Sanity: Turning DayZ from a FFA shooter to a survival game.
Lady Kyrah replied to IIBloodXLustII's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
You say FFA game, maybe that's what the game is ment to be, not the warped vision of a somehow survival game where everyone is magically friend with everyone else, but rocket's vision. Maybe this guy's vision isn't to make a game mod that is fun for "the entire family"? -
How to solve the anonymous sociopath problem
Lady Kyrah replied to CongressmanAlexShrub's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
First we need to debate on the very title of this topic. Why is it a problem? -
Expand the map - Remove off map camps
Lady Kyrah replied to seannybgoode's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Technically the map is infinite, mostly for boat and aircraft purpose, but outside of the regular map bounds there is nothing beyond peaks and valleys. -
It could. Would you shudder at the idea of Bubba having his way with you as you bleed out on the pavement? XD

Sanity: Turning DayZ from a FFA shooter to a survival game.
Lady Kyrah replied to IIBloodXLustII's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
They shoot on sight because it's their best bet of survival in a game where you can shoot someone dead at 300 meters without a scope. A dead player is one thing you don't have to worry about. Until we eventually have more to lose from dying than just our gear, most players will fight to the death rather than surrender. And until we have means of surrendering, most players will shoot on sight. -
Then abandon your gear? This is one of those cases where the journey is more important than the destination.

Sanity: Turning DayZ from a FFA shooter to a survival game.
Lady Kyrah replied to IIBloodXLustII's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
^ This. This topic has been beaten to death million times so it won't mind another lousy kick from me (bored waiting for food to cook). Nobody complains about normal bandits, it's legitimate style and easily justified. You pro-bandits don't get this but always go mental that bandits shouldn't be nerfed, and they shouldn't. The problem is the aforementioned FFA-sandboxers who spawn, find gun, find player, shoot the player no matter if he's no threat and there's gadzillion zombies nearby. They don't bother much with gear or loot but for a weapon. They play solely to spawn, run around and kill other players and when they die they respawn and repeat. This has absolutely nothing to do with survival, I assume we can all agree on that much? Now I know rocket has stated he won't implement artificial punishments or anything and that's good, it'd only hurt the real bandits who are legit element of the game. It's this random FFA'ers that really ruin the experience for many, especially for those unlucky enough to meet them several times during short period of time. There is no reasonable way to judge the "motivation" of a player to kill another solely through a piece of code. It's the same issue encountered on gmod "RP" servers, where half the time when someone get killed they yell and moan how it was unjustified and/or against the rules. We can't reasonably police this. Incentives can be put, but i believe rocket stated before that in his "vision" our actions as a community will determinate the game we play. -
Character wipes with patch releases
Lady Kyrah replied to Fiddlesticks's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
THing is, unlike MMO games in DayZ you don't HAVE to do any work to access to tier gear; you simply have to be lucky. If YOU do not have them, someone else will basically. I think regular wipes would be much welcome. I can see it being an extremely unpopular move in the eyes of those who do not see themselve as alpha testers. -
teamplay?

Yeah because at this time of the development it's such a priority to cater to everyone's little needs -_-

Any of you know a band called clawfinger? I think this piece of one of their songs is suitable :D "Ignore all your feelings just go all the way If you don't then death is the price you have to pay This ain't peace and love no man this is war Don't even dare to ask what you're fighting for Just search and destroy never question a lie You don't want to bite the bullet boy you don't want to die Don't try to tell me that you couldn't kill a man That's a load of fucking bullshit boy I know you can" -
Blood packs are transfusion kits really.

DayZ should allow servers to be created at home
Lady Kyrah replied to Genki Dama's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I think the major point here is that DayZ is in alpha, everyone that is willing to test should be allowed, and this isn't yet the time for private little cliques. If it ever will be. -
That's the thing OP, there are plenty of developpers catering to the masses, not every developper has to in order to be successful. A lot of suggestions here bring up the assumption "if you want to please a maximum of players" But what if it's not what the devs are after? There is more than just making games for the lowest common denominator.

No new releases until the hacks are fixed
Lady Kyrah replied to punisher_1's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
You didn't read a word of what I wrote did you? -
Now this is my view of things but there is way too much food laying around. Now i have to admit it help when you don't have access to a blood bag and you can stuff yourself with beans in nearly every towns. But the food should be much more scarce than this, you should have plenty of time to find your next meal but you should be relieved when you do, death from hunger should happen much more often in my opinion :)
-
I remember this trailer--> Bunch of guys hunting you down for a bottle of water.
-
I have yet to kill someone without a reason: -Better him than me. -Shiny stuffs you have here my friend. -You know, I could use an extra can of beans. -Either you start crawling around these zombies or i'm gonna start shooting. -Continue being the "though guy" in chat and i'll put you down. -This is MY loot! -It's the perfect situation, sorry you're gonna suffer for all the others. However on the receiving end you always feel that you died for no reason, and that's a way to cope with it, and i understand that. It's a way to shed ourselve from any possible wrong doing. "I died because this guy is an ass and simply wanted to ruin my day"

TITLE UPDATED: No more SOLO corpse runs = Player driven missions
Lady Kyrah replied to Malleovic's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I like. This game being entirely gear driven, the ability to do a corpse run completely nullify the penality of death. -
Was I the only person going prone at the first sign of zombies before the patch?

No new releases until the hacks are fixed
Lady Kyrah replied to punisher_1's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Because those major server killing hack where an isolated problem until DayZ came up. Also how long do you expect developpers to churn patches when there is no fresh money rolling in? Yes they had 3 years but do you think they sold much copies since the release, before DayZ? The reason they are kicking back into gear now is because there is a renewed interest in the arma serie and a BUDGET for more patches. -
No matter what you do it all boil down on the fact humans are creatures of habits, we don't like when the rules change, especially when it's not in our favor or toward our playstyle. I can foresee that it will happen again and again as the game get fleshed out and it evolve into something more specific.
-
It seriously curbe the noob kill noob trend, hell, even i, when i die, usually look for a freshly spawned bloke to cap so i can take his stuff before leaving the beach. This behavior had zero consequences, since, at worst you died and had to try again.

No new releases until the hacks are fixed
Lady Kyrah replied to punisher_1's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
The arma engine typically distribute some of the processing to the connected clients, a prime example would be if i have AI squadmates, my computer is doing the AI work for them, not the server, it's even more noticeable if the server has an AI module that i do not have, the server controled AI will cream my AI every single time. This distribution of labor is also what allows arma servers to handle so many zombies, the zombies around you are handled by your own computer. This means that the game is much more vulnerable to hacks, which wasn't really a problem on regular arma servers, where the game is mostly designed for playing with people that you know, this game wasn't made with a BF3 come play with strangers" in mind. Hell, joining the game while it's in progress didn't even exist in arma and flashpoint.
