No one can see you here, so everyone will judge you by what you write. If you write like a bratty little kid, expect everyone to treat you as one.

@spawn: Do you have something more constructive than insults to add in this topic? If not, you might as well make us gain some time and keep them to yourself.

No new releases until the hacks are fixed
Lady Kyrah replied to punisher_1's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
This is an alpha, the game is barely being fleshed out, inventories will most likely be wiped time and time again. Alpha means the devs add features upon features and that it will be bugged as hell. Then when it starts looking like something they will spend time fixing. -
Thoughts on the In-game Economics
Lady Kyrah replied to TheCaptn (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I kinda agree with the OP, the game logic need to actively recycle and create in the game world, create new items, but also recycle the old ones, ensuring a continuous flow. Any technological advantage rotting away as time pass. -
Here is a little suggestion i came up with to promote group play without... actually enforcing anything. "It's better together!" Basically when a player is near another player they get the following bonus: -faster breathing recovery. -lower hunger rate. -lower thirst rate. This could eventually stack, lets say up to 3 or 4? This concept isn't new, it was promoted by the half life mod "frontline force" where they wanted to encourage teamplay rather than lone wolfing, without making it impossible. And yeah i know it's not very realistic, but this is a symbolism to portray the sense of security brought by the feeling of not being alone, the feeling of empowerment of being part of a group, that kind of stuff. It remains fairly open, doesn't tell you you have to be nice or not, it doesn't discriminate against bandits, it simply encourage you to find a friend to watch your back. It's just an idea, you like or you don't.
-
But at the same time if you play alone and far from anyone... why are you playing a multiplayer game? That's a waste fo resources to me.
-
Oh boy I guess karma is biting me back this time :D So, beside the boneheaded answers about strict realism, anyone want to comment on the possible benefits in gameplay flow? Of course you don't, it's a symbolic, arbitrary gain if you remain near other players, wether they are hostile or not is beyond the scope of this suggestion.

Oh i know being in a group already has incentive, the advantages i cited where merely an example, the idea to me was to try to find something subtle and not too "directed" that could make sharing a part of the journey with a total stranger a mutually beneficial experience. More beneficial than, lets say killing him and looting him. I'm usually the first one to jump in a suggestion to burn it to the ground but i thought this was mild enough to be interesting. I've been struggling with this game mechanic problem for quite a while, if you feel like reading about it: http://www.torquepowered.com/community/forums/viewthread/115631

What discussion? This thread doesn't even have a discussion, a large majority of the people here disagree with the OP therefore there isn't much of a discussion now is there? I see where the OP is coming from and what he is asking is entirely possible from a programing standpoint, the problem is that this kind of "hostile actions" are generally not perceived too well.

My argument for less damaging, less accurate guns
Lady Kyrah replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
forgot, new flash, weapons in arma are not lasers they have drop, and take a while to arrive on target. -
A radical approach to encourage co-op/deter PvP
Lady Kyrah replied to jaginun's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Guys, this is not cluedo, most ppl who complain about getting killed complain according to their own experience, not the experience of others. You realy believe someone will bother to investigate the body of some random player and put upon themselve to "right" this ? -

Have you tried logging onto a server recently? How long does it take? Do you really believe that with the time required to enter a server this problem is really urgent?

”Outside” the map destruction/kill script.
Lady Kyrah replied to htl (nor)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
And umm... why? You can go there you too. It's like finding a needle in a haystack but you can go there too. I fully expect helo peoples to do this, after all, why not doing it? -
My argument for less damaging, less accurate guns
Lady Kyrah replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
If you play on veteran servers it's already pretty hard to aim at anyone while also saving your own life by staying in movement. And if you are are 10 meters from a hostile guy you deserve to die, arma is designed for infantry engagements at 100-300 meters, not for close quarter combat. Close quarter combat is DANGEROUS for a reason. -
Oh i'm not, i do believe he's quite incompetent in managing the hydra that DayZ became in a few weeks. DayZ is one of those "happy mistakes" in the same vein minecraft was. I am for more gameplay mechanics, but not more "directed play"

The zombie increase should be absolutely ridiculous , i know by experience that players are creatures of habits, and even if the popular spots ended up crowded with zombies they will KEEP GOING THERE until it's absolutely impossible to survive.

I'm against any skill system, i rather have more mechanics available, maybe a complete medical tratment system. I prefer a game where X isn't better than you because his character has the right skill for the situation but because... X is simply better than you at the game.

This is too open to abuse.

"Sanity" like in Amnesia: Dark Descent
Lady Kyrah replied to Gravelsack's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Killing peoples doesn't make you insane! Only those who later feel remorse for their actions end up having long lasting sequels, or every small and big game hunters in the world would suffer from it. -
Rare Collectable books - Realistic alternative to class system?
Lady Kyrah replied to combatcomm1's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Let's ignore for a moment that not everything of value is written in books. If a player is better than you in every way at this game, which means he can orient himself, he know how to react during combat, how to evade zombies, how to get in and out of a location without atracting attention to himself or how to orient himself without a compass using the sun at day and the stars at night. Is it fair to "gimp" this player with a class type mechanic so you (or another player) are of any use to him? I'm all for finding ideas to deepen the gameplay, but i don't think an RPGesque system is the right way, if you want to be useful to other players, i think you should have to have something they can really use. Hell maybe i'm harsh but ... If you are not an asset to a group, why would that group keep you? This is not some RPG where you play a character, you play yourself in a fictional situation, so what you have to give value to your life is... well what you are basically. You can decide to play a different role, but your character still only has the skills that you have yourself. That's also why i kinda hope if the mod get ported to arma3 that we end up with realistic helicopter behavior, so flying one isn't so easy anymore. I don't think it's up to the game to make you valuable. I am for adding more things to eventually master though!
