Which actually isn't very much. Seeing as security was the main concern in the move over to a MMO architecture, I wouldn't read too much into any tidbits of information released so far. At the end of the day, there will be some cheating of course, but hopefully far removed from what was possible in the mod.

Do You Regret Anything You Have Done In DayZ?
jovial replied to Devon206 (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I was driving with a friend somewhere up north, when we spot a guy running along the road. I yell at him to not run on the roads in direct and then proceed to smash into him and break his leg. We then continue on our road trip. Oh wait. That actually gives me a tingly feeling. I have no regrets. :D -
There are some decent spots, but I won't divulge them. :)

Origins is offering everything I want so there's probably nothing less than proper base building that would draw me back to vanilla, but I loved the sound of these latest patch changes. However the main issue with zombies will always be their glitchyness, wall haxing, zig zagging antics. As we've seen from E3, even standalone still has these issues, but I hope in standalones case it can be resolved.

We are primarily a fun loving bunch, we kill people for fun and profit, as well as work toward building bases and the accumulation of weapons and vehicles. We welcome both hero and bandit players, we play as a clan, and generally kill the people who cross our paths regardless if they're survivors, heroes or bandits, though sometimes we can be friendly as well depending on the situation. :) To join us you should ; be mature and friendly play in the afternoon/evening primetime GMT+1 (CET) be at least 20 years old be easy going and able to hang out in TS during playing be willing to play on a server we are already established on If you're interested and think you would fit into our group, PM me here to tell me some of your gaming history and introduce yourself.

[AR] looking for a few more in DayZ Origins
jovial replied to jovial's topic in Clan / Group Recruitment
Bump. -
The accumulation of weapons, gear and vehicles for use to destroy other people and accumulate even more things is the endgame for your typical clan. :) Getting killed and looting and running around for 1 hour to get geared up again gets tiresome after a while. Don't get me wrong, even with a clan, and a camp, you'll find yourself starting from scratch sometimes, but if you can save yourself some of that hassle, why not?

This is one of the main things that makes me exhausted after a long DayZ session even though I don't think about it as much now. Constantly scanning around for threats. You should simply learn to detect them after a while, recognizing shapes, movement patterns, etc. Very seldom does anything apart from a properly positioned ghillie player escape my notice if I'm in active search mode.

The number one issue my friends talk about is how the game has turned into kill on sight.
jovial replied to scaramoosh's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The ruleset makes you think back to UO times, but the current game lacks mechanics to make a friendly playstyle viable or desirable for more than a fraction of the players. Ideally, I would like to see some mechanics in place to reward friendly play. Perhaps access to some NPC city at a certain Hero level. Origins has a pretty thought out system, but something like an NPC city or other substantial reward for friendly play would be needed to make it a more popular playstyle. -
I'd like to see more complex vehicle mechanics in general, but things like forcing 1st person should be left in the server admins hands.

(Undead Labs) Class 4 vs DayZ: SA vs Project Zomboid
jovial replied to DayzForumer's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
No multiplayer, except possibly co-op in a update if the game does very well. Wait for Class4, the game State of Decay is supposed to be a stepping stone towards, which will be a proper MMO. That would be a better comparison with DayZ SA. -

Bump, could still use 1-2 more players. -
My top 3 wishlist for the DayZ Standalone development and release.
jovial replied to Rage VG's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Depending on how effective anti-cheats will actually be, CBL may not even arise. Personally, if the cheater/hacker situation will be anything near the mod, I'll play private servers if the option will exist. -
My top 2 ; Taviana (awesome, large, great for vehicles) Lingor (change of scenery, tropical climate) On mods, Origins (Taviana) is really good if you're into vehicle heavy play and basebuilding capability (houses, garages, etc) despite the shady makers.

Will DayZ be overshadowed by next-gen consoles at E3?
jovial replied to Stoddy15's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Probably, I don't see why though. For serious gaming there is no beating the PC, end of story. -
I look forward to SA very much, but since I found DayZ Origins, I'm not too worried about when it releases exactly. SA won't have vehicles or basebuilding at the start, basically the missing things (at least proper base building) that made me quit vanilla DayZ. Then again, the sooner it enters proper public alpha, I suppose the sooner we'll see vehicles and basebuilding. :)

What's your most favorite part about Day Z?
jovial replied to KateUpton's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Just the basic feeling, the atmosphere. Post-apocalypse, zombies, old school FFA PvP sandbox world. Right off the bat, that is what got me. What has me playing now, in DayZ Origins, is base building, more vehicles, etc. The stuff that will actually keep clans playing. I know neither will be in SA at the start, but I hope it gets added fast. -
What kind of custom maps would you like to see in SA?
jovial replied to dajeroen's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Having played a few different ones, I like Taviana the best. It's big and great for vehicles, which is one of the most enjoyable parts of the game for me. -
This would actually be awesome. Most of the time, zombies are a mere annoyance, or a marker/trail leading you to other players. I'd love to see that change. Also, zombie trains. Please.
-
It should be noted private hive does not always equal an easier experience, just a different one. The one I play has most of the sniper rifles removed from database/loot tables, which is the one thing I'm hoping Rocket will have in SA ; much less high end military sniper rifles, if any at all. The issue of KoS and banditry will always be there as a side effect of the sandbox concept, but the main issue with it has always been the easy access to sniper rifles. Removing them will even the playing field a lot at least.

Social Observation: Playing DayZ to not play DayZ
jovial replied to ACow's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think you had it here. Personally, I feel that the clan angle is what is central to a sandbox game. Having an endgame where a clan can accomplish something (construction, basebuilding, hoarding, or more imaginative objectives like creating a white hat police force to control a city) is where it's at. I'm not saying that anything should be completely safe, but I think you're exaggerating the permanence of clan camps, given the state of hacking, not to mention the state of good old snooping players with grenades. Not to mention bringing up duping (or hacking in general), which hopefully will not be a issue in a future live release, or at least not as much of an issue. If anything, clan bases need to have a bit more permanence than they do now, and Rocket has also confirmed this will be so. I think some people make the mistake of looking at this as a zombie survival sim first and foremost, when in fact it's a sandbox game first and foremost. Avoiding some of the consequences of a harsh ruleset in a sandbox world by organizing and banding together is not a design flaw, completely the opposite. -
Awesome, Rocket says OK to private hives! This makes me happy.
jovial replied to Oddzball's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
No confusion. They are working on the standalone, that's all that matters. Later on, this mod will be left in the community hands, but noone will really give a fuck one way or the other, about balance, private hives or whatever, because most of us will be playing the standalone. -
I like Lingor, but its glitchier than vanilla DayZ and that's saying something. :D Fun if you're bored with vanilla DayZ though.

Why are the AS50 and M107 in the game?
jovial replied to scott24z's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Introduce windage as another factor when sniping, presto, many less successful snipers. Everyone wins.
