I think a mechanic where you character goes to sleep would be more sufficient; similar to minecraft. Every player has a sleeping bag that they keep in their back-pack. It can be used anywhere at any time, and deploying it will start a countdown timer of 10-15 seconds where you character starts to fall asleep. This should be able to be cancelled at any time by the player. To go alongside this, I don't you should be allowed to log out when bleeding. Once you have bandaged yourself and the blood loss has stopped, you can log out using the sleeping bag. Tents could also be another place where you can sleep to log out. But it has to be your own tent and not someone elses. Reasons why I purpose this method: - A stand alone timer doesn't seem right, especially ones that seem like a very lengthy period as you may very well just get caught unlucky. You can find a safe spot, scope it out for 5 mins and then start logging out, just to have some random guy pass by and see you and shoot you. - Leaving the body behind for a set time after spawn is just as bad, for exactly the same reason. I doubt this would totally resolve DC'ing to avoid death, it would certainly help to give decrease the amount it occurs, and give a greater chance for anyone who's killing another player to get the kill.

Isn't the L85 gone in 1.7.2? I currently have one at the moment, but im yet to update to the latest patch. Not because I fear loosing the thing, that I can deal with just fine, it's the other issues that im hearing about with the patch. But if it's gone in the next patch, it should fix everyones issue about it. As for night vision and anti material sniper rifles. They've been hard to come by for me. Searched the barracks and numerous crash sites many times in the past to only find 2 pairs of night vision and 1 M107 with no mags. Considering I roll around in a group of 3-10, thats not great. We have however found numerous tents, and come across players with gear that we've wanted and taken it. Now we have about 5 sets of night vision, 2 M107's with 10 mags and an AS50. I'd say the balance for night vision and top grade weapons is about right.

Going far up north, whats the point?
yorkie065 replied to Ballistixz's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I go, and have stayed up north because it easier to survive. As you said in the OP, there is a ton of empty space, and empty space means there are next to no players. Im on Day 20 now with my character, started with looting the military tents in Cherno and then going straight north. Im pretty much now fully kitted after having done numerous raids on stary and both northern airfields with friends, but I would say about 60% of my gear has come from other peoples tents. Yes Tents!!! You wana go raid some tents? Go North. If you strike lucky, you will find a ton of top grade gear. Raiding tents, vehicles, starry and the airfields every now and then gets my adrenaline fix as of when I need it. I don't put myself in danger unless it's absolutely necessary. Hunting the animals for meat and stopping off at watering holes/ lakes gets me by easily. -
Love the new forums! Great job with the patch!
yorkie065 replied to zorisx's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I like the new forums too. Very nice and very clean. The only thing I would critique on them would be to have a bar below the pinned threads like in the old setup. Was a very good way of distinguishing them from the normal threads below. Otherwise, top job!! :D -
I kinda miss it too. A lot of people I've shot recently, could still be alive if we had global chat. Theres no real way of communicating to randoms over distance without wasting ammo.

I believe what you experienced wasn't shock, and was you actually passed out. It's a pretty well known bug that can happen at times of logging in, even when nothing happened and you were fine before you logged out. Timers tend to mean your passed out, so can't do anything. Shock is a symbol that appears on the right, which looks like two electrical wires/ plugs connected together, with 3 small lightning bolts either side of it. It's appears above the broken bone symbol, and a lot of people don't know what it means, or mistake it for broken bones. Best way to solve shock is take painkillers if you have them, or wait for a certain period and it eventually wears off.

It's max range is 800 metres. The centre of the scope is zeroed to 300metres. From there, it goes up in 100's for each mildot. The top of the black line being 800 metres. Don't know exactly about zoomed, i've yet to be in a situation where zoom has affected my shot greatly. There are tables I belive showing distances and calculations with both zoomed and unzoomed when ADS'ing with the sniper rifles.

Soo.......your DC'ing and avoiding mass tension and suspense, which is what separates this game from any other military shooter out there, and the main reason why this game is so damn fucking good!?!?!? I don't get that, why DC to only avoid death? Yeh you loose your stuff, you miss out on soo much tension and adrenaline rush. I do one of 3 things when I see a player. Either: 1- Hide and let them pass. 2- Run off in a different direction and hope they didn't see me. 3- Shoot them if they're posing a threat. People will yell at me for 3, which happens half the time, but with no real feature for communicating and stating that your friendly clearly, there's little option to. Im usually with a group of mates, and very rarely do I trust anyone else but them.

Another Combat DCer.. thanks bandits..
yorkie065 replied to sturmfalkerda's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Thank you!! Truely glad for your comment.. on a more real note' date=' Each player is entitled to a single story about Combat Dcers.. haha [/quote'] They very well may do....but does it really need a separate thread for each and every individual story? It's a hell of a lot easier to find stuff when everything is in one thread, rather than sifting through 100 threads of the same thing... On another note, they're working on a fix for the combat dc'ing to avoid death -
It's a lot easier than you think to just accidentally click it, even when your not in a hurry. You wait till you one day do it yourself. 100% agree. I myself have done this, and so have 2 other mates. Just a simple, like you said, confirmation would be nice.

How long do people live? Not noobs, I mean the average pro.
yorkie065 replied to cragzeek's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
My current character was 19days old when I logged in last night. The death that started the new character wasn't even a proper death...was me accidentaly clicking on respawn instead of options. There was no confirmation so I lost all my stuff there and then. But it didn't take me long to get the stuff I wanted. Straight away I went to the military tents in Cherno, I managed to grab myself an M4A1 with a couple of mags. That did me for now. I headed to Berezino, stopping off on a few deer stands and small villages on the way, picking up a sidearm, food and water to make the journey. I hit the diner in Berezino, then quickly did super market and hospital, picking up an Alice Pack and a ton of medical supplies. The rest of my gear has come from sticking with my buddies, raiding crashed heli's, other peoples tents and vehicles. I've got everything I now need and more, and our group is kitted out for near enough any situation. Found best way is stay in a group, stay quiet, stay hidden. Be patient till you have the firepower you need. Then you can be a little bit more aggressive. -
So here's a lovely tail about how a dirty sniper up on the North East Airfield got what he deserved. So after me and my mates logged on (there was 7 of us) and were driving around in a Ural, we rounded everyone up in the truck and decided to head North East to the airfield in hope of finding chopper or some decent loot. We got to the airfield and had a quick glance to see if there were any zombies. There were none so headed in driving from the west end of the runway towards the east. We passed the hangars slowly and there was no heli, so we headed for the fuel tank, we reached it and prep'd ourselves to jump out, start refueling and cover with the silenced M4's that 3 of us had. We got out and started refueling, 2 in the car, 1 running back and forth with the jerry can and the other protecting the truck and our buddy refueling. The zombies spawned all around us and immediately 2 guys got to work taking out those who were right next to us. One of our guys climbed up onto the top of the fuel tank on the little platform. "Dude, you don't wana go up there" one of our guys called out over TS. Immediately, as soon as he got to the top, he came under sniper fire, he took 2-3 shots before dying outright, at which point we abandoned both his body and the re-fueling operation. Fortunately, the guy the sniper decided to shoot at didn't have all that greater gear compared to others in our group. We headed off back the way we came, sniper shots flying over the truck every couple of seconds till we were off the runway. We followed a road off to the west behind some trees. We stopped and quickly came up with a plan. Me and another mate being snipers, decided we'll go back to the airfield on foot to see if we can recover any gear from the body, and possibly take out the sniper there whilst the rest of the group would go off to refuel the truck elsewhere. So we went off our separate ways. Me and my buddy reached the airfield and moved in a little, sticking to the tree line as we both have ghillie suits. I checked the airfield with my range finders and found where our mate got shot, there was no body, but there was blood still spurting out from where it had been. We both suspected that someones gone and looted it and hidden it. I put away my range finder and immediately saw a black dot running in the distance. I pulled them out again and it was a guy, crouched running holding an Assault Rifle. We both acted fast and headed in his direction down along the north side of the airfield, again sticking to the trees. We paused for a second to catch our breathe back, as my buddy took a look around with his thermal L85. "Got 2 on thermal" buddy said over comms. "Really? where!?" I replied. "Up the hill, to our East, roughly 70 degrees" I pulled out the compass and pointed myself in the direction, zooming in with the range finders again. "I can't see anything!" "Pull out your thermal! They're in the tree line, prone below a pine tree." I zoomed in on my thermal and scanned around, finding them quickly. "I see them", quickly switching back to the range finders. "They are.....650 metres out! Wana take them?" "Yep" my buddy replied, opening his bag and pulling out his DMR "They fucked with the wrong people" I giggle, opening my bag and pulling out the beast thats the M107. We quickly got prone and flattened a bit of the grass infront of us. I zoomed in and zeroed myself to 600 metres at my mate adjusted his shot. "you take the one of the left, i'll go for the one on the right" I say, trying to relax myself. My heart was in my mouth knowing that these we probably the guys who took out our buddy. "On my count" I call out as I zoom in and line them up. "3...2...1...fire" We pulled the trigger at virtually the same time. The recoil on the M107 is pretty big so when it came back down and saw they were still there alive. We waited for what seemed like an eternity (was about 0.5-1 second) as the 2 rounds traveled the 650 metres to their targets. Next thing we see is both guys slump to the floor simultaneously with blood pouring out their bodies. The two names in the player killed feed confirmed our work. Me and my mate went fucking nuts. Not only did we make the shot each at 650 metres, but we did it at the same time, and they both died at virtually the same time, giving them zero time to react. We decided to head cautiously up the hill to their position, keeping an eye out for a 3rd or anyone else nearby. There was none. We got to the bodies and only took their DMR and any other important stuff that we could fit in our Alice Packs. The guys we shot soon left, clearly raging. We went back to where we got dropped off and jumped back in the Ural. Morale of the story, don't bite off more than you can chew. These two guys decided to pick on a group of 7 who are all very well geared. Whilst they got a jump on us and managed to kill one of our group, it ended with both of them dead. Not only that, we took the M4A1 CCO that the guy who looted my mates body, off the dead body, and gave it to our guy who got shot. If only global chat was still in the game so we can mock them to hell. Would have loved to see/ hear their rage :P

Have got a cracking story lined up for later. Shall have to post it this evening after work. Stay tuned ;)
