    A way to make pistols work for freshspawns would be to make it possible to stick it in your waistband, at the risk of an accidental discharge with chance to injure.

    Modern anti material rifle no [People who start threads asking for them should be banned/shot/deported to siberia], an old WW2 AT rifle like the PTRD would be awesome.

    At least 80% of my deaths have been from getting shot on sight, regardless of where, what gear I have or whether I make contact with them [friendly etc]. This game is a glorified shooter at the moment.

    No, M4s should not be gen military, there needs to be some genuinely rare gear in the game and western military weapons are perfect candidates.

  7. It's just not a half assed game, it simply is an alpha build, the devs are under no obligation to meet any deadlines they set themselves optimistically as early estimates. They don't need excuses, they've gotten millions of Euro off DayZ already. You really do just need to wind your neck in and accept that you have to wait until development is finished if you want a proper finished DayZ standalone instead of feeling that you have been cheated after buying a product labelled 'THIS IS AN EARLY ACCESS ALPHA' 'we strongly advise you not to buy this game'. You don't have access to DayZ SA to play it, you have access to the SA to TEST it. Your reward for testing is that you get the title at a discounted price, you get to influence the development of the game via bug reports and suggestions and you will also likely enjoy testing the game despite the 'interruptions of game functionality'.
  8. Many irrational thinkers have, but they're not worth worrying about as they are so inept as to be unable to read the massive CAPS message that was present on the store page and that they had to agree to upon loading the game that actively tells people not to buy the game yet.

    Even looking at towns like Chernaya Polana and comparing them to the likes of Elektro, a town that has had little work done to it since the mod, you can see the new town looks a lot more lifelike and believable, my main nag about the map is that some old buildings just don't fit in with the new ones [firestations] and some new ones need an interior expansion [Hospitals]
  10. Disinfectant spray in the stomach is very bad, household disinfectant in a wound is generally not ideal but by no means lethal.

Anything that changes dayz from being a game where you get geared up and go PVP, a ballistics system and medical/wounding system that makes PVP as exciting as ArmA2 ACE firefights, something to change the current meta of pretty much only 10 meter firefights to long 100-300 meter firefights in which one side don't just run away in panic.

    Basically a system whereby you can right click say a weapon you cant carry and ruin it, or a system where you can rig a piece of loot with explosives to kill anyone who tries to pick it up, if they add beartraps and landmines leaving one under some loot wouldnt be a problem as they'd be easy enough to spot

    Survivors who don't know how to hold guns properly able to fly F16s? Tanks without cannon turrets could well be a thing sort of, a BRDM with a pintle mounted PKM for example [no turret] or even a T34-85 without armament would be fun to see, applique armour bolted on to vehicles like cars etc would be cool too.
  17. Tear gas grenades, possibly an area 1-2km squared saturated with an area denial agent like VX [logical backstory being they tried it to kill zombies] maybe at a border post to be added in the NW corner of the map.

    New NEAF civ buildings!

    They should do the same with all the airfields in the game, I read somewhere back when arma 2 released that NWAF was the main civilian airport, that's not to say there shouldn't be military installations there but I certainly think that the area around the main hangars and firestation could do with being turned into a civilian terminal with new hangar models.

    Right, so lets point out some fundamental differences between the Vietnam war and DayZ. In the Vietnam war, the Viet Cong, and North Vietnamese army aimed to inflict massive casualties on the US forces in order to turn US public opinion against the war and forcing the US out. Booby traps made sense as the US were far better equipped and enjoyed air superiority everywhere that US ground forces were deployed making it suicidal to confront them with conventional warfare, it was pretty basic guerilla warfare. DayZ is a survival horror MMO, the survivors aim to survive in a world infested with hostile infected after society has broken down, there are no Americans trying to eliminate them with airpower, armour, artillery etc. There is no war to win. The survivors aren't aiming to inflict casualties on an army they're aiming to survive. Booby trapping of tents and stashes makes a lot of sense and would be a great feature, booby trapping your backpack and trouser pockets does not and would not be a great feature. I should also point out Vietnam and DayZ have no relation whatsoever, going by your last point why not also add in F16s and 105mm light guns, this is a sandbox with 'free limits' after all.

    Beartraps and floor based traps are grand, trapping and sabotaging loot etc is not. It's pretty obvious why.

    Plenty of people in game, it's just not a feasible RL situation, it's a survival horror MMO, not a shooter. The risk of completely unrealistic booby traps would take looting of high end geared corpses out of the game effectively.

    Weapon Preferences

    Righto, out of the mains you listed I'd opt for an AKM without scope [Haven't found an AK101 yet]. I like the CR527 for a number of reasons, in terms of performance it hits like a mosin despite using a weaker round, I personally find the sights on the CR to be great both at close range and when firing at distant enemies. I don't 'snipe' so much as I look to fire at enemies from about 100-300 meters away, this panics them while leaving me far enough away to avoid instant detection but remain close enough to block escape routes etc by relocating. Using an AKM or the like to do this is much more likely to get me spotted and take return fire, and while a CR may be mistaken for a few potshots from a distant shooter, targets expect AKM fire to be coming from <100meters so they turtle up and get defensive making them harder to kill as opposed to runners [weapon sounds atm are hit and miss so it's hard to tell the difference between shots from 50 meters and shots from 300 sometimes]. It also looks cool which is a big plus xD. Downsides are the need to find mags and the fact that it is loud like a mosin.

    People in a situation like DayZ IRL aren't going to be worried about people getting their gear if they're killed, no one would roam around with live explosives and the like in their pack ready to go off if tampered with, it makes no sense, and is massively detrimental to overall gameplay quality if someone gets the better of you and kills you, thats that, deal with it, new life, new survivor. As they said a while ago, indiscriminate booby trapping of loot is a no go. To be cliche and annoying, this isn't CoD, it's not about kills.

    Character Independence and Gear

    I like where you've gone with this, the positive responses also give me a little bit of hope, on forums where a lot of people want flyable helicopters and planes, to be flown by survivors with weapon animations done purposefully to make them look like they're untrained.
