SA, proper Bolt, lever action and reloading animations.
Lady Kyrah replied to Aporis's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
The zoomed thing RO2 use require render to texture, like the rear view mirrors/cameras of A3 and we all know how extremely bad they are. FYI render to texture is a VERY taxing process as you essentially render the screen from a second camera point of view and then render the main view after applying it as a texture, every single frame, so you essentially slice your framerate in half if your RTT render at the same resolution as your main view (which it does if you want to use it as a scope). The blurred edge they've done is not that bad, it achieve the right feel and hardly cost anything gpu wise, it's ground breaking in the sense that it's a very light alternative that hardly anyone used before. And i'm fine if it doesn't give peripheral vision benefit to snipers, fuck snipers. -

Yeah they do harm you a pretty good deal to avoid killing you. Even with a seatbelt, you can potentially suffer a pretty mean chest bruise and crack a couple ribs. But personally i do not see myself in a zombie scenario using seatbelts, it might be dangerous but with hardly any cars driving the collision risk is minimal and not being held in your car during a zombie attack is a good thing. -
zombies should be able to disarm you

^^^ This. Movement wise, you might enjoy Miasmata as a good example, it's night impossible stopping yourself while running down a slope, you get atracted toward slopes (like if the slope gave you trouble to get a firm grip on your feet, you slide as you change direction and can even tumble down hills. Here is one of my recordings there is a lot of running around if you have the patience. http://www.twitch.tv/kyrahabattoir/b/348039347 I'd like to add tha tthis type of controls might piss a lot of people off, it's everything but fine and precise like gamers are used to. -
I'm just implying that it's the only sight type you can be sure to have on the gun you're gonna use. Anything else my break, be broken, loose, lost, scratched or out of batteries. And... game design wise i would not consider any addons to guns unless there isn't anything left to spend time on development time wise.

there is only one realistic type for the zombie apocalyps, ironsights :)

The same way usa impose their ban on nudity to everyone. They think they are right.

Because it was the best example he could find to support his dislike of the idea.

You might want to bump the "threat" thing to 24 or 48 hours to make it really worth anything.

you actually have two speed settings, if you use the sprint key your get some extra power. I used to play Euro truck sim, after a little while you barely think about your shifting, but i think it's a good skill element :) -
Perma-identity. Nickname is permanent. Nickname as face. Cover face - conceal nickname.

Well this idea IS a mess in a way, this is not a competitive game, this is not a game where you should have something like "player accountability", this is a zombie survival adventure game after all. I know you don't like douchebags that ruin the game for everyone, and neither do I. But this is also a game about roleplaying, and being able to decide to play someone different every now and then. Should a player be straitjacketed in his reputation to a point where playing differently won't be an option to him? Everytime we die we come back on the shore, empty handed, this does imply to some degree that we are playing a new character and that the previous character is dead and buried. Hell, here is a crazy idea, when you die your name should be picked randomly and you should be removed from any groups you where in (if we ever get groups), which means if you where a group leader, your next in command becomes leader. -
Now from a gameplay perspective, child zombies are just a variant that require it's own skeleton, body and animation (and clothes). So for the devs it's more of a case of "does this add anything of value to the gameplay, or are we better off making another adult zombie variant that will use adult skeleton, animations, and most likely cut down the work by using some of the adult zombie body". It takes less time to model another head; add some clothes and retexture a zombie than it takes to make a completely new entity.

That's the most sensible solution i believe, players should be able to craft "stencils" (cardboard cutouts that can be spraypainted over in a couple seconds) if they have a piece of cardboard and some cutting implement. Here is a real life example of what the stencil look like-> http://cherrypickeddesign.files.wordpress.com/2013/07/stencil-finished.jpg it's easy to make, doesn't last for very long, easy to roll and tuck in your bag. Here is a very known one :) -> http://th05.deviantart.net/fs71/PRE/i/2013/193/8/d/lambda_stencil_by_doomaholic-d6d7rp6.jpg It would be limited to a single color, which means whatever paintcan you use on it will be the color of the design. (nothing prevent you to make multiple stencils that complete eachothers and to use a different color on them). Stencils would wear out after a certain amount of uses and require a new one to be crafted (you could save your design obviously so you don't have to redo it everytime, but this allow the dev team by controling how the materials, and paint spawn to control how many different designs are in the game at any given time). They could also be looted, so an enemy clan could damage your clan's reputation by reusing your symbols. Also, maybe also have paint thinner spray cans, for those who really wish to get rid (immediately) of a tag that was left on their door. -

All depends how bullet holes are handled by the game, a quick example would be counter strike: -Player pull the trigger, his client immediately draw the bullet hole where it thinks it will be. -Server receive the firing event and send it to all the clients. -Clients "play" the firing event and draw where they think the bullet hole would be based on the aiming angle. In this scenario, what each player sees is different, depending wether the client thinks the players shooting are, the bullet holes will be placed slightly differently. It also means that joining a game in progress, you do not see the bullet holes that predate your connection to the server, and , again , the position where you see bullet holes is not synchronised with the server (because bullet holes should happen as soon as there is a hit, and we usually do not wait for the server check because this is a trivial detail that doesn't really demand pinpoint accuracy). This is also why games like CS do not let you "spray a million of times your tag as fast as you can mash the key", It's extra data to push to other players, and especially to a connecting player. When a player connect to a game, you have to send him the game's current state, because the state keeps changing during the connection, you have to try to keep that game state to a minimum (size wise) otherwise the gamestate sent to the connecting player will be too outdated by the time he received it. (Picture a kid trying to catch up with a moving icecream van ) -

Well minecraft doesn't host the game servers, but if dayZ still want to go the way of the public hive, they will be the ones people look at when bad shit happen. -
I'd love to have some more realistic movements, such as sprinting in one direction and sharply turning would make you lose balance and tumble.

You still have to evaluate if a feature that has potential to cause problems is even worth being developped. Especially when it's a feature that allow users to create or reproduce something, The users have very little to fear but the company does if it doesn't do anything. -

That could work, illegal yes, there is a good example with Star Wars galaxies that used to have a freeform music tool for entertainers that was replaced by a pre recorded system when complains arrived due to players reproducing copyrighted songs. In the offensive/illegal sector there is of course anything related to pornography (or even pedopornography), i suppose that even if rocket doesn't mind a violent and mature game, i doubt that he is interested in getting dayZ promoted as "that place place where you can find pornographic drawings between two player kills" (or even of a pedopornographic kind). IT's also very possible, especially today, that censoring "after the facts" will not be perceived as proactive enough. -

Could work, but do you have any specific details on how it would work? freehand painting?uploaded patterns? which surfaces?what are the restrictions?how do you prevent offending and/or illegal drawings to be made? -
I just wanted to point out OP that you won't be dodging an in flight bullet, if you saw the muzzle flash, with the reaction time required, it's already too late.
-
Another option is to make the ingame voice system more desirable. Which is not gonna happen if it has immersion features. It would have to offer "more".
-
Yes you can, but that's a lot of effort for something that would required a LOT of work to be bulletproof, it's also an extremely poor practice and would reflect terribly on the devs. And as someone mentioned, people will use another computer.
