I know they're called magainzes, and I don't give a fuck. I don't use firearms in real life, I'm not a cop, and I was never in the military, so I'm gonna go on calling them clips. Mainly because I enjoy annoying people like the OP who think they can change my verbal habits by being a dick about it.

To Everyone Complaining About 1.7.7
bofadeez replied to NovaDose's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Personally I think adding mechanics to zombies while doing nothing about the fundamental problems (which can't be fixed in Arma 2) is like putting an extra layer of whipped cream to a turd sundae. Still tastes like a turd. The patch didn't make DayZ-the-mod a better game. Zombies are just as buggy as they were before, if not worse. They are just more powerful, resulting in more ways of getting screwed by bugs. "Surviving" isn't any more difficult than it was; you still just get hatchet/matches/knife/4 bottles and go live in the north woods. If all you care about is surviving, there's no more reason to go near a town than there was previously. Honestly if you are completely anti-PvP and only want to survive, how do you stay interested in the game? Once you have the tools, "survival" is trivial. PvP supplanted "survival" as the standard mode of gameplay due to the fact that DayZ-the-mod would never be able to provide the gameplay that it envisions, due to fundamental limitations in the Arma2 engine. This patch is a misguided attempt to advance that vision, with what appears to be wholesale disregard, if not disdain, for the standard PvP playstyle, and yet the game is no less broken and no closer to its vision than it was previously. IMO the mod developers should be trying to improve DayZ along the lines of how people actually play, not according to some abstract notion of how the game should be. I think this is why there are only a handful of populated vanilla servers, and boatloads of Origins and Breaking Point servers. Stop re-inventing the game. Leave the re-invention to rocket and the standalone team. Observe the way people play and improve upon that, instead of going "NO YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG" and attempting to shoehorn people into a particular playstyle by implementing cackhanded new "features." Compensating for silly bugs like zombies not being able to run inside by adding other silliness like zombies knocking you down and infecting you through walls really only has the net effect of making the game even more silly, while screwing up the game experience that people know and enjoy. -
Looking for a few people to play Dayz Origins
bofadeez replied to Chalas's topic in Clan / Group Recruitment
Tried sending you a PM, said you can't recieve them. I'd be interested in playing some Origins. I'm 32, laid back, and very experienced in DayZ. Not super experienced in Origins, but I understand most of the game systems, how to build etc, and mostly know the map. Got a mic and ready for TS. Let me know if you'd like to meet up. Skype: deefranx or steam: http://steamcommunity.com/id/deefranx/ -
Once you've been playing for even a short while, survival becomes trivial. Hatchet/knife/matches and water bottles = live forever, far from towns, with next to zero risk. I think most people do one or two lives like that, then die to either bad luck or a bug, and are done with that playstyle. All that's left, then, is PvP. Hunting players is fun and challenging. The fact that you do not see the point in it doesn't make it not fun for me. For me, scavenging towns forever with no PvP is about as fun as reading the dictionary. If you have fun doing that, great. I'll keep having fun doing what's fun for me, which is hunting other players.

Primary, Backpack, Tools go poof... what did I do wrong?
bofadeez replied to bofadeez's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Cool cool, thanks for the tips. I guess in the future I will just not log out so quickly... I just get ultra scared at heli crashes in the dark, because I've been sniped at heli crashes on nearly-empty nighttime servers several times. -
Primary, Backpack, Tools go poof... what did I do wrong?
bofadeez posted a topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Yea, so I'm not here whining, I just want to see if someone can explain what happened to me and what I should avoid doing in the future. Was creeping around a nighttime server with my NVGs. Found a heli crash, with an M107 and an L85. I had an M4SD on me that I wanted to save for a friend, so I fiddled with my inventory, dropped most of my consumables, and started heading away from the chopper with the M107 and M4SD in my bag, the L85 equipped, and primary inventory full of ammo. I headed for the nearest treeline and logged out. When I logged back in, I was missing absolutely everything I was carrying, except for the items in my main inventory. Equipped weapons, backpack, tools, NVG/Binoculars all vanished. Logged in/out on multiple servers to make sure, and yea, the stuff is gone. Now I've definitely had experiences where stuff I had looted in the last few seconds disappeared after being disconnected, but a. I didn't get disconnected, I manually logged out, and b. it wasn't just the items I had recently looted, but everything. Did I do something bad, or did I just get screwed by a random bug? -
I would argue that what you call "normal people" and "bandits" are one and the same. People who don't shoot on sight are the odd men out.

I've encountered exactly ONE hacker in the last month. The game is entirely playable. Your problem is that you are getting too attached to your gear. Don't you know you're not supposed to do that? These are all perfectly valid points, and the fact that you listed them dismissively at the beginning of your post does not change that. The next six paragraphs of your post consist of nothing but complaints about the fact that this is an alpha, so they require no rebuttal. It's not going to become more stable as a mod of Arma 2, so you can just move along now.

It's funny how people think adding a sentence like this somehow makes their post less retarded or less of a butthurt whine.

Has anyone actually died of Hunger or Thirst ?
bofadeez replied to Spunkmire's topic in New Player Discussion
You don't start losing health right away. Once I had the hunger icon flashing and was desperately searching for an animal. Took me a good ten minutes to find one and I was fine. -
I'm looking for some people to play with. I have a lot of time to play, but I work nights and sleep in the afternoon, so my playtime is not typical. I'm in US mountain time, which is GMT -6. My playtime is 4AM - 2PM during the week and 10PM - 2PM on the weekends. I don't fill all those hours with Day Z, but those are when I'm not at work or asleep. I just want to find some regular buddies to play with. Playing solo has just kind of lost its appeal. I see other people moving around in groups and it looks like they are having way more fun than me :D I know the game very well and have accomplished a lot on my own... I've had pretty much all the equipment, fixed a few cars, etc. I feel like I pretty much know how everything in the game works. I'm a decent shot and I understand tactics. I'm totally fine with someone else leading. I'm not going to be greedy about loot. I'm willing to do any role, be it medic, overwatch, or putting my ass on the line as point man. I'm down with either banditry or friendly survival. I'm 31, have a mic and good connection. Right now I only have TeamSpeak on my PC, but I can get whatever comms software you want. Hit me up with a PM here or on Steam: bofadeez (empty profile with skull picture). Heading to work now, will be home around 4AM (-6).

I have a Razer Megalodon, 7.1 surround headset. Was about $150. Expensive, but I've never regretted it. I've had it for over two years and have become very accustomed to using auditory cues to locate things in the game world. I can't imagine playing Day Z, or any other 3D game for that matter, without full 3D audio. I can be in the middle of a town in pitch blackness and know exactly where the zombies are. If you're one of those people that uses the word "immersion" like it's sacred, you owe it to yourself to get a 7.1 headset.

You're playing too much Dayz if...
bofadeez replied to Vanz0r's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I had to ride the bus for an hour to a part of town I've never been to before to get a new driver's license the other day. On the way, the bus passed a large, tall grey industrial building (I think it's some kind of grain silo, but I dunno) that looks just like the big factory in the middle of Cherno. Before I even realized what I was doing, I was scanning the top of it for snipers. -
Winchester or Lee Enfield? [POLL]
bofadeez replied to Dawn (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I generally grab a Lee Enfield and don't get rid of it until I find a proper sniper rifle, except perhaps an AKM if I find one with a lot of ammo, or maybe an American rifle with an ACOG, depending on what I'm planning to do. Ever since a guy tried to snipe me with a M107 from on top of the factory and I nailed him with my Lee Enfield (yea he sucked, but still) I've been an Enfield devotee. Nothing wrong with the Winchester though, especially for zombies. It's so quiet. -
I'd also take an AKM over a Kobra. The rounds are way more powerful. Also you can zero it. All you get on the Kobra is a shitty non-zoom scope that you can't zero, and weak rounds. As far as CZ vs AK, considering you have the MP5SD, I'd take the CZ. CZ+MP5SD covers more bases than AK+MP5SD.
