No they don't, they signed a contract/term of service that specifically state that they aren't allowed to affect the gameplay. I suppose i need to explain myself a little more clearly. Yes, we have currently a pretty big hacker problem, but we also have a problem of server hosts being in breach of the DayZ Term of service and that's an issue too. So yeah, i'm all for Admins ensuring that their server is running properly and hack free. But admins are also players, and whatever power the Dayz dev team allow them to fight against hackers can also be used to abuse legitimate players or for personal gain. There are so many edge cases where i've een "this guy must be a hacker!" when "this guy" is just simply really good, or at the right place, at the right time. On top of hackers ruining servers we also have admin viliglantism, or even worse, admins that will use cheats themselve, either to combat hackers, or to give themselve an edge. I've had my share of server administration for various games, but i'm not that wealthy anymore, or i would probably host a few dayz servers. However one example i can give you was the minecraft PVP server i used to run. There was no play rules, the only thing was "do not hack, do not harm the server". I ended up hiding that i was the server owner to avoid players coming at me for X and Y reasons and actually never played as an operator. I wanted to PLAY, not become a worshipped god. But i know how it is, the temptation is always there, a player blow your camp or steal your precious goodies and it's always sitting in the back of your mind. "oh i'm gonna spawn myself in a bunch of glowstone, just this time" "oh i'm gonna ban this guy, he is driving players away" I've not always resisted the temptation, and we always make up bullshit excuses to justify our actions. Some of us have grand ideas that .. frankly are not what DayZ is about since they require specific "advantages" in order to be viable ( Green mountain radio for example ) Ideally if the game was mostly bug free and mostly hack free, admin intervention would be completely unneeded and we could all be mere players. This is a very important thing to understand, ingame admin presence in a well working game is not required, and if DayZ ever become hack free, players will expect you to stop presenting yourself as admins and become mere players. This is a game that will eventually only need someone to ensure the machine keeps running. I'm all for combatting hackers, but i will still chime in everytime the power used to fight against them is used for personal gain.

It's pretty obvious with the hostility going on in the server reporting section that a lot of server hosts do not read the term of service or accept it (not necessarly agree to it) before requesting to host for DayZ. What i suggest is that they have to somehow sign it, either electronically (i agree blah blah) before getting their request processed or even on paper? I don't know, but so many posters react pretty vigorously at each report of a server violating the rules, it appears that the majority either don't even know there is a Term of Service, or purposely purposely ignore it.

The hacker problem must be dealt with separately. As for the guy loling about a lawsuit, it's not that far fetched. What kind of agreement do you think exist betweent Dice/EA and the official server providers for Battlefield 3? Do you think they are allowed to do whatever they want with the servers they are running? They aren't, they are under contract that strictly delimitate what they can or cannot do.

Yeah but do we really want to encourage more games to lazy designs like that? I know it keeps the games free but i dunno about you but i can still pay a full game now and then.

I thinkt he devs read the forum, but they also have magic glasses that do not display issues that have already been aknowledged or suggestions already presented. Which means that for them, the suggestion forum starts on page ten.

It was done before, resulting in what we called "deathmatch coast" or "bean coast". 4. Most already list the timezone they are following. 5. Dayz barely has any progression system, life is ment to be short and intense, death to be swift and painful.

I agree about the sound, ANY military rifle has an eardrum shattering noise. I forgot to wear my ear protection when coming near the range where some guy was firing an assault rifle and it got my ears ringing. And that's after a single shot.

There are many 3D techs on the market, the most popular one being by far NVIDIA's 3D vision, this oculus thing will have to support it or die. Without SDK and the actual specs of the device there isn't much to do but to wait. I'm actually the not so proud owner of a head mounted display from emagin technology, which i had to couple with a trackIR to get some kind of decent head poition recognition (the emagin sensors sucked badly and so does any kind of accelerometers as they end up drifting from the zero position) All in all they are interesting little things but usually suffer from a limited screen resolution and limited peripheral vision (which can both be fixed, for a price) 640*800 isn't a whole lot per eye, my emagin HMD is 800x600 per eye and i can tell you it's REALLY not a lot, especially for a game as detailed as arma2, i literally couldn't see shit in bushes. 200 grams is HEAVY on the neck, without some counterweight it's going to make for seriously tiring gaming sessions. http://www.3dvisor.com/
