Do you believe people who shoot on sight are terrible at DayZ?

My friends shoot anyone who is geared ...
Lady Kyrah replied to EvilTigerAce's topic in General Discussion
You really thought you where in control of the situation? You decided to be cocky and it got you killed. -
They are not confusing the game for an ego shooter, this is a game you can play in various way, they decided they where not going to roleplay, or give you the wiggle room you hoped for. Again, this is a game where others can influence how you will be allowed to play.

Ah this tired old excuse...

OP, because aiming guns in video games is trivial.

Why nobody want to play in the night time?
Lady Kyrah replied to MrKartel's topic in General Discussion
People don't like to lose. So they will avoid situations that will put the odds against them. -
DayZ Development progress makes no sense

They'll do whatever the hell they want. -
Should Rocket go sooner rather than later?

And at the same time a game can't be everything for everyone, only so many man hours you can put in it. -
We where talking specifically about occlusion culling, frustum culling is a given, arbitrary occlusion volumes however have to be handled more carefully (buildings?) Even zone portals come with a non negligible cost.
-
Occlusion culling is one method, with a major drawback: it's extremely expensive resource wise, to a point where you have to balance between losing fps due to too much occlusion culling calls, or losing fps due to too many objects drawn. Occlusion culling used indiscriminately is as bad as too many objects.

Once DayZ is complete; Will it require studying?

What's wrong with discovering stuff as you play? -

So your argument is that it's bigger so it's better? -
POLL: What if DayZ was made by a different company?
Lady Kyrah replied to The Aquatic Land Walrus's topic in General Discussion
If it was one of the big AAA studios, it would probably be a more conservative approach, none of this perma death thing because you can't afford to turn away customers, probably a much more limited potential for player to player griefing (frustration management again). If it would be a project they would carry at all. -
Should Rocket go sooner rather than later?

Building a map like Chernarus takes ages, it's easily the most detailed map BIS Has made so far (Altis is bland and uninteresting in comparison). Ask the few rare people who made maps for the arma serie (There is only a few "new" community on each game of the serie for a reason) how long it took them. People who never programmed seems unable to grasp the idea that when you develop an in-house engine you don't really have the "Arma 3 version" on one side and the "DayZ version" on the other. You can borrow code from one side to the other, should you want to. There are many cool features in Arma3 that will never be in DayZ and DayZ features that will never be in Arma3, because guess what, it's a different game with a different scope and at some point you just stop adding features. While modders usually wish for as many features as possible, they generally only get what the devs needed to create the game they wanted, nothing more. -

How often am i going to read this.... Bohemia Interactive has it's own in house engine, they are NOT going to pay licensing for a 3rd party engine, there is no discussion to be had there. Whether their engine is good or bad is out of the equation, it's something they already have, that they made, that they know like the back of their hand, why would they spend a sizable chunk of their budget on a 3rd party solution? Every single mature game engine out there has been in continuous development at least for the past 10 years. -

That's not how companies work. -

You call "a little criticism" the swarm of entitled little twats creating topics after topics on how they are angry that the game doesn't go their way? But it's a good thing that they most likely read none of this filth otherwise they would have dropped the project a long time ago. -
When are the devs going to allow us to do something about the hacks?
Lady Kyrah replied to lvcrxrcr's topic in General Discussion
They won't. You do not solve hacking issues through aggressive moderation. -

This is not the shareholder meeting of DayZ, i'm the only one thinking that discussing people's employment on a game forum is anything but tasteful? -
i don't even know why we would have a fucking grenade launcher, plain grenades not dangerous enough?

Ever wonder what a 14 year old squeaker sounds like angry?
Lady Kyrah replied to billyangstadt's topic in General Discussion
At the same time 14 years old have nothing to do in an 18+ game. -
Why stop at 3, you should ask for 5 or 6 right away.

There is no such thing as an endgame to dayZ, there is nothing to look forward to, you as a player cannot "win" this game.
