Time to fix night time once and for all! (with pool)
Lady Kyrah replied to MLCA's topic in General Discussion
Voted, now where is my free pool? -
Can you get globally banned for doing this?
Lady Kyrah replied to xmarkwilliamsx's topic in New Player Discussion
That count as modified game files. -
Assuming mod support will ever be implemented. I'm not saying it won't but i tend to consider things for what they are, there is currently no mod support in DayZ. And the devs can still change their mind.

Does anyone else think the backpack capacities are inaccurate?
Lady Kyrah replied to karlkurtz32's topic in General Discussion
Space engineers use liters as backpack volume unit. It's not fun. -
Anyone else think DayZ should switch engines?
Lady Kyrah replied to SomeCallMeNomad (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
No they aren't. That's the point i wanted to make. Both versions used by arma3 and DayZ are like different branches of the same tree, they both started with the arma2 codebase but are evolving in different ways (and may still share elements back and forth, we will never know without source access). -
You might prove me wrong, but i don't think having an unpleasant/distasteful name fit into the allowed kicking policy. So at your risks and perils.

Very few suggestions are worth checking if i may say, and in those that are worth checking, you still need to remove those that are beyond the scope of the game and those that simply do not fit in what the devs want to make.

there is no such thing as the "arma3" or "arma2" engine. It's the same engine at different points in time, hell whatever dayZ uses now is not even the arma2 version anymore yet isn't the version arma3 is using. Also commonly called a "fork". -
You're the one making a suggestion.

As long as you can prove it i guess.

Just because you can run the same service on your own system doesn't mean they have to give you the software, if they do not wish to provide public binaries it is their choice, the number one right of a software company, is to NOT release their software publicly. And yes because, like many companies they want to deal with professionals who can be trusted an held accountable should the software be leaked. In an age where any kid with a credit card can rent his own server anywhere in the world, they want a little more guaranties than that.

The concept of engines predate the times where companies like Epic and Crytek would try to shovel their overpriced product to every game studio out there. Games USED to be written from the ground up because games where simple back then. As games grew in complexity, so did the code required to support them and pretty much every game studio started writing their own library that they would use over and over from game to game. Those library collections grew to become game engines. The very idea of a game engine is that you do not have to write every game from the ground up. The torque engine for example (which is the one i'm familiar with) is just 1.2 millions of lines of code (not counting spaces and comments) spread over 1929 files and that's not even counting all the libraries it depends on (PhysX, DirectX, Bullet, Recast, OpenAL, SDL...) and contains an estimated total of 341 years worth of man hours. But yeah game studios should start fresh every time right? -
Why do i keep seeing people complain about pricing? It doesn't have to be cheap or even affordable and it's not like you're being denied basic necessities or shelter it's a video game, stop acting like an entitled child, and accept that you will have to vote with your wallet if you don't like it.

last time i checked because i rent an apartment doesn't mean it's mine.

That's because you've confused what you where paying for. you are paying for a service, that service doesn't include administrative rights.

You can just let him log out if that floats your boat, if the guy had some sense he would have logged hidden inside a bush and not in the middle of a field. If you are logging out, you are defenceless for 30 seconds, it's up to you to reduce the odds of your own demise, it does what it's supposed to do.

Erm... you do realize that the engine used by Arma3 is just an updated version of the one used on arma2 right? BUt hey it's just the millionth topic naively claiming that changing engine fixes everything, especially when the devs are not modders and can modify the sourcecode as they wish. -

Hey OP! So... what do you know about game engines? what about game development? or development at all? -
You'll only get beans if you manage to design an interface that works well with this system and isn't clumsy as hell.
-
I don't think you understood what attract people who DM. And it's certainly not a fair fight. They won't go play CoD and they certainly won't go on servers that are made specifically for that purpose.
-
But that would nullify the whole point of the logout delay, which is that YOU GET KILLED if you log out at the wrong place/time.
-
I just don't want them to become the "wow mounts" of dayz, that come with advantages and zero inconveniences.
-
Great... more high tech handouts, really? What became of the concept of boiling water on a fire?

You do know you bought the game "as is" right?
