Arma2 element, keep in mind in this game you originally NEVER carry anything else than ammo in your inventory, when you drop a gun, the game tries to remove the ammo that goes with it.

From my understanding there is no such thing as a "local" mode. If they managed to get a local mode running they do it in violation with the server hosting agreement they have with the dayZ team. Seriously is ANYONE is going to yank those moron's database access? As an example of what to do to get your server banned.

I used to brute force EVE passworded cans :D That was cute. But seriously no, there is no ownership in dayZ, you only own what you can hide and keep safe.

So far from what i gathered: -They lock/pw their server sometimes. -They dish out bans for stream sniping, or claim they do. -They skim their server logs while they are playing. Now i don't have anything against those guys, but on one side we have server admins complaining they can't ban whoever they want or administrate their server anyway they wish, and on the other side those guys give the feeling that they can do as they please. Either that's blowhard talk or something is going on and i would like to know. Is this server "privilegied" by the dev team? Are those peoples special and have the right to make rules as they go? unlike the rest of the server admins? And if yes, why?

I could just imagine the event, helicopter flying over your head and suddently you hear it crash over the horizon and EVERYONE is running toward the smoke :D

I'm all for the presence of bottles of Jack' that are NOT empty :) yeah... in pitch black (or at least complete cloud cover blocking stars/moon) a single cig can be seen for miles if smoked on a clear hilltop IRL.. so it is a 'use at own risk!' for more then just one health reason xD Danger can lead to lead poisoning :p

I'm okay for adding smoking, or other nasty behavior as a roleplay element, but your suggestion is pretty much smoking endorsement. I mean it would have been okay a few decades ago, but not today.

From what rocket said around the master server is more than a match for the current dayZ traffic, the only thing it doesn't like is the repeated use of the respawn button. As for the game servers themselve they get DDoSed by all the peoples spamming the enter key, it aparently creates a lingering connection on the gamespy port that can make the ram use inflate (since usually there is quite a bunch of peoples trying again, and again and again)

In all cases, whether we like it or not, our opinion doesn't matter. Rocket already stated that he had his own idea of the mod and wont cave to popular requests if he believe they are uncalled for.

Dead island was a very enjoyable game for the time i could convince my friends to play it, the envirnment was interesting and combat satisfying, however it's not a survival game. I wished that the mission where you have to go get food and drinks could go on forever, so neglecting one of the survivor groups would end up with them dying, or turning against you. Dead isand: Co op: check Open word: check Survival aspects: not really Melee combat: check and quite a fantastic one. Firearms: check but not the focus PvP: nope To mo dead island had a lot of potential but the devs tried to cater to the Left4Dead crowd a little too much. Day Z: Co-op: possible Open world: check Survival aspects: check but i have yet to starve to death. Melee combat: nope, and lets not even think about it, its arma and arma suck at this. Firearms: check, its what arma does best. PvP: check. I like both games but they do not evolve in the same category, i would love an enlarged banoy island in arma though. And brightly colored midrif t-shirts :D

I drink mostly diet coke, it doesnt dehydrate you. Now, regular coke stimulate thirst because of it's high sugar level.

As rocket said the mster server is NOT overloaded. The server you are connected to, is.

Well i consider that if you are streaming to an audience, it's up to you to take the necessary measures so it can't be used against you: -block out the chat. -change ingame nick. If you can't or won't do this, you are BOUND to get stream sniped because someone, somewhere doesn't like you or consider that your streaming is a form of bragging.

I will add that corpses should stay long enough so if you kill someone or see someone dying you have enough time to go loot his corpse. At the same time corpses shouldn't stay long enough that a person can go loot his own body.

Plenty of games out there that fit the description, why should dayZ be one more of the same?

The point is that it's impossible to please everyone. No, actually it is possible, that's what the game industry at large tend to do but it doesn't lead to games that tend to be extreme like DayZ. What we do here are mere suggestions, even if a suggestion gets a massive following, it doesn't give it any more weight than another because ultimately what we want or what is "good for the mod's popularity" doesn't matter at all.

I like what you wrote on interiors, the problem is that in every PVP games, players camp choke points, in the case of "teleport to enter" buildings, there is a VERY obvious choke point and no way for the person entering or exiting to react before the camper.

I'm not sure if this was suggested before but, it could be nice to have full sized enterable tents that we can build, now that the temperature system is on. When it's raining you could pitch your tent with your group and wait it out, dry.

It could be nice if having the hunting knife gave you a wheel action when you are right against a player or a zombie, to make a silent kill.

Well i'm not a big fan of the food can replenish style, it would be better if... blood replenish by itself as long as you are > 50% in food. After all your body need raw material to produce new blood cells, it has to come from somewhere.

I'm thinking about all the different weapon boxes that come standard with the game, especially the wooden box types with a camo net over them, those would make great item caches.

It does replenish whenever you eat something, if i can't get my hand on blood bags i usually eat whatever i can find. To take a real world example, it's not recommended to give blood more than once every 2 months, this gives you an idea of how fast blood replenish in the roal world.
