  1. Deleting local content through steam and reinstalling does not solve this issue either... I will try it on my laptop and see if this bug is actually tied to the cloud somehow...bizarre.
  2. Unfortunately all that did was delete my character (but I was able restore them)... I'm trying a full reinstall to see if that helps...but if it is somehow tied to the hive, I am screwed until they roll out a fix...

    DayZ standalone and Windows 8 compatibility

    Yeah. I tried it on my Windows 8 laptop (GT 650m) and it was running surprisingly well.
  4. It is asking me for a login, but won't let me log in with my forum login...What's up with that? Basically...I started DayZ with my xbox controller plugged in after playing some Batman. It then refused to acknowledge my mouse (actually I discovered that it just made the mouse cursor invisible and only updates it's location on the screen when I left-click)... So, I unplugged the controller, and started DayZ again...The issue has persisted. I closed the game down again, restarted steam and DayZ and the issue is still persistent... Anyone any idea how to fix this? Can mods move this bug to the bug forum that I am not allowed access to for some reason? Cheers!

    Server Owners get nothing????

    Given that most people (everywhere) are playing in the evening or at night, the fact that it is pitch black every time I have had a chance to play, on every server I have tried, is kind of stupid... So basically...Only children, and adults with nothing to do during the day can play on day time servers...

I quite liked low population servers in the mod...15-20 was a good number, mainly because it made encounters much less likely and more tense, and people were a lot less likely to kill on sight...Also, the hackers generally went to the most popular servers. With 50 players, you were pretty much guaranteed to run into murderous assholes anywhere where there might be some decent gear and encounters were almost always fatal...I have no reason to believe that this mentality will be any different in the SA, unfortunately.
  11. In DayZ it is not 'survival or the fittest'...It is 'survival of the shittest'...Or 'survival of the shitfest'... I really hope that survival is the core experience of the SA. The most fun I had in the mod was being lost, with greyed out, blurry vision, very little blood...My best friend with the same, but with about 200 blood...He kept passing out, neither of us could see shit, but we were desperately roaming the country side looking for a sheep to kill, cook and eat...It was hilarious and tortourous, but we were both determined to survive... And we did! I survived for a further 3 weeks until some ballbag shot me for no reason while I was in a house near Zelenogorsk, checking my inventory.

I think everyone that posts in, and religiously checks this (and the other round up threads) on a daily basis should get an alpha invite...And all the streamers and folks from reddit shouldn't get them because that seems totally fair, right? I am not biased in any way, shape, or form...Nope. Not at all....

Pretend that a mask collector bought them on ebay...Pretend that there is a local fancy dress store...Pretend that they ordered the from fanyclownmasks.com...Pretend they got them from any number of online retailers and that before the apocalypse, the mail system worked fine...Pretend that they got them with a payday 2 collectors edition... Are you really getting worked up over the inclusion of a clown mask? I mean...Really? I would like to beat someone to death with an xbox or playstation though...TVs and PCs and the like could easily be added into the game as aesthetic pieces, but holy fuck...They aren't exactly essential right now, are they?

    I am starting to think that the Rocket is far too attached to the 'fast zombies' idea...Slower zombies, in greater numbers, with more lethality might be preferable. I don't want to seem harsh, but I have kind of lost faith in them being able to make the fast moving zombies any good...

    So...1000 server side infected per server doesn't seem like many at all, and in the video they seemed like there were hardly any around. Has there been talk of having a mix of client side and server side spawning? Client side spawning of infected was fine. It just needed to be tweaked so that they don't spawn right in front of you, out of thin air. Couldn't they tweak it so that infected could only spawn when there was no line of side with any human players, similar to how it works with special infected in l4d?

    The sad fact is this...Many, many PC games (too many to list) are released in a completely broken state that aren't labelled as 'early access' or 'alpha/beta build'...So many that it has become almost the norm for devs to release unacceptably broken pieces of crap on the PC with next to no post release support. Essentially, early access has given PC devs a way to release their games in an unoptimised state, with an actual promise that they are going to address the issues. Many of the big publishers just push out a giant turd, rake in as many pre-order sales as they can, maybe release one patch and call it a day... More and more games are being fixed by the gamers themselves these days, which is both awesome and ridiculous at the same time. All I expect from the DayZ SA is something a bit more polished and less broken than the mod is/was. They can keep fixing things and adding more content as they go, as long as it is basically stable and playable as a survival sim I am good to go.

    If client side performance is good, then why don't they have some of the zeds spawn serverside, and some spawn clientside based on relative proximity (as in, not spawning out of thin air in front of you)? 1000 serverside ones seems a bit low....

    I had this problem for a long time, and sometimes still do...I struggle through playing my backlogged steam games half the time because the games just seem crap now.
