  1. Howdy, I work nights and thus play non-peak times. I typically start gaming around 5 am and play until around 2 am (MDT: GMT -6). I don't work Saturday or Sunday nights, so those nights I get up around 9-10 pm and have the whole night to play. I've got about two weeks in Day Z, and feel confident about my overall knowledge of the game. I'm familiar with all the major locations in the game, know how to loot without agroing zombies, and I have a mic. In the last couple of days I have kind of gotten tired of playing the ultra-careful solo survival game and have been basically living in Cherno and Elektro, just getting into fights and getting some combat experience. I don't really care what we do, though banditry is appealing. I just want to play this game with some other people, because the solo game is... limited. I'm down to be a medic, a mule, whatever. Mainly I just want people who play the same general times as me. Just hit me up with a PM and we'll go from there!

    No wonder people hack!!

I totally agree that it sucks man, but the truth is this is an alpha mod that isn't very old. We really can't rage at the developers, as much as we may want to. Personally, I've decided that in the current state of the mod, it's kinda crazy/masochistic to play ultra-hardcore survivalist. I've spent three days crouchwalking through trees and being extremely careful only to log in in the debug desert. So until the mod is less buggy, I'm just staying in the cities and not expecting to live very long, and just messing around with the game instead of getting intensely invested in it. I kinda think that's what we're supposed to be doing, but when you start playing this game, you can't really help but let it become all-consuming :D The less attached I become to my gear, the more fun the game gets. Srsly
  3. It would be cool if there were a central, promptly-updated web resource that players could check when having problems, to see if it's just them or the whole game. If such a resource already exists and I'm just a tard, please inform me. But the news page and twitter feed are 14 hours old. Just sayin.

    Servers under attack still ?

I'll pretty much guarantee you that the parties responsible for the DDOS attacks are not in the U.S. or Western Europe, making it extremely unlikely that local authorities will give a shit.
  6. Yea, I've never gone there and not found either a) people there or b) a bunch of boxes of medical supplies. Is it even possible to clear the boxes away? They just seem to refill instantly. As helman said, you cant interact with the boxes until you clear the trash from around them, which sucks and makes an already dangerous situation take longer, but there it is.

    Tent questions

So in my week of playing I've found a few tents. First one I found I spent like an hour finding a good hiding spot. When I came back, it was dark and I spent like half an hour looking for it and couldn't find it. I then realized I'd forgotten to save it. It was only a couple of hours since I'd pitched it. Did it poof or was I just unable to find it in the dark? Does the "Save" action save the tent itself or the items inside, or both? Another question. On a later life I found another tent. Remembering the last time, I found a not-very-hidden but off-the-beaten-path place to put my tent, so I could find it again. Put a bunch of food and soda in it, made sure I hit "Save" like three times, then went off and did my thing for awhile. Came back about 24 hours later and my tent was empty. I know your items are not totally safe in a tent and they may poof sometimes. When this happens, does everything disappear, or just a few items? Or did someone just find my tent? Also... just how likely is it that your stuff will disappear? And is it by design that they are not totally safe, or just a limitation of the alpha?
  8. Personally, I just avoid the hell out of zombies, and it works very well for me. I pretty much never kill zombies in a town, or anywhere else for that matter. If I'm scavenging and I screw up, I haul ass out of town, then turn and kill the agrod ones. I find firing my weapon in town probably just means I'm going to be hauling ass with MORE zombies on my tail than if I'd just started running. If you're in a town near a steep hill, that's an easy way to ditch the zombies. Just find a slope that's too steep to run straight up, do some zig-zagging, and they're gone. I am a stealth game veteran though, and Day Z zombies are very, very easy to stealth around once you figure out their detection rules. Keep a little distance, don't ever run, always crouch, and they pretty much won't see you unless you walk into one. IMO shooting zombies is just a waste of ammo. The one exception might be clearing out a barracks or a heli crash. Even in those cases, I'd probably only shoot if the zombie was standing right on top of something I wanted.

    Player Behavoir Evolution

You should be able to move through barbed wire, at a stiff cost of time and perhaps a chance to start bleeding. It's kinda dumb that it's a brick wall. I've been able to step over it many times but I have a feeling I could break a leg doing that. Not sure.
