Shadows don't need to be turned off, any graphic card since the 8800GTX support deferred rendering. I fully support being able to degrade visual fidelity for a better framerate, but the lowest setting should not fully turn off any of the features.

Just make grenades be primed on key PRESS and thrown on key RELEASE. If you want to go suicidal, just hold your grenade key down and go hug people.

Question is, from a gameplay perspective, is it even practical to have this level of granularity? You're not going to be reconstructing your MOLLE setup everytime you find new bits don't you?

That's the most retarded statement i've ever seen. (today) At some point you have to decide of a reference machine that the game has to run on, this game is still suppose to sell to a reasonable amount of players and not to cater solely to the super rich. Otherwise it's like designing a car while disregarding the average width of streets.

I do hope something will be done to make "walking" the normal mode of locomotion. Sprinters left and right, all day long, is just... weird.

First: WRONG FORUM SECTION Second: It's a bit too military "ish" but it would be nice to find the occasional phosphore grenade, they aren't designed so much with anti personel in mind but to render weapons unuseable. 1. Put weapons in a little pile. 2. Drop phosphore grenade on top. 3. Grenade will burn for several hours (useful light and heat source maybe?) and destroy any loot near it. -

I won't comment about the FPS view because we talked over and over and over (and over) about this and unless the developpers decide to force everyone's hand, there won't be a consensus coming from the community. -

I think zombies should be easy to sneak around as you walk by, but any kind of noise should atract their attention and make them look in that direction. Basically: Idle zombie -> 10meter view range Any sound louder than a person walking: -> turns around and can see you at up to 100 meters.

Thinking on your feet. Being able to quickly take a decision and commit to it in all situations, keeping your cool in tense situations, having a plan B (and a plan D for when plan C fails). Also, a stoic attitude to be able to get back on your feet as soon as you die. -
I suspect that it's the main reason we see people complain about how much running around they have to do in the game is because they expect to corpse run.

I don't think it's a bad idea to put lone players at a disadvantage, if anything, i hope the devs will add more cooperative actions. And no, i don't think that cooperation should be restricted to non critical activities. There is a reason we live in societies, it allows us to help one another instead of dying alone from a mere broken leg.

To the OP: If you decide to open a topic on a forum it's for opening a discussion, people are bound to disagree with you and to tell you why, you can't just throw things as "facts" and expect everyone to suck it up. -
Any zombies or wildlife around your character has to be tracked by your client just as well as players, do the math.

Helicopters are the least efficient fuel users per pound of cargo, if you think about it, anything is more efficient than a helicopter, the reason we use them IRL is because they are fast, can reach areas without roads or surrounded by water and can land pretty much anywhere there is room for two skids.

The thing is that if you weight spawning you do not solve the problem, people will only focus in areas that are the most likely to give them what they wish. Why would anyone play weak cards given the choice?

Because there is no reason to make anything more complex, if you start trying to detect wether players are in combat or not, you open potential methods to exploit the logout mechanic to some degree. What's wrong with 30 seconds of presence for anyone anyway? Do players feel they are being punished by being forced to pick a safe logout spot? -
if DayZ was a minecraft like universe where everywhere you go is completely unknown, buildings spawning specific items would be fine. As it is right now, everyone knows chernarus like the back of their hand.

They could just settle for a fixed vertical fov with a horizontal fov derived from the screen ratio, problem solved.
