I haven't killed a single player in game yet. I've been in a few situations where I thought I was going to have to resolve to shooting a pair of dudes when I was playing with a friend. We were all armed and they were asking a lot of questions. But everyone left without firing a shot. Although they did ask us to follow them to a river and to my knowledge there weren't any rivers around there... I'm sure I'll kill another player at some point. I've been lucky enough not to encounter that many of them so far.
I agree. The way it is now allows for all players to play as equals. In all the other online games I've played that have dedicated server, something problematic always happens. Clan servers kick me to make room for their clan members or they abuse their powers. The problem in these games is that 90+% of the servers are clan servers. I don't genereally have the time or the energy to put join a clan andstuff like that. Rocket says that hosting DayZ is a service that you are giving to other players. You don't have to do it. But if you do you have to follow his rules. In the end it is his mod and he can do whatever the hell he wants with it.
But it is punishing them. They found a way to survive that includes killing other players. We each have our own methods. This would just make them sitting ducks at spawn. I'm retty sure that people would just kill them on sight knowing that they were a bandit with another char. To me it sounds like an insentive to kill them. I have never killed another player. However I probably would kill someone in an orange jumpsuit on sight.
I like the idea. However, I think that may just move the problem. Imagine that we can't spawn in buildings etc... well people would start logging out as close to the buildings as possible. I might be overthinking it.
