Lenovo make solid, affordable, gaming capable laptops. I bought one more or less to spoil myself and to have a decently powered machine for when on the move. What I got was a portable desktop rival. Once I have the money to put an mSata SSD in it, it may even surpass my desktop system as a general machine. The desktop should be getting a new GPU soon enough, so it will always be the main gaming rig.

Nah, I got a really nice Lenovo Y500 with a core i7 3630QM and a GT650 2GB and 8GB of DDR3 RAM, and it is a hell of a lot cheaper than an Alienware, and is a decent gaming laptop from what I have tested on it. Very respectable performance.

You know what...I actually really enjoyed playing on lower populated servers (like 15-20) and it actually made encounters much less predictable...(it also made the experience more or less completely hacker free!) That's how I learnt to be a ninja and stay out of sight, observing people that would never even know I was there...Or that I could have put a bullet in their brain if I had wanted to. The thought that there were other people playing the game in a similar way made it all the more enjoyable. Encounters were tense, but I would always do my best to help anyone in need, like giving morphine and blood, or even donating a gun here and there to total strangers...Rewarding stuff.

The video didn't really show much...From what it did show though... Not really sure why there was only one infected model. Or so few infected in general. The Sun glare is a bit much. Other than that it looked totally playable.

They added Physx to Arma 3...Maybe they could do the same for DayZ. On my HD 5850 and i5 2500K I can run with CPU based PhysX on normal in games that use it.
-
I was wondering if the addition of ragdolls would enable more realistic physics on objects in general. That would make a huge difference.

Will we be able to grow post apocalyptic cannabis plantations...For it's medicinal value, of course ;)
-
Will there be a Rambo knife in this game that has a compass on the bottom of the handle, and the handle screws off where you can access shit for sewing up your bullet wounds like a complete bad ass...? Make it a super rare weapon and include a red headband.

I think that I have solved their server issues...They are running the server on a Spectrum 48k... No, but seriously...I was surprised that the engine only really uses one CPU core, and that the server CPU only uses a single core...

What's the craic lads? I told you I had a good feeling about Thursday...Not a bad day really, all things considered. I watched this video and it made me super nostalgic. The role playing in this game is just unparalleled, because you are basically just playing yourself and how you would react...and because there are so many people that are kind of mindless, and have no control over their reactions...And then there are people that actively derive joy from other people's suffering....It's a heady mix. http://youtu.be/NeCK823BArc

"Today we have a homework assignment...I want you to go out and start a fight with a complete stranger." "But that happens every time I go out these days..."

Lol...I think that an awful lot of people that are old enough to know better are experts at sulking like little children when their unrealistic expectations are not met. When the SA comes out, as soon as they hear how great it is they will all jump back on the band wagon as if they never said such horrible things about it etc. Of course, it could be a complete turd of a game and then we will all have to listen to their insufferable gloating...So hopefully it will be great.

Man...I am gonna start a post apocalyptic thing that I mustn't talk about...

Man, when I got my first CZ 550 and a macarov I thought that I was sorted. I decided to go deep into the map for the first time to explore, keeping to the tree line and out of sight of anyone or anything... I came out somewhere inland at a big barn and approached it thinking it might have some good loot (they NEVER had any good loot!)... Prone, narrowly avoiding all of the zombies in the area, a fucking military Humvee comes bailing out of the forest and plows through the zombies, narrowly missing me...It was fucking mental. :D

Who else here played the mod as a true survivor? Where killing and dying really felt like it meant something, ye know? How long did you manage to survive? I survived something like 3 weeks, at one point my best friend and I were basically blind, navigating the country side, looking for a sheep to murder to get our blood back up a bit...And eventually finding a goat, killed, and cooked it and replenished our health a bit. He died shortly afterwards from infected and I lived on for another week or two...I was murdered by a complete bastard while I was fiddling in my inventory. lol Which makes me wonder....Will there be a scar system in the game where veteran characters have bullet wounds, get scars, grow beards over time etc? Has this been brought up ever?

Guys...I have a really good feeling about this Thursday. Not because DayZ will come out or anything...I just think it is gonna be a nice day :)
-
But can it be used to cut down trees and carve the occasional ice sculpture??
-
Hey, have you guys heard about this survival game called DayZ that is meant to be coming out soon?
-
I think Valve should give Rocket the zombie AI, animations and path finding from Left4Dead...
-
It won't be released this year...Keep that in mind and if it comes out you will be pleasantly surprised. :P
-
It only took them a year...To discover probably the biggest issue that the mod had...How encouraging...
-
Yeah, he may play the reverse hype-ism card...But he has underestimated our resolve...We stare down the release with the LSD infused 1000 yard stare of an emotionally tortured madman in the depths of a jungle...Sweat dripping from their brow as they stroke their gun like it was their only friend...
-
This is probably reverse hype-ism...Get as many people as hyped as possible, then don't release it...Royally piss off all of the susceptible people....Then release it a bit later while said susceptible people are still having a good old huff to lessen the server load... Genius really...lol
-
Nuh uhhhh...It is MP also. ;)

Batman AO released on Steam on a Thursday at midnight UK time....Just saying... *whistles innocently* PS. and it wasn't like they gave a fuck whether they released a buggy, broken mess of a game just before the weekend... :P
