I actually like the current system where the dayz team impose server settings to server admins if they don't want to lose the right to host dayZ servers. I think it should remain up to the dayz team to decide what is acceptable and what is not. I Think it's a nice change from the "durr my server, my rules" mentality that you find on nearly every "host your own" games out there.

Regular and veteran are presets, but a server can basically change any of the settings those two presets govern. What regular or veteran means is whatever the server operator decided. It's just so when hosting a mission they can have two configuration that players can vote for in vote enabled servers. -
There is a ton of places perfect to hide a tent, they are obvious ebcause if you're in the general viscinity of one , you shouldn't have to go pixel hunting. 200square kilometers and you can't hide a 1 meter tall camo tent?

That's called a tent, which is currently available in the mod. It's local to the server and isn't really "personal" however. I don't think rocket want to add private storages tho...

I'd go for monthly fee personally. Continued support = continued payment It's only fair.

If we could have a heatmap of player movements around the map you would see very high density in places like novy sobor, the airflields, the coasts, roads and paths, some density in the "beeline paths" in the forest that connect a hot spot to another, and also some sectors that receive nearly no players because there is nothing there and it's on no direct paths. So yeah uniform density isn't the best calculation to use for this, even if it gives you an interesting view of how wildly different the theory is from what's actually going on.

Here are a few ideas for poison, because nothing better than some potassium cyanide to try those friendships: Cyanide pills: (extremely rare) can be used as a roleplay suicide method, makes you collapse almost immediately and die in the next minutes. Can also be mixed with water canteens to create a letal drink. rat poison (strychnine): rare/uncommon Can be mixed with cooked meat and water canteens, can be used to coat crossbow bolts. Cause death in 2 to 4 hours, tremors start after 15 to 20 minutes followed by exhaustion and death from asphyxia or exhaustion. Can be cured by poison hemlock poison hemlock: rare Grow in the forest, can be mixed with canteens, can be used to coat crossbow bolts. Cause death in 15 to 20 minutes through asphyxia. Can be used as an antidote to rat poison. Now this is a draft idea, my idea isn't to make everyone poison everything, but to give always this little risk, when accepting uncanned food and drinks from strangers. I thought a suicide option could be interesting and the ability to poison unsealed food and drinks could make trust inside a group quite tense. The poisoned bolts obviously do not affect zombies. This would make the crossbow a little more interesting, considering the player that was hit is going to go in panic mode immediately. A poisoned bolt would need to be re coated each time it's fired so with the way our equipments work you can't simply carry around enough poison to fire poisoned bolts all the time. Also each poison being the antidote of the other make things interesting; did this zombie really hurt you or have was this last crossbow bolt poisoned? And if you are sure you are poisoned, which symptoms? Because one of the poisons will cure you and the other will kill you.

Glad you like it! I thought rat poison would be a town type of loot while the hemlock would be a forest plant so it would give a reason to sometimes go in forest (not just for traveling). Plus it adds to the feeling that life in this new world isn't worth much. Other idea i had, you could loot zombie meat from dead zombies, however it would make you seriously ill if eaten, a little wink at those players that put everything that say "edible" to their mouth :D Also hm, i noticed there are a lot of little ponds scattered around the map but they always look very ... muddy and a bit swampy. Like the zombie meat, i think you should be able to bottle it but drinking it would make you quite ill too. Ohhh that's a good one, you could boil any water canteen over a camp fire to kill bacteria or neutralise the poison in it if you aren't certain of what's inside.

I thought this wasn't a suggestion so wouldn't belong int he suggestion section, if it does i'm genuinly sorry to the moderators. As i read this forum i see lots and lots and lots of suggestions asking for what i tend to call "code as law". Either protection from a category of players, punishment, regulation, protection of property, codification of objectives, incentives to behave a certain way... What i'm wondering is "why?" why is the idea of a sandbox game so difficult to assimilate? so terifying? Why not asking instead, more objects, more tools more things that basically add possibilities in this emergent gameplay style, more opportunities to make the best of a bad situation. Why asking for rules to be written into the code? This is literally a "sandbox" we should be asking for more bucket, more shovels and and, not for "mom should protect my castle from the other kids!". This is asking for a form of governance and means that as players we gave up on taking our destiny in our hands and stop being victims. This mod is an opportunity, it's not so much of a game, it's what i call an "environment simulation". It simply tells you how the world work, and then it's up to you to make the best of it. -

That makes sense, I fancy myself as a game designer and those open sandbox style games fascinate me. DayZ is approaching in many ways various social and gameplay problems that i face myself. My personal view on the subject is that the video game industry in general tend to steer their development time toward games that will maximize their sale potential. This means that a great deal of frustration reduction must be factored in the game design. To me it's bad because with time, it creates a generation of gamers that tend to have anger management issues when a more "rough" game is presented to them. Which further reenforce the feeling that tight rules have to be put in the game to ensure that the fun of one person CANNOT trample on the fun of another. As a result (to me) emergent games are few and far between, small indie projects or free mods and the video game market devolve slowly in a procession of "rollercoaster rides" instead of being the bubbling pool of creativity that it should be. -

Why should the game discourage betrayal? Because the society we grew in say that honestly should be rewarded? It makes trust all the more important if it's hard to gain and easy to lose.

That's the point, them being clan toys, they require so muich gear to repair/refuel, the very concept of getting a vehicle in working order is a group reward. Admion toys? i dunno, so far rocket is being pretty severe with admins that abuse their powers for personal gain and threatened a couple of them of kicking them out of the project. What i'd like to see is ONE plane, maybe a non military one, because unlike helicopters, those can only take off or land at about 3 places that i know, it would create some crazy tension everytime it's in the air. For common transportation, i think bikes (not motorbikes) should be less rare, they are fairly fragile, without storage and only give you the advantage of a speed boost and fatigue reduction.

Same for me, the real strength of a faction is the ability to hold together without a "system" to act as a crutch.

for pure storage you need to find and build a tent, keep in mind it's only going to keep your items safe as long as other players do not stumble upon it

My Arma modding days are LONG gone, but if i recall, the HEAD of an arma model can be forced through the unit's initialisation field. And this mod basically add a set of new presets for mission makers, but the heads are fully compatible with all the other bodies. It would "simply" be a matter of having in the slot selection screen, instead of "survivor", a bunch of "survivor(male)" and "survivor(female)" where the survivor(female) slots have an initialisation code that set the new face. Of course... once the bandit issues are settled... and if there is nothing more pressing, because so far NO arma mod ever considered ladies under the guise that there is no girls in active duty in the US army. -

I guess exclusive control of the mic is the way to go then. I'm not entirely sure if it's possible tho. Obviously it would have to be a GOOD voice chat. To the other poster, why would it be a malware? most games do not allow you to run directX/OpenGL injections in your game window (or wallhacks would be ok) When did it become ok that as long as it's sound it's ok to cheat? :D Mumble is opensource and has a great sound quality, could be nice to see a game one day partnering with them to create a game that has an EXELLENT ingame voice comm. -
