From experience the DayZcommander crash may be caused by .net framework issues. Download it here: http://www.microsoft...s.aspx?id=17718 and install it. If it asks you to repair (which means its already installed) repair it, then see if you get the DayZcommander error again. Edit: Arma 2 error may be caused by a bad BEclient.dll. To fix this navigate your way to your computers equivalent of E:\Users\Admin\AppData\Local\ArmA 2 OA\BattlEye where 'Admin' is your main user login. Delete your BEclient.dll and replace it with a new one found here: http://www.battleye.com/download.html. Restart steam and try to get into your server again. Let me know. If you don't see AppData you can click on the 'Organize' tab at the top-ish of your window and go to Folder and Search Options. From there go to the 'View' tab and under 'Advanced settings' find the 'Hidden Files and Folders' option. Make sure you click the 'show hidden files and folders' button and save and exit. You should see it under your user folder now. Have you tried manually joining a server AND using DayZcommander or only through the app?

So your game opens, and you can view the server browser (not the DayZ commander one but the actual game one) but when you try and join a server it starts responding? Check your event log ( that I posted above) and see if there is an error for the response issue.. and post it here. ** could a mod move this thread to Troubleshooting so we aren't stuck at the top of general discussions? thanks!

Looking... will edit post with anything I get. Edit: 1. exit STEAM client 2. start STEAM client via 'run as Administrator' 3. select A2: OA in games list by left mouse button 4. right mouse button > menu > choose 'Properties' 5. chooce 'Local Files' tab 6. choose 'Verify Integrity File Cache' 7. wait till it's done and try run game again (I know you've done this before but try again, following the steps). Let me know.

I think 3D vs 2D is a trivial aesthetic change unless he plans on having the added variables attached to equipment actually have a visual difference on the item itself.

I assume you're running an anti-virus other than Windows Defender? List it if you are. ex. AVG, Norton etc. You also mentioned you just got the computer you're using right now? In that case do you know anything about the hardware? I'm wondering if you're capable of removing ram. edit: First thing you can try though is disabling windows defender. Go to Start and Search Windows Defender. When it's opened click 'Tools' and under that click 'Options'. Under the 'Administration Options' tab there should be a checkbox under 'Use Windows Defender'. Click it off and save/close the box. Restart your computer and then try and run Arma again. Let me know how that goes.

I may be able to help, depending on the error. Right Click on My Computer and go to 'Manage'. When that opens you should see a few things on the left side, one of them labeled 'Event Viewer' - click the > on the left of the label and open 'Windows Logs'. Double click on 'Application' label that you should see in your middle window, which should open up a list of informations, warnings and errors. If you can sort through that list and find me the error specific to Arma II (which should be labelled as a warning or an error) and copy + paste the error log found in the box below I may be able to assist you.

You're favorate weapon in DayZ?
Cdrive replied to TruckingBucket's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The M107 is by far my favourite weapon... Not because it is anything special in terms of fire power or look but because of the sound that it makes. You can hear gunfire until the cows come home and not feel especially threatened depending on how well you're geared but once the thunder-cracking sound of the M107 is heard FEAR is delivered express post right to your doorstep. -
Winning fights where you have big disadvantages.

I was talking about bandwidth usage caps, not speeds. Speeds are a non-issue for most. Sorry for the confusion. And yes, sorry for the off-topic.. again. -

Cdrive replied to khaenz's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It actually is hard to do, since your two options consist of Fraps (or any video capture) and stream capturing through twitch. At even semi-decent resolutions you're looking at hundreds of gigs of information being stored on a drive just to have a chance of capturing something, OR gigs of bandwidth - which if you're not living in the US N'A is not very viable as most of us have bandwidth caps of some sort or another. So yea, it's easy to do.. if you've got the resources to do it. -
They did a couple months ago, not sure if things have changed since then though.

Will the method for setting up stand alone servers differ from the mod servers?
Cdrive replied to rossasaur's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It will probably differ in the setup, since the entire architecture of the game and information control has changed. How much so remains to be seen, or answered. -
To quote Dean: "As long as it needs!"
-
Pretty much... but I think it's more of a test of the game's systems integrity than an actual playtest.

Then steal a vehicle :) ;) No feeling like loading a windshield up with Fal rounds.. crushing your enemies, see them driven before you, and hearing the lamentation of their women.

If I'm correct in my assumption, the entire point of the term 'standalone' in DayZ is because it will.. stand alone apart from Arma. The only thing that DayZ will be using is the engine, which is completely seperate from the game itself and is similar to comparing Batman Arkham City to Borderlands, which both use the Unreal 3 engine but looks, feels and plays completely different from one another - hence why Rocket coined the term Arma 2.5 engine. TLDR: It will not matter if you can't run one or another, because it will be a different game all together.

Maybe it's just preference from my Socom days but I feel like third person gives you a better overall feel for the game, and your position in it. A great example is in real life if you're hiding in a tree you can look behind you to check to see if everything is covered, but in first person dayz it is damn-near impossible to make sure without third person. Just one example out of many I guess.
-
It may run better simply because it's a better optimization of the engine, but in terms of pure processing power the only thing that is going to have less of a load is the CPU.. the graphics won't improve and if anything they will improve - putting extra strain on the video card.

"@rocket2guns Well, I'm actually expecting the standalone to be released mid-April, around 1 year after the mod release." Rocket - "Well I sure hope its before that.... I'll be on my way to Mt Everest from 1 April - 1 June :) So that's a good clue" With that being said.. I somehow doubt he would put a two month hold on DayZ development considering what he plans to release is still an 'alpha'.

You have to keep in mind that while we won't have new cities or towns, we will have a slew of new enterable buildings.. how many of them will actually be enterable remains to be seen but I feel like that alone will add a whole new dynamic to the game that we haven't yet seen. Smaller, previously (mostly) useless towns will become hubs of possibilities for low-tier players due to the item spawn possibilities being much higher. That change will not only open up the map more than it already is but the functionality will promote more players to venture past the 6 main hubs you see today... With that I hope to see a higher player cap since players will be more spread out as well.

Its up. (the blog post)

Not sure if anybody saw it but Rocket said the SA will be out before the end of March, because he's going to Everest April 1st.

This is probably my best Dayz hunt I've ever had in my 2 1/2 months of playing, and I just had to share it because frankly I felt like fucking John McClane or some shit. The Meeting So I load up and spawn in Kamenka and it takes everything in me to not just respawn and hope for something closer. "At least I can take a pit stop at Bolota" trying to ever-convince myself this wasn't a stupid idea. As I'm running up the hill to avoid any roadwalkers or vehicles I spot 4 survivors moving as a tight squad. As soon as I saw those 4 all I could think about was "I'm going to kill them all" even though all I had on me was a bandage, some painkillers and a flashlight.. I was determined. So I began to stalk them through the fields, taking a knee behind every tree and wall I could just to keep my distance but know where they are. I can hear faint radio chatter as they make their way to bolota, so I try to listen in as I'm assessing their weapon situation. 1 Makarov, 1 Double-barrel shotgun, 1 M4A1 SD, and a sniper of sorts.. most likely a CZ - quite the ragtag bunch of guns I know, but a threat none the less. The Action So I stalk these guys all the way to the bolota comms tower, where I waited in the coniferous trees just past the perimeter fence, keeping a close eye on the roof of the tower making sure I still count four targets. I hear three shots go off and then complete silence.. zombies I assumed. I see two disappear out of the bottom of the tower setting barbed wire at the entrance so I decided now would be a good time to sneak my way into the bushes just beside the ladder and listen in on radio chatter. "gonna go check hangers" the guys on the ground say as I hear their footsteps getting more and more distant. not 10 seconds later I hear someone coming down the ladder... at this point my heart is pounding so hard in my chest I can hear every beat. Finally reaching the bottom of the ladder I see him booking it towards the military camps through the bushes. As soon as I didn't hear any footsteps I figure this is my only chance to do anything, so I start climbing the ladder just praying that he wouldn't hear me coming. Lets face it, just getting up the ladder without anybody hearing is one thing, but for me to get all the way up.. get behind him AND hope he has something in his bag worth stealing - tough chance, but fuck it. So I get to the top and I see him to my right seeing the guy heading to the military camps off, and right ahead of me is a dead survivor with... AN AXE!. I rush towards the guy and take cover below the glass, fumbling through the clanky interfacing hoping I grab the axe fast enough. I see this guy walking towards the ladder close to me so I start rolling away to the opposite side while I'm still 'loading' my axe. He starts turning every which way to try and .. what I could only assume is an attempt to climb down the ladder. I've got no idea where his air hanger buddies are but I didn't have any other choice so I got up while he was facing the ladder and four...five swings later he's down on the ground, nearly hitting me with his stupid DB shotgun. "What the fuck, dude are you dead!?" is all I heard on the mics as I literally have a heart attack trying to loot what I could.. which.. lucky me.. was his DB shotgun with.. you guessed it - ONE SHELL LEFT. Not one clip.. not two shots... ONE shot. Fuck me right?. So I'm freaking out because I know I got two guys running to my location, but lucky for me they thought they had the front entrance completely barbed up so all they did was watch the ladder for about... 5 minutes. I'm sweating bullets at this point because basically if I miss I'm dead, and if I try to go through the front entrance as their climbing down the ladder and I'm wrong about their barbed wire job... I'm stuck.. and you guessed it, dead. Nothing I could do right? So I book it down the stairs and try to get through the barbed wire.. *clang clang clang*. All I could hear is someone climbing the ladder. I try every which way to get through it and finally glitched out through the railing and onto the other side. took me a good quarter of a second to get behind the first hanger because any longer and I woulda probably pissed myself. So I sit and wait, again listening to radio chatter. "This dude is a fucking ghost" "you sure no hacker man?" "alt f4?" "nah man nah I heard him below us". At this point I see two guys circling the tower counter clockwise and they stop at the front entrance to see if I was still there. One of them goes prone maybe 10 feet from the entrance while the other one goes to cover the ladder. I still have no clue where the hell their sniper is, but I didn't even think about it at the time, all I knew is I had one shot and it was game over. I wait 10 seconds to make sure he's not gunna spin around and see me and then I rush at him and put the only shot I got directly into his back. Thank god for 1 shot double barrel rounds is all I got to say because he only managed to get a single shot off at me before dying, unfortunately making me bleed. I quickly stole his makarov and ran around to my regular hiding spot behind the hanger as I waited for the other one to come around. I see that I'm bleeding but I have no clue when someone is coming around the corner so I'm pretty damn scared to do anything but ready my gun. I bleed all the way down to 8700 health where I then wedge myself between the support arch and the hanger itself and bandage. At that very second the guy with the M4A1 comes rushing out thinking I may have ran into the forest behind bolota... another beautiful opportunity. I take one shot... missed completely - he turns around to face me ready to shoot and I put 4 right into his face. Server lag let him squeeze off a round, conveniently hitting my leg and breaking it. I'm down, no morphine, no time, 3 makarov shots and a fresh clip and 1 guy left. Sweating bullets. I know at this point that the sniper has to be close, and crawling all the way to the guys body would be suicide, so I start rolling towards the space between the two hangers and there he was.. like a deer in headlights ..completely frozen. I took hasty aim with my shaky hands and.... put two into his lower abdomen and missed one. "OH FUCK" is all that was going through my head as I tried reloading.. watching this sniper aim directly at me. Seconds felt like minutes as I watched what felt like the slowest reloading animation ever. *BOOM* a shot goes off.. right into my head... the end of my epic unarmed massacre at Bolota. The whole thing from beginning to end took about an hour, so you can imagine the amount of time between events here. Pretty scary!

But alas..
