane timezone setup for most American players. Ideally it gets dark around 3AM EST and light around noon. This *might* not be setup correctly, so let me know if it's weird.Active admins monitoring both the game and server logs (the latest patch introduces decent admin logs.)Third person and persistence are both on.Whitelisting: Our whitelisting process is automatic, all you have to do is create an account on our forums by clicking the big "whitelist" button at https://bmrf.me or by going directly to https://community.bmrf.me/register.php. After this, our whitelisting software will use your IP from the forums and assign your GUID to your forum account once you log in. Your IP is only used once, so our whitelisting process is very seamless and straightforward. Feel free to leave any questions in this thread and I'll get to them. You can also ask at #bmrf on irc.synirc.net if you're familiar with IRC.
  2. Good numbers lately, should be well into the top 100 real soon.
  3. Yeah I think I understand you now, it's true that no actual whitelisting happens until you connect to the game. I was just a little confused since you obviously have to connect to the server to play the game, so it should never matter. It's all done within a second and the user has no idea.
  4. A GUID is never 'generated' from the IP address. There's simply a relationship between the two and you use that relationship to whitelist a player, like so: IP (game) -> GUID (game) <- IP (forum). If a person on the forums has the same IP as a connecting player, then grab the GUID they're connecting with and whitelist it. Here's the steps taken, more or less: User connects with GUID d863c7d36d96823177c9ca0372dc69c2 and IP 123.255.123.255A whitelist program watching rcon connections will check if that GUID exists in the database. If it does, the user is allowed in the server. If it doesn't, it takes the IP the user connected with and searches the forum database for a match. If a match is found, it adds the user to a new database table with the GUID they connected with, and the user ID of the forum account they were matched to.If no cases are satisfied, they're kicked from the server. This is how it works at a basic level, it does more than that as it checks certain forum usergroups and makes different decisions based on usergroup (don't allow users who haven't confirmed their email address, give VIPs and admins priority access, etc.) Edit: I see you're looking at re-doing your own auto whitelist setup, I may be able to help out if you PM me.
  5. Thanks for the kind words guys. Glad to see you around again! You can make a forum account before ever making a connection attempt to the game server and it will work fine.
  6. You get both a GUID and an IP address on a connection attempt, so that gets checked against the forum database for a matching IP. If it exists, that GUID is then linked with the forum account. So yes, creating an account on the forums is all that's required to play. The rest is automatic.
  7. Yeah fair enough, I wasn't sure if it was allowed here and it's perfectly reasonable to edit it out.
  8. Having been around since July of 2012, the Billy Mays Remembrance Foundation (bmrf.me) is the oldest DayZ private hive still standing. We pride ourselves on being a leader in the DayZ server community, setting examples of reliability with good management on a great backend. Website: http://bmrf.me Get Whitelisted: http://bmrf.me/vbforums/register.php (no GUID input required, you will be approved within 2 hours and receive an email confirmation) Why should I play on BMRF? While we are by no means the only high quality private hive nowadays, there are a few reasons you may want to choose us over another community, such as: A stable home, we've been here since the beginning. We've seen servers rise and fall, leaving players often having to find new homes. We're backed by a passionate administration team and solid funding meaning we're not going anywhere if the mod dies or standalone/Arma 3 are released full tilt. We will only strengthen by supporting these titles. An active and dedicated administration team. We are here to cater to your needs, questions, and concerns 24/7. This is usually by means of IRC support. You'll be able to find an administrator throughout all periods of the day on any day of the week, with rare exceptions. Extensive logs. We save your character to a separate database table every 30 seconds, and use these entries as a form of character history. This provides us with more information than an admin map can provide, without being prone to the abuse it can create. We use this log to restore your character to any point in time when needed, or to find cheating. In addition, all sensitive data is stored on a separate drive and automatically backed up to a remote server every 15 minutes for redundancy. Combat loggers actually get banned. While we do have a few measures within the game to discourage it, we tackle to problem with good old man muscle, responding to literally every report ever made on the forums regarding combat logging. We're serious about it, and combat loggers really do get banned at a higher rate than what any other server seems to be offering at this time. See for yourself: http://bmrf.me/vbfor...Logging-Reports To go with all our admin nerd muscle, we have a server box located in New York which reflects how serious we are about our servers. It is one of the highest spec machines money can buy: Two Intel Xeon E5-2690 processors (sixteen physical 2.9ghz cores on QPI + hyperthreading + turbo->3.8ghz) 96 GB registered DDR3 ECC memory Dual 180GB Intel SSD's 2TB Storage/Backup Drive 40000 GB of InterNAP bandwidth (20 gigabit backend) Our primary focus is DayZ Chernarus on veteran settings with crosshairs and waypoints disabled. We also have very popular Origins servers due to our exclusive whitelist and the second most popular Wasteland server in the world at the time of this writing. The most popular custom maps are supported, and we've got a custom Minecraft mod pack too. Overall, there are too many servers to list here in detail, but you can find information about them here: Rules: http://bmrf.me/?page_id=36 Servers: http://bmrf.me/?page_id=31 Useful Information thread: http://bmrf.me/vbfor...ior-to-posting) To get whitelisted and play on our servers right away, check out the quickstart guide on the front page of http://bmrf.me If you don't want to give us any ad revenue, all you have to do is make a forum account at http://bmrf.me/vbforums/register.php and after confirming the email sent to your inbox, you'll be able to join our servers. No GUID input is required, though sometimes the whitelist will require an administrator to approve your account based on numerous factors. This is the case is you get the "you will be whitelisted shortly" message when attempting to join a server, and all you have to do is wait for approval. You'll get an email notifying you of this. If you're having trouble with the process, this thread will probably help: http://bmrf.me/vbfor...whitelist-works
  9. Origins has now updated to 1.7.5. Join us at #BMRF on irc.rizon.net for more information and assistance.
  10. We were taken offline for a day due to some attacks in early April, but that's been sorted ever since! To help get this thread active again, I've completely rewritten the OP and title.
  11. I'm not sure why the anti-tp script from 1.7.6.1 is taking any blame here as you can easily remove it from your server by commenting one line, we've had the feature removed for weeks now and have never considered allowing our admins to cheat in anyway (good intentions or not). You fucked up, and you should be taking the blame rather than shifting it elsewhere. TLM has a very close partnership with well-known hackers and that tends to be what keeps him on top (due to the anti-hack measures they provide that most other public servers do not posses), and there's likely a whitelist within his anti-hack script that allow his admins to do what they do. EDIT: Actually, if you take a look at some of the leaked anti-hack scripts out there, they all have a UID whitelist for server admins. As far as I know these scripts were originally made for TLM servers, and the old versions get leaked publicly. His admins using scripts is potentially something that has been going on for a much longer period of time than this.
  12. We were one of the first servers to update to 1.7.5.1 today and it brought us a lot of players, I hope you all have a great time here and remember you can come straight into IRC with any issues. We're pretty much always available. For those of you who don't know about the channel, it's #bmrf on QuakeNet. You can always ask questions before joining and expedite your whitelisting process if an admin is around. It's a pretty active channel as well, with around 60 users.
  13. I'm using veteran and in my server's profile I have weaponcursor set to 0 in the veteran settings but crosshairs are still enabled ingame, and the server is on veteran. If I edit the expert settings to add third person instead it just uses regular difficulty. Why are my settings not working properly?
  14. That is indeed the correct answer, but if password reset isn't working for you I would recommend creating a new forum account. Doing so will not cause any issues with the whitelist.
  15. As an update, keys aren't needed anymore as we had a few issues with the implementation of that system. It's open registration again!
  16. PM'd you with a key. Going forward we're keeping it to friends/family only with a few keys being given out in advertisement threads.
  17. Not only that, but you had a full loadout in 7 minutes which you flat out refused to explain on the forums, and you were caught lying in the ban appeal when you said it was your first time playing on the server despite you admitting having another forum account which was registered awhile back. http://bmrf.me/vbforums/showthread.php?146-Banned-for-No-Reason His appeal is there if anyone is interested in reading it, I'd rather not have my reputation effected over a mongoloid like this.
  18. http://bmrf.me/vbforums/showthread.php?146-Banned-for-No-Reason As I said in that thread, I go by what I have access to and make decisions based on the evidence I find. You are one of the most convincing bans I've ever made, and your appeal only dug you further into that hole rather than help you. It's unfortunate that you consider me a dick, but I do what I have to do to keep the server free of filth.

    Any decent private hives?

Posting here even though you've already gotten some recommendations. We're an east coast US private hive with a very active community, some of our players (including admins) are from the UK and ping around 90-120, so you should be fine in that regard. As for the population, during the weekend you'll probably have issues actually joining due to it being full constantly rather than too few players. Search for 'bmrf' or 'billy mays' in DayZ commander and you'll find the server. You have to make a forum account at http://forums.bmrf.me and then you'll be able to login. For what it's worth, we have new weapons added into our chopper crash sites with balanced spawn rates if that interests you.
