    They are just rough ideas at the moment. They aren't supposed to play in such close succession either, that was just to demonstrate them. Also..Dramatic shit happens all the time in this game, from murder, to betrayal, to stand offs, to all out massacres...

    Ah well, they obviously get killed a lot and only play to kill other people. If you hang out in Cherno or Elektro, you are asking to be killed by these bottom feeders...If you keep going there, you obviously aren't learning from your mistakes. ;) If you are going to loot either of those places as a new spawn, do it with a hatchet and get your primary weapon later on. Once you head inland, you chances of survival increase exponentially. These guys fill the role of murdering, hillbilly, dumbasses in the game. All of my team mates only fire when fired on, or when one of our team is threatened. We are very friendly up until that point, then after that, you will be dead.

    What if music signalled when bandits/murderers were near by, or was triggered by other things, like the sound of gunshots within earshot, or near by military loot, chopper crash sites, industrial areas etc? At the end of the day, you can set the music lower than the sound effects, or as you say, just turn it off. It isn't hard to do. The main thing is that the music is subtle enough that it adds to the experience without obscuring the sound effects. I am trying to make music that adds to the experience, while also making suggestions that make it relevant within the game. At the moment it isn't really relevant, or varied, which is why people turn it off.

    Low FPS in Dayz

    Use SMAA by enabling it in the arma2OA config file, turn down your resolution a bit, turn post processing to very low, or off... All of these thing will dramatically increase your frame rate. Turning off AA will double your fps, for a start.

  18. DayZ Commetary - Making the world a better place! We encountered 2 friendlies within the space of 20 minutes at the NW Airfield last night. One guy could have shot me, but didn't. Turned out that he needed morphine and a blood transfusion, which I happily gave him for not shooting me. The other guy basically ran right into 4 of us, lying prone in the grass...I think he was just happy that we didn't kill him. Unfortunately he died not longer after. I think he was probably killed by 'unfriendliness' when he got to Stary, where he said he was meeting his friend.

    Hmmm...I don't like it. It seems completely out of place to me. Experienced it on a server last night and then again this evening.
  20. Just base it in the Ireland...The whole island including the North and the South. That would be a pretty decent size...and I live here, so I could find my way about pretty well :P

    Weapon Damage Nerfs

    Yeah, the damage from pistols is a freaking joke now...I ate through 75% of my pistol ammo taking down about 10 zombies...and generally wondering wtf was going! 4 shots on average to kill a zed with an M1911...Not cool! It was fine the way it was in my opinion. This change was unnecessary.

    Obviously the music has to be subtle. The idea I had is that music would be dynamically triggered in certain instances. For example, if a bandit/murderer is within a certain distance of you, or you hear gunshots near by, a variation of the 'paranoia' theme could trigger... Or...You are prone, creeping through an area filled with zombies, another variation of a theme plays... Or, you aggro a zombie, or attract a horde, and another, more frantic theme variation would play. You find a chopper crash or enter a military base, a variation of a more military theme starts to play. Travelling through the wilderness, more melancholic themes could be triggered etc. This way, the music acts as a cue and heightens the immersion, rather than takes away from it. there is a lot of scope for it in game. I think most people turn the music off in-game at the moment because it gets repetitive very quickly due to the lack of variety.
