    Man...I hope there are tuxedos in the SA...And tweed jackets with leather patches on the elbows...and monocles...and bowler hats... It's going to be ridiculous trying to get a copy of the game at launch, is what you are saying... We few, we happy few, we band of brothers...

    Has it been confirmed that sick players will cough, vomit etc. at inopportune, times meaning that their position could be compromised by their state of health?

    I want there to be so many zombies that people have to think very carefully before shooting any kind of weapon (that isn't the crossbow, or silenced). The dinner bell effect should be huge in the stand alone, so that if you shoot someone (or something) in a city or whatever, you end up surrounded by every zombie within realistic ear-shot. The ones furthest away shambling in towards the sound, and the ones closest running towards it, from all directions. Make it so that if you are lone wolfing it and a murderous bastard, or just careless, you basically have zero chance of survival because you don't have anyone covering your back. At the very least, you should only survive by the skin of your teeth. Of course, I am only saying all of this because the gameplay I enjoy the most is being a sneaky, pacifist (yet heavily armed) bastard that voyeuristically stalks potential threats to my survival from afar... Either that or staging ridiculous zombie stand offs with a group of friends, mostly just for the hell of it...Sometimes for beans or a tin of coke...lol

    I used Banidcam to capture footage of DayZ and it worked great with the VBR MPEG-2 codec. Very little performance hit.

    Does anyone know if there is any work being done to try and solve the pop-in issues with the Arma 2 engine folliage? It's not a huge thing, but it can be kind of immersion breaking. Also, will infected stumble, trip and fall over objects like chairs, tables, fences and player bodies? And on that note, will collision detection be improved for both players and infected? I mean, I'm gonna assume that infected won't be able to walk/attack through walls and other solid objects in the SA, so I guess collision detection will be improved, right?

    Here's a thought...Maybe they are too busy making the game to painstakingly edit a video for supposed video editing aficionados like yourself...At the end of the day, they don't have any obligation to release these videos at all. Wind your neck in.

    You need to be able to abort certain animations...I have been killed while gutting an animal before. Totally unable to stop what I was going and powerless to react... Also, trying to go prone and your character suddenly runs forward and sort of dives into prone...while you are on a roof...You see it happening, you desperately try to pull back, but you can do nothing but watch as your survivor dives face first off the top of an apartment building...lol :/

This happening yesterday made me think that this could be a cool origin story for DayZ...A meteor explodes in the atmosphere and some form of alien bacterial infection that effects cognitive functioning is released into the air... Although, contaminated meat illegally put into the food chain could also be a more down to earth origin...Still culturally relevant at the moment.
  18. How about this then? :D I actually think I heard another game is using this as their premise, can't remember which upcoming game though... A form of BSE (mad cow disease) could be very plausible, but I think that was the premise from ZombieLand, but still a good one.

    Agreed. If it was one or the other, I'd have to say lock it to 1st person as 3rd person does give an awareness advantage...but then again, 1st person allows you to move your head and increase FoV... Ideally the choice of both, determined by the server would be best. The only issue with 3rd person is that it allows you to see around corners, or over walls etc. It's completely a PvP issue, but for those of us that don't shoot on sight and aren't bandits, it's not so much of an issue. I guess it would let us avoid being spotted by people that do kill on sight and are bandits...if you could argue that that was an unfair advantage, given that we are already at an extreme disadvantage from a survival point of view... So yeah, probably best to have the option for both and leave it up to the server admins. There are quite distinct, different play styles that both 3rd and 1st person cater to I guess. It isn't entirely clear cut.

    Damn...I hope there will still be servers that allow 3rd-1st person switching...I liked travelling in 3rd person and switching to 1st person iron sights with a right-click when aiming. Does this mean that this way of playing won't work any more?

    Ah...Make love, not warcraft...That episode saved me from ever trying WoW as I learnt everything I needed to know about it from Southpark. Also, all of these changes sound great, but they also make the standalone seem very far off in the distance...
