I know this has probably been asked a lot, but I searched for a thread and nothing came up. What are the reasons behind not being able to have more than one survivor on the go at a time? I play with friends, but when we can't play together, I would like another character that I can play with on my own, so that I can carry on with my friends when we get the chance, without splitting up. I have heard people throwing around the idea that people would farm etc. but would this really be as big an issue as people are making it out to be? People farm servers and use exploits anyway...That is never going to stop (unless something changes in the game). Is it not more reasonable to assume that the reason we can't do it currently is because the hive server currently can't cope with everyone having 1 profile, never mind 2? Have the devs given a definitive answer on this feature? It just seems like an unnecessary limitation to me (if it isn't a limitation of the current hive servers).

Seriously What The Hell!!!!

Here's how to survive... When you see a big group that you don't know. Hide. When you see a small group that you don't know. Hide. When you see one person that you don't know, randomly scavenging on their own. Hide. If you are an asshole, shoot them in the back without them even knowing you are there. -
If they were used in game, they wouldn't be played one after the other in such short succession, it's just a rough demonstration. Cheers!

Well... Rocket, if you happen to read this (or if someone can forward it to him) and you think that this music would be good in the mod, or in the stand alone game, please, do get in touch. :) I will make another batch and see if I can generate a bit more interest and go from there.

Cheers meshcarver! It's not really lack of confidence, it's just that I am new to the whole soundtrack creation thing and it's hard to get any recognition these days! haha I'm more looking feedback than anything, so that I know I am on the right track and that it is worth investing the time into. :) *edit* I would contact rocket, but there is no way to do that on the forums...Contact info is empty as he is probably trying to avoid crashing any more servers... :P

I was thinking yesterday, as I was travelling through the woods in-game that being able to pick berries, apples etc. would be a nice addition to the game. Also, having harvest-able veggies in some gardens would be great.

So, still uploading videos. Still alive too! So just documenting this current life at the moment, but starting to cut down the recording to only really include the action, as opposed to travelling about. -
I think there needs to be more emphasis on survival techniques. Introducing elements like survival bush craft etc. would not only deepen the gameplay, it would be educational and have real world, practical benefits.

You reckon this music is better? Or it needs better music than this? :P

Cheers! Yeah, I was thinking that music and sound could be a good audio indicator of the presence of danger...So say a murderer is about, a subtle, creepy piece could be triggered when you get, or they get close enough. Other pieces could be triggered by various situations like chopper crashes, industrial areas, forests, etc.

Cheers for the reply! Yeah, point taken. :) I just wish there was a bit more consistency with the beta version that servers are running. Everything was grand with everyone running the 94876 patch until about 5 days ago, then Six launcher starting pushing a new patch onto their users every day since. Unfortunately, it has completely fragmented the available servers. Keep up the great work! Add more survival elements into the game please, like bush craft! Watch Ray Mears and take as many ideas from his survival programs as you can! :D

Rocket, any chance that we can get all the servers running the same freaking beta update? Can you stop Six launcher from pushing every freaking beta update on their users? It's making finding a working server a nightmare. Cheers!

I see a potentially huge problem with this update... 1. Currently, a lot of servers incorrectly state their timezone, more than accurately state it. 2. A lot of servers are very unstable and give me 5fps. To fix the first issue, would it be possible to add information in the server browser (or even the lobby) that told us the correct time within a server? To fix the second issue...I don't even understand why this happens to be honest. It seems completely random to me. It usually takes my friends and myself a few goes to find a server that is correctly advertising the time and isn't really unstable.

My biggest pet hate in this game is that I can only play in the evenings, which means trying to find a server in the US that won't kick me for having too high a ping. What ends up happening is that basically everyone in the UK and Europe is trying to play on US servers as soon as it becomes night, and probably vice versa for the people in the US. There are so many empty servers with low ping and I can basically only play on the ones with a higher ping if I want daylight.

I haven't killed a single person since starting to play the game and I haven't been killed in a week or so. Stop going to Elektro or Cherno on populated servers, learn to pay attention and you will stop dying so much and actually get somewhere. PvP doesn't ruin the experience of the game for me, it makes it more challenging and gives it a whole other psychological dimension. If you removed that, the game would become really boring. Rocket is going to add consequences to the whole PvP thing. He has said this repeatedly. He just wants to do it properly and not in a half assed way. I respect that and can wait patiently. In the mean time, I am just avoiding other players to the point that they have no idea I am there. If you can't adapt to the environment, you would probably have more fun playing something else.

Cheers! There are more to come, I've just found myself using most of my spare time to play the game loads recently...

How do you know? You are making all these assumptions based on a couple of staged screenshots and empty claims... DayZ is here and we can play it. It is already a great game and it is only going to get better. From what I have read about this WarZ it is going to be another generic RPG style game similar to Dead Island...And I imagine it will be just as much of a let down as Dead island. That it feels as if it has to cash in on the success of DayZ should be indication enough that it won't be very good. I don't want skill trees, levels, xp points, quests and all that crap...That's what makes DayZ so great for me. I can play how I want, go where I want, assume whatever role I want, there are no quests, I make my own story and I become more skilful as I gain experience and knowledge about the game world and how to survive in it. Rocket seems to understand this. That is why I am confident in the future of DayZ. It's a breath of fresh air and fuels the imagination.

No interest then?

Man, this is why I haven't killed anyone in this game yet, and won't if I can help it. I've had to talk my team mates out of killing people before on a couple of occasions. Tonight being one of them... I've no idea what the guy in this video was at, but he appeared to be running towards our gunfire and trying to figure out which way we had gone. We could have easily killed him and my friend got up from prone at one point to shoot him, but we managed to talk him out of it and let the guy live. Maybe he just needed help...A blood transfusion, some food, water...All stuff I could have given, but he didn't respond to the voice chat and he was very erratic and I wasn't willing to reveal myself and take that risk. I've stayed alive this long and become this well equipped because I have kept myself and my team mates safe by only taking calculated risks....Mostly. Personally I prefer to remain unseen and avoid confrontation. I've had plenty of people in my sights that never knew. I always try to empathise with them and that keeps my judgement right. If I had some way of knowing they were murderers or were just deathmatching, I would have no problem putting them down, but if I felt there was a chance that I was killing someone that meant me no harm, I'd feel like sh*t.

If sniper rifles were removed, he majority of the griefers would leave overnight. It would be beautiful.

New loging out system and ALT + F4 insta-ban?
soapmak3r replied to SollemNRomanHD's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
If they add a timer to connect/disconnect to the game in it's current state, they will kill it instantly... The reason? So many servers do not show the correct time. So many servers are horribly unstable. So many servers are bugged out. So many servers are running different, conflicting beta patches and on and on... Half the time I have to join 5-10 servers just to find one that is working, and daylight. Everyone I know is in the same boat... In order to find a working server for us all to play on, we basically all have to go and search for one, random servers, make sure it works, has enough spaces for us, and is advertising the right time, then get them to join. So yeah, a timer would kill the game in one move at the moment. Until all the servers are working, properly labelled, and running the same ArmA2 beta patch version, there is absolutely no way a timer can be implemented. -
UK41 bullshit DCing, server hopping bastards.

Why the servers alll...you know not working...

There has been a new beta update every freaking day for the last 4 days...None of which are backwards compatible...It's getting pretty annoying. The DayZ server browser is a f**king mess and finding a decent, working server to play on is getting f**king ridiculous... Can you imagine how bad it would be if they implemented a disconnect/joining wait time like people are crying for? It would completely kill the game dead in one swift move...
