Why is torchia so opposed to different ammo types, make a bloody realistic survival game, the mosins one is likely to find in chernarus would be firing 7.62 x54r *edited to be nice instead of being crass and vulgar*

CR75 Worthless and Equip Weapons a Hindrance.

9 9mm bullets to the Belly and to the chest [implies innaccuracy, possibility that you didn't hit him in the chest] Is survivable and can be fought through when jumped up on adrenaline, what's bent here is that a quick bandage and about 2 hours with a belly full of food will have him in peak health. What I take out of this is the need for a proper medical system to go with the survival aspect. -
Experimental brings us hunting, do you want to know what this means?

Being able to light fires without stones, [i keep getting that bloody wind put out the match message] would be key, once that is a thing, yes tone up the difficulty, even if it scares away the deathmatchers who spend all their time hovering around major loot spawns, this game needs to be about survival and zombies first, PvP combat, although crucial a close second -
how about cooking rice, or mixing ingredients in your cooking pot to make tasty meals like beef casserole with cold canned spaghetti sauce, delicious...

ACE style ballistics would bring a lot to DayZ, Hitting a man sized target at 800 meters with a Mosin isn't something your average survivor should be able to do easily. Making sniping more difficult/rewarding than a pretty much unmissable shot on some bloke as he stops to loot an ATC tower. It would also encourage the use of suppressive fire more, as DayZ is one of few games in which this works [without having to desaturate your screen or cause increased weapon sway or camera shake like some shooters] given the penalties involved in dying. Not to mention the magic R word, Realism.

The Community's List of Suggested Weapons for Dayz Standalone (Version: 1.29)
a_ruttle replied to alexeistukov's topic in Suggestions
I still think that the only military weapons in chernarus should be CDF, Guerilla and very rare russian/american types, also rarity of civilian weapons could also be determined by it's likelyhood of being there, like you're much more likely to find a Mosin in chernarus than say a lee enfield or other weapon like it -
I also think they should add in a 'tea withdrawal' status for any players from the UK/Ireland, after 5 minutes without tea you collapse and die. It's a realistic feature
-
Seems logical that one should be able to find the right sized rocks without having to hack away at a boulder

I agree, American military weapons should be chopper crash only and rare at them, However the RPK is a heavy barrelled AKM which makes it more accurate at range and more suited to sustained fire for when they add proper weapon conditions and that post was referring to the 74 variant, which was the same as the RPK only based off the AK74 -

They're pretty damn common in civilian circles from what I gather and one could say the same about Blazers, Longhorns, M1911s and Colt Pythons in regard to finding them in cherno, the thing about civilian weapons is you can never tell what you're gonna find where, I recall finding a bolt and bayonet off a Japanese rifle in an old trunk in my grandparents house in Ireland. -
Well the mod did descend into chaos, mainly from hackers but initially the mod was very good for PvP, less than 50% of kitted players you bumped into were looking to PvP except those at NWAF or other high risk areas and of the others, lots tried to communicate as opposed to just pumping 10 M4 rounds into your back like literally everyone does now in the standalone. I haven't encountered an armed player who hasn't either shot at me, tried to shoot at me, or try to rob me [then shoot me anyway]. PvP in DayZ has lost its novelty, now its just like regular old ArmA combat, *bang bang, where's it coming from? there, suppress, move, eliminate rinse and repeat* there's no terror in getting jumped any more, weapons and other gear are too common to have any sentimentality about them.

Rain, broken bones, zombies, 12 year olds, suicide, communication, melee weapons etc
a_ruttle replied to Hunter4's topic in Suggestions
pinning all the KoS PvP on 12 year olds just makes your thread look like an inane rant, people of every age do it, most because they suspect the person they see will do it to them. -
No hummer, no armoured vehicles, no foreign vehicles that wouldn't be in chernarus, examples like old 1 tonner land rovers and ford escorts are grand though

How about the AR7 survival gun, it's 22lr and can be dissassembled and stored in its hollow stock. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AR-7 -
Yeah, I think ACE mod in ArmA II give the chedaki engineer a grease gun as default loadout
-
Makes sense, Russian weapon, would've been used by spetznaz in chernarus during arma II

Protest against the new update for night/day being added
a_ruttle replied to JosephHabib's topic in Suggestions
get rid of gamma exploitation, make all nights moonlit, problem solved -
Russian and German WW2 weapons make sense, american no, MAYBE the M1 garand as theyre very popular rifles in countries where large cal semi autos are legal
-
Yeah, one of the things I was hyped for when I saw every building being enterable being announced was like, extensive interiors, so hospitals in dayz being big eerie mazes of scary corridors like mercy hospital in Left4dead, those pictures of the abandoned hospital are very eerie indeed, un nerving even
-
Inventory needs to have way more slots. Items need to have both weight and volume values. (Long post)
a_ruttle replied to St. Jimmy's topic in Suggestions
a cross between ACE mods volume/weight system and dayzs slot system, perfect. -
Or how a about a fatigue system to punish the tards who run around with 2 300 round boxes, 10 cans of food, 2 litres of fluid 2 weapons while sucking air through a gas mask A crucial element of the survival aspect of the game is travelling smart, like carrying what you need, I don't think I've ever needed to take more than 2 30 round M4 mags or 20 mosin rounds
-
Bullet trails? seriously.... Tracer ammo should definately be added, right now the amphibia round leave tracers but like, what even are bullet trails..
-
All the old buildings ported from OFP/ARMA/ARMA2 redone, the hospital expanded lots, ie full interiors, every room in every building enterable, lots of junk loot where it should be, a warderobe with different colours of the same clothes items etc. Balota turned into a civilian airstrip, airport hangars with detailed interiors, more military buildings that make sense, so armourys that spawn weapons as opposed to some know leaving an M4 on his bed and an SKS under it
-
So they re do the weapon holding animations to resemble that of an untrained non military civilian in the SA, now, if your character doesn't know how to use a firearm properly, how is he going to crew and operate a tank
