    HACKERS ARE OUT OF CONTROL

And let's be honest Tonic, I bet 75% of people who play this game, me included, have no idea what a HIVE is, and most of them, like me also, probably don't care. We didn't buy this game to listen to BIS make excuses (or for you to make them for BIS) or to get a lesson in computer science/network engineering as to why their game is broken. Being rude to people making legitimate complaints just further discourages mature and respectful people like myself and others from voicing our frustrations in a civilized way. I appreciate and welcome you educating me a little on how things work, but please don't be a facetious asshole about it. The world is result driven. Not excuse driven. If this isn't fixed someone else will do it better and DayZ will be forgotten.

    HACKERS ARE OUT OF CONTROL

Last I checked and heard was that Rocket was actually being employed by BIS? So as a direct representative of the company and with DayZ being his brainchild, is he not a legitimate person to complain to? Even if you think we are complaining to the wrong people, are they really the wrong people if the right people hear our complaints in the end? I don't think so. Considering the amount of responses we've gotten from the devs about this issue, it doesn't seem like they're getting bogged down by reading what we are saying. I don't think the point of any of these posts or threads is to place blame on anyone or thing, but these forums are a place for players to voice their frustrations about things that are wrong with the game whether its mechanics or hackers, which is exactly what we are doing. No need to go around calling people "selfish" or "little kids" because we want things fixed. BIS has made, probably, tens of millions of dollars off this mod and they stand to make millions more. Is it too much to ask them to make a few changes? No. Can they afford to make some changes with the new windfall from DayZ? Yes. Will they lose millions in potential profits if things aren't fixed quickly? Yes. Its in their interest to fix things ASAP. I don't know much about networking or coding. I can appreciate that its very difficult and intricate and takes time. I don't think most people, myself included, expect a miracle fix by tomorrow, but I don't think some sort of official response to these posts is asking too much, especially considering the volume and deteriorating game conditions. Anyway, DayZ is a very unique and fun game. I've never played anything like it before and considering its popularity after being around for only a short time, I think its safe to say that other people feel the same way. Competitors and imitators are watching (War Z) and developing their own versions of the DayZ idea. Its Rocket's and BIS' game to lose if they dont listen to the community. Again, I'm not here to flame Rocket, the developers, or BIS, but BIS operates in the business world where the first person to adapt to change wins. If they dont change and adapt, then someone else will come along and make a DayZ without hackers and cheaters and BIS will be sad.

    HACKERS ARE OUT OF CONTROL

Can we get some dev/Rocket response to these posts. This is obviously a problem and yet, nothing official has come down addressing it. I love how Rocket can do an one hour youtube interview with sidestrafe, but can't come into forums and say something meaningful about an issue that is really ruining the game. HIS game. I don't know if he is oblivious to this problem or just ignoring the literally hundreds and hundreds of threads about hackers, but its getting old. This game is going nowhere fast if he doesn't get some help and all of his time spent coding for it, by himself, will be for naught. Here's the interview for those of you interested: I kind of had this playing in the background when I was doing something else, but I don't remember him saying anything about hackers in it. I don't comb through these forums all day and maybe he has said something about it and I just missed it. If that is the case I'd appreciate it if someone linked it for me. Also, in response to those who flame us for complaining to the DayZ team, the way I see it, its their game/mod so its their responsibility. I don't really see BIS listening to gamers about some mod that they didn't even develop and after all, these are the DAYZ forums and we play DAYZ. It may be a Battle Eye issue, but the developers for DayZ are our link to BIS and they are the ones that would have the clout with BIS to get something done about this. If we keep making legitimate posts addressing legitimate issues with the game, the DayZ team can bring this to BIS as evidence that something on their end is broken and needs fixing, in this case, Battle Eye. The game has potential to sell millions of copies of Arma II, but if this keeps up BIS' wallets are gonna get hit because people will stop buying it and streamers will some streaming it etc. Its unfortunate that that's what it might take for BIS to move on this, but at least these posts will be a warning to any potential buyers to stay away from the game and spend their money on a game that isn't infested with hackers. Cheers.

    Hackers are ruining this game

Yea, like I said, I know nothing about coding, and I am not trying to flame here, so please keep those types of replies out of here. I am just letting my frustration out in the only place I know where to do it. I am doing it with respect so don't take it the wrong way. Even if its not the dev's job to police hackers Bohemian Interactive has a very strong interest in fixing the game and taking the advice of us players. They've made a lot of money off this mod and in my opinion, they are actually in a position to lose a lot of they don't fix these problems. Thank you for the constructive replies clearing up that its not the dev's responsibility to fix hacking problems. I just hope others post helpful threads that spur whoever is in charge of such things to fix the problems. In an update, I joined another high population server and it was hacked as well. Three helicopters flying around, half of Cherno leveled. Probably done with this game for a few days. Cheers.
  5. US #00 and US 314. Joined US #00, got teleported to the NW airfield along with every other player on the server and surrounded by bear traps. Those of us who managed to get out were given mk 48s and a deathmatch ensued. Kinda funny, except I left the server, joined US 314 and the same exact thing happened. Seems like the same hacker having fun at everyone else's expense. Within the past 24 hours I've been the subject of hackers' "jokes" five times; three ports, one godmode killing, and once being killed by an A-10 warthog, so this is me doing my part and trying to help fix the problem, even know I know nothing can/will be done about it. I don't take this, or any other game too seriously, but this is getting old and its ruining my DayZ experience. I don't know what the dev team is doing, but I've heard some discouraging things, ranging from Rocket refusing to enlist more help to issues being "unfixable." I've been playing this game for about a month now. The first few weeks I rarely encountered hackers, but now I can't join a high population server without being trolled by one. This is a really fun game and has a lot of potential, but in terms of hacking, I have not ever played a game that's been this bad. Battle Eye is a joke. Reporting is much too difficult/ineffectual/pointless and judging by the number and type of posts under this topic and my own experiences, the problem seems to only be getting worse. Much worse. What's being done to fix the problem? The community is growing, but that won't last when new players figure out that they don't stand a chance versus bandits and hackers, and veteran players such as myself will quit because the devs focus on silly issues such as adding bear traps to the game instead of fixing real problems. I can't knock the devs too much because, knowing nothing about coding, I can only imagine that its hard as hell and there will always be trolls who want to hack/cheat/ruin the game for others, but please don't let them win? Good luck.

All servers should enable name tags

Maybe you're just lucky, or I am unlucky, but I encounter hackers on a regular basis. Also, is it really that much of a deal breaker to have name tags enabled? I am just trying to understand where you're coming from.
  7. I know name tags can somewhat take away from the experience of the game, such as revealing player locations, but I think that the benefit of being able to catch hackers outweighs such considerations. It is my experience that hackers tend to frequent servers that have name tags disabled more, making reporting much more difficult. Today, a buddy and I got ax murdered by a player in the northwest airfields. We were both sitting inside two different pine trees, he was wearing a ghillie suit I was wearing camo, near invisible, when a player walked up to the two of us, and proceeded to hack us to death. We both emptied several clips into him to no avail. He walked over to my buddy, laid down and hacked him to death. Then he walked over to me, laid down, and hacked me to death. All while getting shot, and hit many, many times. We both had m4s. There were no name tags so we couldn't report and lets be honest, Battle Eye is a joke. This isn't the first time I've wanted to report someone only to find that I couldn't get their names. Maybe there is another way that I don't know about to get around this problem. Thoughts, anyone?
