FYI, those damage modifications are more realistic when you are shooting targets with combat armour, but not really zombies. AFAIK arma is treating everyone (except civilians) with the same damage model but different hitpoint values. Armour as separate gear is Arma 3 feature. Logical solution to this is decreasing zombie hitpoints, that should solve it basically. -

I think that its pretty much obvious that DayZ(name, or parts of it) either belong to BI(this is what game companies do) or it was sold/licensed/agreed some time ago. They are already quite involved, they are paying people (rocket&friends) for its development and contributing stuff. Of course they/he want to show it off, it became source of revenue and later they will be investing into it quite much more. Rocket has just moved to CZ(which confirms DayZ as long-term thing) and now hes at UK, so I doubt he has time to code stuff. If you don't like BI involvement then its too bad, they are quite community friendly company, and if you want DayZ as a game remember that you need more than 1 guy working in his spare time. Remember that he agreed with whatever they ageed on. About Rezzed, theres been so little info from it, its nothing like E3, hopefully later. -

If you are using beta you might be launching it without dayz mod folder because it is another exe file, find "Launch Arma2 OA Beta Patch" in your game folder, copy it on the desktop, and add -mod=@dayz at the end, that should be all, also when you run the game you can see versions in the bottom right corner, (new beta is 1.60.93701) and @dayz should be in the top right corner -

Melee definitely possible, zombies use melee. Its not in Arma for for 2 reasons: BI do not likes it, animations would suck because Arma 2 animation system is good only for playing animation after another animation, head (turning) and hands (weapon holding, reloading) are exceptions. Btw. there were lightsabers in Operation Flashpoint but you couldn't move while attacking (you had to wait for animation to finish to move) and it was crappy, just fun stuff. I would like some weak melee attack, just for fun, its a bit unrealistic now. -

What they mean is that it will be included within installation so newbs won't tear their hair out. They are most likely not going to fix stuff like physics, ladders, AI pathfinding etc, these are engine inherent deep problems, maybe smaller stuff, netcode etc. -

Never going to happen. DayZ is composed of 95% Arma 2 + expansions. The rest is unique character persistence and syncing, custom animations, several new weapons and models and sounds, spawn scripts etc. Everything else is Arma engine and content - Chernarus, weapons, vehicles etc... Engine it is unique because it handles and syncs thousands of objects and hundreds of players/AI. Everything works with AI and MP. Engine was never designed for this kind of stuff, and yes, even old Arma players are sick of it. Look up info about Arma3, it should fix lots of crap, and feature lot of new, and DayZ will almost surely be ported.
