Date/Time: 7/09/12 11:20 PM pst What happened: Put on a ghillie suit. Lost all gear. Where you were: Hills in the west of the map What you were doing: putting on ghillie suit *Current installed version: 1.7.2 *Server(s) you were on: LA 5 *Your system specs: irrelevant *Timeline of events before/after error: I searched for weeks to find a ghillie suit and finally did about a week ago. I stashed it away in my tent for safekeeping until I could find my first sniper rifle to use it with. To my delight, I finally found an m107 today and headed straight to my tent to grab all the necessary supplies and my ghillie suit and head out. Once I had all my supplies carefully organized in my inventory, I equipped my ghillie suit to head out. I began to swim in the ground, heard water, screen flipped out then i was back with only my backpack remaining. everything in my main inventory including my weapons were all gone. I spent probably 40 hours collecting this gear. I searched the area around me endlessly and didnt find anyone. I even knew that I wouldnt be able to log out in the ghillie due to spawning in the ocean, so I knew I would always unequip it before I did. I know never to get attached to my gear in DayZ, I never have. I've died with nvg's gps's FAL's it doesnt matter, I've always kept going. But in this case, I had NO CHANCE to get attached to my gear. I never got to fire my m107. I never got to stalk a survivor in my ghillie. I spent endless hours all for nothing. For the ocean to eat my gear. The ocean in the ground under the tree in front of my tent. I really hope you guys are working on a fix or some sort of compensation for lost gear however unlikely that may be... I see I'm not the only person to experience this. It's exceptionally frustrating and I've had many bugs happen before, yet none which ruined everything I've worked for quite like this has.

I was playing the game less than a minute ago, and lost my way in some plains without a compass or GPS or road or any means of navigation. And I thought to myself, wow, wouldnt it be nice if there were a North Star(Polaris) that I could navigate by? I'm not sure if Polaris would be visible in Chernarus, but they could name it something different! I also have no idea how easy/hard it would be to implement as I am no coder. Any other constellations that could point to it would help as well, i.e. Big Dipper, Little Dipper, etc. Thanks for reading!

I'll keep it short. I only briefly skimmed the other threads so I'm not sure if this has already been suggested. However I believe that Ghillie suits should make you invisible to thermal vision due to the fact that they breakup not only your visible signature in relation to the environment, but your heat signature as well.

I am having the same issues, makes certain areas unplayable.

you see a main rotor assembly for a helicopter and stuff it in your backpack

If you take away snipers from legitimate players, there will be no one to deter the thousands of hackers that will have free reign over all the defenseless people without snipers. Rules are made for those who choose to follow them. Everyone will still be raped by snipers from afar, just now you'd have no chance to fight back. There are already rocket launchers in the game buddy...

UPDATED DAILY: I'm Issuing a Warning to Any Snipers
Brusann replied to ZombieSpecialist's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Someone's a little mad... In two or three months on this game, I've never ever been killed by a sniper in elektro or cherno. I don't understand what the problem is... you basically have to ask to be killed by them. They can only see a small portion of the city at a time from the hills unless they'd like to display themselves for the world to see. -
That was SO funny man. Well done.

To keep it short and sweet, I believe parties should be implemented, probably capped at 10 or so.(debatable) If someone leaves the party, they will still not be able to shoot members of that party for 5 minutes.(debatable) However I realize this may be too carebear-ish, so- As an alternative, customizable armbands/bandanas. Find a piece of cloth in the store and some paint, and create an insignia of your choice so your group doesn't have to constantly have to bark over chat, "WHO'S AT THE FIRESTATION?!?!" Thanks for reading!
-
As i mentioned in the OP, I understand that a party system may not be an option for a game such as DayZ. That's where a bandana or armband would come in handy, as it's completely realistic. You would have to be in visible range, and pretty close to see a design or color on someone's clothing. Either way, thanks for your input!

Please! Add new outfits :D The more worn down the better! Also, everyone knows that in an apocalyptic world, you NEED a trench coat!

Homemade Ghillie suit kits are available in real life, and members of the US military(and I'm sure other militaries as well but I cannot confirm this) make their own ghillie suits with the plant-life in the area they're supposed to be infiltrating. So my idea is this: Players can find fishing nets in marinas, random places near the ocean, and/or in every fishing boat's loot(because they're pretty rare to find in the first place). They can then find some glue(in a market or residential area), fishing line(in the same areas as the nets), strings(in a market, would work the same as fishing line but maybe have less durability), and then have to search the wilderness in dayZ to find specific plants. If you want to be camo'ed in a woodland area, then you must find the specific woodland variety of ghillie suit materials. If you want to blend with the wheat fields, you have to find like-colored plants. Once you find the required materials, (which would be many more than one of the plants) you can combine them to create your ghillie suit. Now these wouldn't be as durable as the ones professionally made out of synthetics(I'm making this up, the new lore would have to be the pre-assembled ones are synthetic) so they would deteriorate over time. Say, maybe after 24 hours of game time.(debatable) I just feel as though this could add to the game slightly, feel free to let me know whether you agree or disagree with the idea, or just don't see a need for it. I welcome all opinions :) Thanks for reading! TL;DR - Players should be able to make ghillie suits out of slightly rare materials they find around Chernarus.

I think that's a great idea

Yesterday I had a sniper with a DMR log in on top of the hospital roof in elektro, probably so he could blow the heads off of innocent new-spawns, where I was gathering medical supplies for myself. I promptly shot him three times with my enfield, which wouldn't have been possible had he been invulnerable. No beans to you sir.

Good idea, maybe you go to a bush when you have your glue and string/net and scroll wheel and click "add woodland leaves" or "add (insert other leaves here)" and it adds it to your ghillie suit, which is then x% complete. Say you add one bush, 10% complete.(debatable) However I don't know if it should be every bush unless the nets or something were more rare, however the rarity would be more of a developer thing.
-
The inventory would be a bit of an unforseen issue, maybe the plants could stack? Or maybe it would just be a sacrifice you'd have to make - to carry less gear in order to get the valuable suit made.
-
I agree that tents should be able to keep you and another survivor warm in a storm or at night or something.
-
It would be so unpopular, because bandits would just come on your roleplaying server and kill you for your phat lewtz because they knew you were less likely to shoot back. They'd become friends with you, walk around for 2 minutes, then open fire when your back was turned. It's an unfortunate truth :( I do agree though, if people actually followed the rules, it'd be awesome. (Or at least if most did! Because without any bandits at all it'd be no fun!)

Hours of work down the drain, yet another glitch FML story and suggestions

There are so many more places than two to find medical supplies... "Your tears, they are delicious!" TL;DR - Less QQ, more pew pew. -
I'm new.... AND MY CHARACTER IS STARVING!
Brusann replied to arched123's topic in New Player Discussion
As many have said, residential buildings or supermarkets are your best bet. -
Hackers detract so highly from the game, I honestly don't get what's in it for them. If I got a gun illegitimately I wouldn't really feel like I accomplished ANYTHING killing someone with it.

Deer stands tend to be empty whenever I check them, I've been playing over two months and I never find anything worthwhile in them, occasionally an AK-47 or some m107 mags, but that's about it. Most of the time there's nothing, and I've began to wonder: Am I doing something wrong?

If Rocket Didn't Push Out The Patch, Surely There's Some Way He Can Un-nerf/Reason With The Devs.
Brusann replied to Chewbacca Jesus's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think that the damage nerfs are stupid. .45 caliber weapon destroys human tissue... that's why many members of the special forces choose to use the m1911 as a sidearm. You dont want to have to worry about them getting back up after one shot... and they dont! -
Hijacked A UAZ From 3 Guys (Only 1 Fatality)
Brusann replied to chibigoat's topic in DayZ Mod Gallery
beans to you sir -
To Tyler and Cameron, and their third clanmate, sitting in between cherno and elektro with your two vehicles and l33t loot, the joy ride in your UAZ was awesome! The only weapon I had was an m1911 and 4 mags, and I took out two of you and stole your UAZ in the process :D I knew I shouldnt have gone back for the pickup truck sitting there, however it was too tempting to pass up. Too bad your guy with the DMR and nvg's raped me on the way back! If only I had had a rifle... how different things may have been. Pro tip: don't sit a kilometer from cherno with the headlights of your vehicle on, SITTING in the headlights chillin next to eachother. Chatting on voip too. The WTF?!!? was priceless! Your tears, they are delicious!! EDIT: So I went and ate dinner, CAME BACK! And decided I'd go check if the UAZ was still where I hid it, to my delight, it was!! I drove it away and hid it somewhere safer, and then went back to the spot where the original two vehicles were! Some guy was standing there, and he was apparently AFK, with a dmr, nvg's and tons of mags! I rolled up to him to not make any noise as I was unarmed and wanted to search his pack for a weapon to kill him with! He had nothing, and I saw an industrial shed in the distance. I prayed, literally prayed for a hatchet. THERE WAS A HATCHET GISDGLJDSLFGHL. Anyway, I grabbed it, ran back, owned him!! Then stole his stuff and tried to get in the truck but I couldnt for some reason. Oh well, it seemed to be broken which is why they never moved it I guess, but this was just crazy :D
