Dude, falling through the world is game breaking.

Why is it so hard to implement a logout timer?

OP, there HAS to be a downside to killing someone rather than trading with him, otherwise only helmets/goggles would ever get damaged. It makes things interesting. Nobody force you to trade, you can still kill people, what's your problem. Pick your style and assume the consequences that come with it. Damn those bandit carebears.

So we all know how there is common loot, there is rare loot, and there is very rare loot. But a persevering player knows that eventually he will find the rarest items, simply because, even if spawns are random, there is an inherent "fairness" to randomness. Well this suggestion is about throwing this out the window :) Every respawn, the game would roll a list of items it will try to NEVER spawn while you are nearby, because sometimes, no matter how hard or how long you're looking for something, you simply never gets it. Now it would mean that you could receive those blacklisted items from other players, either by trade or by looting their dead body, but you would never stumble on items in this list. The sole point of this idea is to make the game a little more unique for each player, and to also make each play through a little different. The list would obviously be hidden, you can of course "suspect" that an item is in your blacklist, but you can't really know. Hell you wouldn't even know wether the devs implemented it or not actually :)

It's not ment to be realistic, it's ment to make things interesting.

so instead of extreme loot cycling, we have extreme server restarts, great

You can still pass doors with a head like that OP? :D

An ssd isn't gonna change much when it comes to your framerate, but it should help to speed up the loading/unloading of assets as you travel the game world.
-
How are you going to train a zombie tho, the only thing he really wants is to see how you taste :D
-
I was under the impression that this was a temporary situation.

I'm not saying it's impossible, but the more flexible avatars become, the more of a pain it is to create wearable items for them. Then there is also that the more unique each player become, the less asset recycling can be done in memory.
-
It's ment to mess up the random (and perfectly even) distribution of items by adding a unique skew per player. As i said at the end of my post it's the kind of inner workings you can add to the game server and not necessary make obvious to the players.

Too much work. I wouldn't mind more face variations, but body variations imply that the gear has to be adaptable for small and large guys, either through multiple versions of each item, or using fancy "auto fitting" tech (which never really work as good as it should). They already have to do fitting for male and female bodies, the more they have to do per item, the less items they can make in a given time. Now before people start calling me names, i had the same decision to take for a game project i'm working on and the answer was the same that Bethesda has been using for all it's Elder scroll and Fallout games: all men share the same body, all women share the same body, 2 fitting to do per garment and nothing more.

They think that because they rent it it's their server, their rules. Or maybe they don't read, a lot of people simply never read contracts or EULAs before clicking "i accept"

Why do you believe newbies need training wheel? Part of the experience is learning as you play, not "train" offline until you feel you're good enough...

Alpha is all about adding as many of the features planned for the game as possible, and not so much about making it playable, that comes later.

Bypass in the config? it was my understanding that max rotation speed would be server enforced... oh well.
-
My reasoning (which i realize i should have stated) is that i cannot stand crowd control classes in rpgs, i think it makes fights all too predictable and controllable. Being able to lure Zombies is bound to be exploited sooner or later.

Hands / Punching being the best weapon in the game WTF?
Lady Kyrah replied to screwloose45's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I don't even know why punching was made letal, i think it should only knock you out players and stun zombies. Encourage people to find a proper melee weapon if they want to go kill happy. -
AT THE PRESENT TIME they don't want it. I don't really gamble on the future personally.
-
Wether it affect you or not doesn't really matter if the game creators don't want it.
-
Terminal angular rotation speed, the closer your mouse movement speed is to it, the more it will be affected. Just deal with it. I've been an arma player since the flashpoint days and it has never been a problem, because it's different doesn't mean it's wrong.

Would make sense to me, after a short while you won't be able to find fresh bullets and it will be all down to reloading with more or less success. I'm not sure you should care that much about mucking your gun or barrel fouling, even with corrosive ammunition... i mean this is a survival situation, get a new gun if the first one stop working. And if you can't use it with the ammo you can make, what good is a gun to you?
