    And that's the thing, you never replace "everything" in a game engine, because even today, there are still bits and pieces of the quake 1 source code in the source engine. Why? Because what worked back then still work today, there is no sense in reinventing the wheel when the old one is doing exactly what is demanded from it. There is justification for many things, but at the end of the day, how many times can you refactor, let's say a trigonometry function? It's still gonna be about trigonometry in the end and there is'nt a million of improvements you can do to it. More examples: why would they rewrite their custom file formats for example? Unless there is a glaring problem with it, they have years of toolsets for working with those formats. Most users only see the upper layers of the engine, for instance, people still believe that BeamNG is running on the cryengine, because it "looks" like it.

    I really wish gamers would shake off this misconception that developers make things better by restarting "from scratch", the only people i know who do that are beginner programmers that get overwhelmed by their own project and are unable to do iterative changes to it. If you have problems in your program you fix them, you do not toss out all the GOOD stuff you wrote just because there is a few bad ones. Ask banks if they prefer new untested and unstable code to code that work and has been debugged for years.

    Too fiddly, too tacticool, yet another suggestion that add unneeded complexity to the inventory system just because we somehow HAVE to have a granular molle system instead of a handful of stock pack setups.

    I'll never understand why every single one of these topics always lack of objectivity. Also where do you categorize those of us who enjoy a good (man) hunt? "There is no hunting like the hunting of man, and those who have hunted men long enough and liked it, never care for anything else thereafter."
  13. The door swing both ways: Spend an afternoon with a detailed reloading system and it might become second nature too. I do not see anything wrong in raising the controls complexity (within reason). More things to become better at.
  14. Well it's my belief that they should just remove the damn 3rd pov camera, this is a relic from Arma's difficulty settings.

    I was implying that you don't know how much work your suggestion translate to :) Aka that it's far far beyond reasonable considering the scope of what dayZ is currently about.

    If you're not concerned about the well being of the victim, force feeding only require a big funnel: You eat/drink or you choke to death.

    Not just almost, nothing should persist between lives. I like this idea as a way to give your character value beyond it's equipment. Crafting wise, here is an additional idea: Every crafting recipe has to be prototyped at 3-4 times the required ingredients once per life. So the clear benefit of not dying here is that you won't have to waste resources prototyping your crafting recipes again.
