I'm having a difficult time trying to load into the server. I've located it, but when I join I'm greeted with "Bad version, server rejected connection". I'm running beta OA version 100296 and DayZ version 1.7.4.4 so I don't see an issue. Sorry I'm new to private hives so maybe I'm missing something?

I played for a little over three months and I never had that happen more than twice.. How are you getting around? *edit: I seriously doubt they're going to add some restricting mechanic into the game. Rocket wants the game as organic as possible, and making you feel artificially safer is going against that in a multitude of ways.

We don't have much information on new loot or vehicles but if they decide that the additions to the mod are sufficiently balanced they may take some of the already implemented weapons from there to the SA, but apart from that all we've heard is Rocket's goal of wanting to add more low-tier and melee weapons into the game. As for more cities Rocket has said that they had a guy working on new areas since November. (?) There may not be more big buildings but what there will be are more enterable buildings, which means that previous 'big buildings' that were not enterable before may be now. We haven't heard anything about expanding the area, although it's quite possible due the addition of new areas on the map, and the goal to up the player count.

To be fair, if we're capable of repairing a helicopter... I think if they were to introduce a train and rails system into the game the map would need to be a lot larger then it is now, and maybe even have cities in the northern and western areas' so that there would be a purpose for using it to transport people/goods. Would make for interesting youtube videos on clan-established servers. "Group of friends satchel carges cargo train".

That's a pretty bold assumption considering it has no basing on this community. I think there would be the initial disappointment (of course) but a lot of people would grow to accept it and at least we would have an idea. There would be those who follow your assumption, as there always will be but I don't think the majority would.

Yea I gotta agree. Although it would create new random hotspots around the map, it's one of the most potent loot spawns in the game and almost always guarantees a nice weapon so it should be hard to find. Not to mention it kind of goes against the 'natural' dynamic that Rocket is aiming for. Things automatically popping on the map is kind of a step in the wrong direction.

If I had to take a guess it's probably because it's a baseless attack on the company that is funding this game?

Difference hive. It's a completely different 'game'. Think of it like a massive game changing patch - what does Rocket do after those kinds of patches? (see the pistol spawn change for example)... he wipes the hive and starts over. *if by different hive you mean your characters won't carry over from DayZ mod that is. I'm not sure if they'll be using the same server.

Of course everybody is waiting eagerly for information, it's just some people like to play the "Look at me, I'm so mature, I have patience and play devils advocate just to reassure myself." card. Actually kind of getting tired of reading the "LEAVE DEAN ALONE!!!, HE'S STRESSED AND HE NEEEEEDS OUUURS HELLLLLP. STOP ASKING FOR INFORMATION!!" defense posts. He's a 31 year old with a military background - he's a big boy, he'll survive..

In all honesty, I don't think vehicle parts of any kind should be transferable between servers because there is not much need to do such a thing unless you're doing what the OP suggests, or to a lesser extent to cars. Nobody actively carries around those things on a regular basis... and if you leave the server with it on you and return to the same server without joining another first you should retain those parts.

Seeing the contrast between the low-res and high-res textures that became avaliable after the latest expansion for Arma 2, it would be nice to know if these textures will be avaliable to the standalone purchasers? Link any info if you've got it.

Yea I gotta admit that I've been playing since DayZ was practically new and played for months. Loved the gameplay and it is beyond addicting but the amount of scripting crap going on in the last month and a half has caused me to not even OPEN the game since late July. It's too bad but its expected too. Just waiting for Standalone!

Can someone kindly explain to me how the title makes any sense? I think this guy just looked for words that were synonymous with 'joke' and didn't actually understand how and why this game is a 'parody' of anything...

I've been getting this issue like CRAZY in stary sobor and the 3 main cities. It covers more than half the screen and has gotten me killed 3 times now because I Can't see infront of me. Very irritating.

I see 1.7.2.4 hasn't fixed the absolutely atrocious load times caused by 1.7.2.3. Man that's really disappointing. Not only could we not do the 5 second disconnect delay but the other major problem wasn't fixed either =(

I tend to bounce around the place looking for something to get my heart goin. pretty much strictly PVP. Sometimes I'll go look for crash sites and vehicles but for the most part the PvE portion of the game and survival itself is a complete joke. Once you know how to play the game properly it's pretty trivial to do anything but survive against the REAL threat. Because it's the only place on the entire map that has military mess halls, which have the highest chance of dropping high tier items.

they did remove it from the game but I don't know if they disappear if you already have one.

You, sir, need to remember that in every aspect of life there is ALWAYS grey between every seemingly back and white situation. Murder is wrong, stealing is wrong, cheating is wrong, but you ask society how they feel about murdering pedophiles, stealing from drug dealers or cheating scammers out of money and you're not going to get the same response as if you asked them about murdering middle class mothers or stealing from those who struggle to make a living. There are always exceptions depending on perspective. I feel this is one of those exceptions.

Do yourself a favor and get used to using the mousewheel to swap. F is great when all you've got is a primary and secondary but if you have Smoke, a grenade, an assault rifle with two firing modes AND a pistol.. you're going to have a hell of a time spamming F.
