So why do people refuse being held up?
Lady Kyrah replied to Mays (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Might be ego related, they refuse the humiliation, they simply decide "i'm not gonna deal with this guy since i don't have to (alt F4)". -
Why is the goal; servers able to support 150 players?
Lady Kyrah replied to AlfalphaCat's topic in Suggestions
So less servers are needed. The achile heel of DayZ to qualify as a "multiplayer persistent" game is player concurrency, which at the moment is fairly low, which means a LOT of servers are required in order to soak the population. Less server means less fragmentation of the community. -
Developpers or DayZ developpers. If you expect them to come chit chat on the forum, you are mistaken.

Error Creating Direct3D 9 Graphical Engine
Lady Kyrah replied to Leeonidas's topic in Troubleshooting
Install DirectX? Or a graphic card driver? -
Why not just test the weapon? that's the best way to know if it works or not.

Rewarding players for actually staying alive and surviving.
Lady Kyrah replied to Slyguy65's topic in General Discussion
What would be cool tho is that perk progression required your character to be in good "position", not cold, relaxed, well fed, not in pain. -
We can discuss past events "ad vitam eternam", DayZ is in no obligation to return the favor.

To ensure they die of blood loss and not from infection, how kind.
-
It would definitely make more sense for players to die of hunger more often than from a bullet.

A suggestion that could change the way everyone plays dayz and add more realism.

God dammit this trope again? http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/MurderMakesYouCrazy http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/BlackAndWhiteInsanity -
I love roleplay, had some great experiences on Neverwinter nights RP servers but there is a couple of major issues... Roleplay means that sometimes you have to accept to lose, surrender or things like this, most non roleplayers objective is to "win" at all cost, so it won't happen.

Of course it's a video game, a video game that has a reputation for being hard, unforgiving and going slightly against the flow when it comes to instant gratification, people play dwarf fortress to see how long they can stay on top before the game wipe their sorry ass, they aren't looking for a game that comfort their play style. What is it with gamers these days being convinced that they know better than the people who make games for a living? It's like every game that comes out has to be modded and bent into some weird mutation of itself. If that's not entitlement "your game has to be a framework that i can turn into whatever i want" i don't know what it is. If you bothered to read my reply more carefully you would have noticed that i avoid the use of "i/me/my" when discussing that sort of things, so you can drop the personal attacks and go back in your little hole.

Why does every person with a gun shoot on sight?
Lady Kyrah replied to joeymp's topic in General Discussion
That's the predatory nature of things, everyone has equal chances to find weapons, someone who has one before you is now in a position where he can now leverage the have not to his own personal gain. The second reason is strategic, a dead player is a player you don't have to worry about. I'm not saying it's a good thing, if anything it makes the experience a little shallow, but that's part of exploring a new type of game and trying to refine the formula. I just realised that i wrote this article in 2010 that kinda talks about it http://kdc.ethernia.net/game-design/how-do-we-prevent-them-from-killing-eachothers/ -
Of course it's believeable, people want their DayZ achievements to have a meaning, saying that you survived 10 days on DayZ 'the modded to hell edition' is absolutely meaningless. There is always the option of having mods be vetoed by the DayZ team, but then people will scream about totalitarism :)

Would you like to play on our PRIMETIME server?
Lady Kyrah replied to seifeler's topic in General Discussion
Yes but this isn't a "general" discussion, you're getting undeserved exposure for what is basically a little private venture. -
Those mods represent a vision where they win more than the original. A better experience, it is up for debate, most player desires tend to be very subjective about their definition of fun, with little regard to what the game is trying to achieve or how their changes interact with the rest of the game.

Lady Kyrah replied to seifeler's topic in General Discussion
You guys mind if i report this topic considering it should be in the server section? -
How would you know it's human meat tho, it would just be "meat" :)
-
It only look like "for no reason" to you. Subjectivity, that sort of things.

Stupid people aren't equipped to properly assess their own intelligence, which is why every single human on earth consider themselves to be "pretty smart".

Ear plugs for firing guns or else you get a loud ringing in your ears
Lady Kyrah replied to joeymp's topic in Suggestions
Hasn't been my experience with assault rifles. They hurt my ears pretty bad. .22 is pretty quiet but even 9mm gets pretty loud. -

i don't think the devs need to create an actual currency, let the players choose. -
You have to take in account other players in your decisions, they are as important as the game world itself.
-
The devs won't lose my respect if they decide that the vision they want to realize is more important than modding.
